With "The magnificent obsession" (26th October 2012 - 6th October 2013), the Mart redraws the relationship between its collections and the public, reflects about its heritage and embarks on a new way of observing the latter

You always sleep late and always rely on phone and anxiety. Now more and more people get this “fashionable ill”——

obsession.

A buddy of mine at work got me in to Invicta watches, and that spurred my interest in watches in general. Not a high dollar collection by any stretch of the imagination, but I like them. This is a Festina watch that I bought back during college. I was working at a bicycle shop at the time, and was fascinated with all things cycling. This watch has held up very well, and was my everyday wearer for about 5 years, until I stopped wearing watches a few years back.

I had so much fun doing some improv piecing the other day that I thought I'd continue on a bit. Especially since it's about the only sewing I've felt like doing in a bit. Probably something to do with the imprecise nature and the fact that it can be done in tiny spurts and doesn't require pulling out of and cutting of yardage. Or much concentration. And I always love using up scraps. Now I have mountains of scrap everywhere. Being turned into little kites for an eventual Maple Leaf Rag.

These are from our pink bush. Love the hints of pale green.

So I have a lot of rings. A lot of jewelry in general. The funny thing is I rarely wear any of it. So I though these underused rings deserved some attention!

yes, i have a plush obsession and really with nintendo/mario items XD

When I say this topic for Teleidoscope week 32, there was no other option. It simply had to be minifigs or Weemen as I know them.

56/80 Great Obsession

There are times we corrupt it to both an apparatus such as TV or PSP that we isolate the world. And that's what you and wanted to capture in this photo, the obsession that people have with being surrounded by apparatus that only take away time to live moments with the people we most want.

This had long been in my head, but I had to get an old TV to make it.

I thought my obsession with birds is just a fling. But here I am walking my birdies in the woods.

The only thing to which I will admit to having an obsession – books.

No matter the genre, the intended audience, the plausibility, the style, the length, the plot – I adore books. I just hope that I fare better than Mr. Henry Bemis, in the end.

And whilst I am confessing: I often judge a book by its cover, initially.

I had an outside, long exposure night shot all planned, but went and forgot my battery. So instead, you get an indoor studio shot.

I love doing product shots, so I grabbed my bottle of Obsession for Men cologne and set it up on my foamcore boards.

This was shot using ambient light augmented by light painting with a mini maglite, handheld for 3 seconds to soften the dominant ambient shadow at product right. The natural light falloff created the graduated blend behind the product.

Even at f/11, the dust was evident, in camera, on product, and on the foamcore backboards. Blemishes cleaned in Lightroom, along with only very minor exposure adjustments.

Shot with my Nikon D600 and Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens at f/11, ISO 100 for 3.0 seconds.

I don't know what I'm gonna do without you ...

Turin and Sanchez describe this spicy oriental as big cheap and come hither, and give it 3 stars. They say nobody knew any better so everbody bought it, including me, and I really like it.

And not least because it is quite chocolaty...

"Top notes are green notes, mandarin orange, vanilla, peach, basil, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are spices, coriander, sandalwood, orange blossom, jasmine, oakmoss, cedar and rose; base notes are amber, musk, civet, vanilla, vetiver and incense"

No this isn't a sentry gun, but the result of what happens when one gets sucked into the black hole known as photography. One cares more about L lenses than they do about their children. Good thing this isn't mine...
