Oakwell Hall

Oakwell Hall is a Grade I Listed Elizabethan manor house, furnished as a family home of the 1690s, complete with its own mysterious ghost. Oakwell Hall was also visited by Charlotte Bronte in the 1830s and it was immortalised as 'Fieldhead' in her 1849 novel 'Shirley’

The weather was terrible but little LB wanted some muddy puddles, i knew just the place. Oakwell Hall, a walk round there with lots of puddles to jump in followed by ice cream in the car!

A charming Elizabethan manor house situated in a beautiful country park, just 15 minute drive away from where I live. Charlotte Bronte, the19th century English romantic novelist, often visited her friends who lived here, and was so inspired by the house that it was featured in her book " Shirley" as the home of the heroine. I love coming here for a peaceful afternoon stroll around the gardens.
