THE UNKNOWN OSIRIS
Shown above, brilliant Orion hangs over a statue of Osiris at the Temple of Egyptian Gods at Nea Makri, Greece. According to Greek historians, this temple was built around 180 AD by Herodes Atticus. The four entrances to the sanctuary are flanked by pairs of statues of Isis and Osiris standing approximately 7 ft (2.1 m) tall. Ancient Egyptian astronomers believed Osiris incarnated the constellation of Orion and that Isis incarnated the dazzling star Sirius (at lower left).

Στην παραπάνω εικόνα , ο λαμπρός Αστερισμός του Oρίωνος κρέμεται πάνω από το άγαλμα του Όσιρη στο Ναό των Αιγυπτίων Θεών στην Νέα Μάκρη, Αττικής . Σύμφωνα με τους Έλληνες ιστορικούς, αυτός ο ναός χτίστηκε γύρω στο 180 μ.Χ. από τον Ηρώδη του Αττικού. Οι τέσσερις είσοδοι στο ιερό πλαισιώνονται από 4 ζεύγη αγάλμάτων της Ίσιδας και του Όσιρη να στέκονται περίπου 7 πόδια (2,1 m) ψηλά. Οι αρχαίοι Αιγύπτιοι αστρονόμοι πίστευαν ότι ο Όσιρις ενσαρκώνεται με τον αστερισμό του Ωρίωνα ενώ η Ίσιδα ενσαρκώνει το εκθαμβωτικό αστέρι Σείριο (κάτω αριστερά).
