SafariStand now lets you do this! It kicks several varieties of ass, and its free, so run, don't walk!

I opened everything I could find until I had used all 4GB of RAM. Photoshop with a half-dozen RAW files, a movie or two, iDVD, Windows XP in Parallels, a dozen FireFox tabs, iPhoto, iWeb, Mail, iCal, iTunes with some music playing, Adium, CSSEdit, Transmit...everything I could find, and then used it like that for a couple hours. It ran great.

This PowerBook has gone to heaven. The power cable snagged against ... something, and the entire machine crashed down to the floor, banging the display against a chair on its way. The machine still works, and if I connect another display I can work with it, but I don't fancy carrying around a display and power brick.

With the recent release of iTunes 7, new interface and all, it might be a glimpse of what Leopard might look like.

So I decided to get into Photoshop and try my best at recreating the finder with iTunes 7 in mind.

Do you think I get some sort of prize for this many boot disks?

I've been collecting customizations ever since I got my 21.5" iMac a couple months ago. This is my first Apple computer, and I love it!

I tend to be quite particular with my desktop backgrounds and setups. Too many years spent being disgusted with ugly and tiring desktop setups :P Both these wallpapers have slight modifications in photoshop.

The weather icon is a php file run on my website, displayed through geektool. Lyrics, time, weather, 'this day in history', Processes, and HD capacity are all displayed using Geektool.

Album art, ratings, song title, etc. are displayed using Bowtie.

HyperDock is doing the Windows7-style dock popup (I love it!)

My system runs smooth, and I absolutely love my desktop!!

I've been tinkering with Mac OS for ages and ages now on and off, switching to-and-fro between XP.

Finally I think I will be using OS X as my main operating system on my custom built computer, I always have an install of XP in VMWare Fusion down there in my dock if I require it :)

Specifications are as follows:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPU 2.0GHz @ 3.20GHz

Gigabyte P35-DS3L Motherboard

4GB 800MHz Corsair XMS2

nVidia GeForce 7900GS (Yes old card, but do I game? no.)

640GB Western Digital Caviar Black (This is one heck of a fast HDD imo)

500GB Samsung HD501LJ

200GB Seagate (Unknown model) used for music mainly.

Pioneer DVD+-RW (Not sure about model but it's awesome)

ThermalTake Soprano case with clear window.

22" Edge 10 DVI display @ 1680x1050

Leopard 10.5.6 with latest updates (Vanilla install with bundle of P35-DS3L Kexts to get devices working properly but apart from that the kernel and main OS are absolutely untouched thanks to Leopard's great support for the P35 Intel chipset :) )

Is it better than buying an official Mac Pro or iMac? of course it's not, but it's pointless flashing my ££ for something that will just look pretty innit.

This was the first real heavy duty customization I did in this theme. I happen to like exploding, end-of-the-world type situations so playing off of a theoretical monitoring of the destruction of someone's homeworld appealed to me. This desktop was completed through the use of several customized GeekTool scripts, the Black Menu Bar hack, and the Flurry icons set with Candybar.

Each block, while 'scientific' sounding, relays information such as HD usage, temperature sensor information, CPU utilization, and so on down the normal battery of lines. Eventually I wish to address this one to some sort of graphs (GeekTool will do it, but I don't know how with RRDTool) but that's for in the future. For now, this is enough.

Case badges I made for OS X boxes. There are three flavors: Metal, Leopard Server, and regular Leopard. I'm planning on getting these printed on metallic backing, like real case badges, and slapping them on my PowerBook.

A work in progress desktop for Leopard.

Text based icons for the dock, modified using Docker. I know these have been used again and a again but I really like text instead of actually icons.

Geektool used for the weather / conditions, for the itunes display, time, date, and mail.app check.

Custom theme for Adium, showing online contacts sorted by status, onlne, idle, and away.

wallpaper is a wall of Eva Mendes (can't remember where I got it) editied by me for the black bar at the bottom.

font used is is Helvetica Neue Ultralight / Light

That's it. It is lightweight and functional yet with a minimal style. Just how I like it

i felt that it was time to do some changes. So this time around i made an "info-dock-bar" with the main thought that i can change the background image without the dock-info-bar-thingy needs a remake.

I used to have the background image host the bar-info-dock-background. Now I remade the whole thing...

listofusedthingys-thingy:

Geektool - for systeminfo

hd-space, IM and Mail count, weather, free ram, battery, date and time.

the IM/mail counters is actually applescripts called from within geektool.

Dragthing - for launching.. stuff

there are 4 different docks here, disk-dock for showing connected drives, processdock for active programs, 2 shortcut-docks.

The shortcut-docks are 1) bottom middle folder-icon - overflow for quick access to my most used folders. didnt want to clutter the info-dockythingy-bar

2) left screenside main applauncher divided in 5 tabs with somewhat corresponding ecqlipse2 icons.

the process-dock also contains my trashbin (right bottom most icon)

menubar is using a blackmenubar-mod (found somewhere in lifehacker-pool)

ive just recently updated both twitter and hyperspaces thats why they are having black icons.. (forgot about them.. sry :P )

apps in menubar as follows:

layers- for screenshots

dragtthing- se above ;)

Pwitter- twitter client

Hyperspaces- adds some stuff to apple spaces (spaces labels ...)

freemem- optimizes RAM usage

AirPhones- Airphones server, sends itunes music to my iphone speakers..

Insomniax- disables the sleep-function. i can close my netbook-lid without sleepmode turning on

Audeee- makes the sound work on my eeepc 901

GeekTool- se above

MemoryCell- monitors memory usage of active app.

Volume- well .. guess

Spotlight- apple search thingy .. usefull anyways :)
