The Cincinnati Observatory was designed by Samuel Hannaford, and built atop Mount Lookout in Hyde Park in 1873, replacing the previous observatory on Mount Adams, which was established in 1842. The buildings of the observatory, built in 1873 and 1904, house telescopes manufactured in 1904 and 1845, respectively. The complex today serves as a museum and hosts many supplemental educational events every year.
