An oasis of hoar frost in the middle of a local woods. Surrounded by mature trees the younger ones bunched together had no cover from the week long hard frost. Almost like "the lion, the witch and the wardrobe" the gap in the trees appears to be a gateway to a different world!

The Aroona Dam near the town of Leigh Creek is a veritable oasis in a very old, very dry land.
Even well into Autumn the weather here is very hot, dry and dusty.
In dry season this dam is just about the only water you'll see for hundreds of miles.

Like an Oasis in the desert, this grove of brilliantly lit Autumn colored trees were surrounded with towering walls of rock.

As well as being a most accommodating hostess and accomplished chef, Sonia is a splendid comedienne, practical joker, and raconteur.

This photograph was composed while hiking in Palm Canyon, one of the three canyons in Southern California's Indian Canyons area. It depicts a desert oasis, populated by California Fan Palms (Bearded Palms).
The Indian Canyons are part of the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation, founded on May 15, 1876 through Executive Order signed by President Ulysses S. Grant covering 31,610 acres. In 1877 and 1907 the Reservation was extended, to cover 32,000 acres.
The Indian Canyons consist of Palm Canyon, Murray Canyon, and Andreas Canyon, and feature many excellent hiking trails. Palm Canyon is considered the world’s largest California Fan Palm Oasis.
Since 6,700 acres of the reservation are in Palm Springs, California, including Indian Canyons, the tribe is the city's largest collective landowner. The canyons are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Although the literal meaning of oasis is a green spot in the desert, it can also be used to describe a peaceful area where you can escape life's rigors.
This is my oasis.
Edmonton, Alberta's climate is considered to be temperate. Summers here are beautiful, but winter can be cold and harsh. This beautiful oasis is located in the temperate pyramid at the Muttart Conservatory here in Edmonton. Even though we are still in the throws of winter, it is a pleasant reminder of what to look forward after the snow is gone.
