After briefly visiting David in Cannich this afternoon, a hint of brightness on an otherwise dull and very wet day encouraged me to detour up a nearby glen.
Apart from soggy stags I didn't see much at all until I was heading back and saw this unlikely scene. The rain had stopped but it was still blowing a hoolie as this Cormorant rocked and flapped about desperately clinging to its branch.
Boyfriends can rarely be oversized, but their suits usually are...

Oversize Load big Patriotic truck with colorful decorations riding in a local parade, found in North Carolina.
Oversized Load - Male Osprey bringing in some eucalyptus bark to the female in the nest. I have never observed this behavior before and it was interesting to see the Osprey scraping some loose bark off the tree and bringing it back to the nest. I wonder if it just serves the purpose of nesting material, or if the Osprey is intentionally bringing in this particular bark for the oils which may have some anti-parasitic properties. In any case, it was a treat to watch this comical sight of the Osprey lugging a bundle of bark. He even dropped a piece of the bark in the river and in his determination, actually came back after dropping off the rest, dived down to grab the little piece and returned it to the nest. I got many interesting images on this particular afternoon and will share the rest of the sequence in the coming weeks.

Quality is mediocre, as I was stopped at a light and caught this just as I needed to move as the light turned green. Windshield wasn't real clean either.
Australia is a big country with lots of big things! But also amongst the oversized are some big, longlasting flowers. Here is the Banksia menziesii (Menzies Banksia) compound flower candle contrasting in size with a pea flower- Egg and Bacon type which is substantially smaller. (Chorizema cordatum??)
Taken when I visited The Australian Garde, Cranbourne Botanic Gardens. Although they were without power the staff were on hand and ushering large numbers of families into the gardens. It was so pleasing to get out to the 25km limit currently allowed by covid-19 restricitions. HMMM :))

SM31-025 with a train from Wrocław is entering Kościerzyna on its way to Gdynia. Once again I was lucky enough to witness this train during my stay up north. This time it was taken up by one of the few running SM31 locomotives.

SM31-025 is making its way out of the station Kościerzyna on the old coal mainline, at a snail's pace. On hook - the standard heavy power generator train from Wrocław to the harbour in Gdynia.
This train runs roughly once a month or so, sometimes with longer breaks, and is one of the last regular trains using the old unelectrified railway line 201, about which I once made a series of posts under the name 'The Polish coal-mainline'.
