Chicago is world-famous for its many unique architectural styles. Most of the buildings in the downtown area were destroyed by the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. So the current buildings are noted more for their originality than their antiquity, and they reflect the city's history and multicultural heritage. The Chicago Riverwalk contains bars, cafes and restaurants; small parks; boat and kayak rentals; a Vietnam War memorial; and other amenities.

Irises are one of the most popular ornamental herbaceous perennials. They have been known in culture for over 4,000 years, and the first written mention of irises as an ornamental plant dates back to 1576. Today, the range of irises is so extensive that it is sometimes difficult to navigate and create a suitable set of varieties for yourself.
As ornamental plants, irises have been used since ancient times. Translated from Greek, "iris" means "rainbow". People have long appreciated their beauty. Spotted loosestrife, or lysimachia, is an excellent unpretentious plant. This is a fairly large winter-hardy perennial that has a high growth rate. Such a flower from the primrose family is well suited for decorating a personal plot and will be stable in a flower bed in an urban environment.

The Malga Fane in Valles is unique in South Tyrol. This idyllic Alpine village is located in the Val di Valles and is immersed in a suggestive natural mountain landscape. The cluster of huts, barns, a small church and three shelters - a total of approx. 30 buildings - it also fascinates thanks to the originality of the structures.
Built in the Middle Ages as a refuge for plague and cholera patients, today the malga is one of the main attractions of the area, both in winter and in summer. It is the starting point for various high mountain excursions, such as the Picco Croce (3.134 m s.l.m.), the highest peak in the surrounding area. En 1902, arguant des dangers d'incendie que représente le bâtiment, une pétition est signée par trente-deux personnes pour la destruction des halles. Une seconde pétition, pour la conservation, réunit quarante-six signatures. La municipalité, reconnaissant le rôle commercial et fiscal des halles, refuse la destruction. Une seconde pétition pour la destruction est relancée en 1924, mais la municipalité s'y refuse, démontrant le rôle des halles dans l'accueil de manifestation les jours de pluie, mais aussi que le bâtiment « donne au quartier un cachet particulier dont les étrangers ne sont pas sans remarquer l’originalité ». L'édifice est inscrit au titre des monuments historiques en 1984 et fait l'objet d'une campagne de restauration en 2010-2011.

C'est en squattant les logis abandonnés d'oiseaux plus grands que la Sittelle torchepot fait preuve d'une autre originalité. En effet le trou de vol étant trop grand pour ses besoins, elle s'emploie à le rétrécir afin qu'il n'atteigne que 29-3l mm, ce qui en interdit l'entrée à d'autres candidats, comme l'étourneau par exemple.
C'est le travail de la femelle. Au moyen de boulettes de terre ou d'argile imprégnées de salive, elle maçonne soigneusement un chambranle aux dimensions voulues. C'est cette aptitude qui lui a valu le qualificatif de torchepot (torchis).

Had all kinds going on here though trying something different. 3 stop med grad for the sky, 4 stop soft grad for the foreground and two polarisers on.
Stayed up off my last night and did the front garden. Bought 3 azaleas and some bedding plants. £19.50 each for the azaleas! In a couple of years I'll hopefully have my own 'Amen Corner.' Called in this afternoon. Only 10-6 but it's going to be a long one after no sleep. Double time though:) I'll catch up after I've caught up on some sleep:)

Grundtvig's Church (Danish: Grundtvigs Kirke) is located in the Bispebjerg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a rare example of expressionist church architecture. Due to its originality, it is one of the best known churches in the city.

Posee un torreón anejo de forma cilíndrica en cuya parte inferior está alojada la sacristía de la iglesia del convento.
El portal presenta un arco de medio punto hacia el exterior y apuntado en el interior. En su parte superior, y por la cara intramuros, posee tres pisos de galería cerrada con celosías de barro y yeso que le dan un aspecto característico siendo un importante elemento por su originalidad y su importancia como hito y fondo de perspectiva. Bajo las celosías y sobre el arco queda cobijada una capilla abierta de vano adintelado con la advocación de Santo Tomás. En esta foto ampliada de la parte superior con las celosías y sus particulares dibujos. Por aquí podían mirar las monjas sin ser vistas.
The Portal de las Monjas is an old gate in the Mirambel wall attached to the Agustinas convent.
It has an attached cylindrical tower in the lower part of which is housed the sacristy of the convent church.
The portal presents a semicircular arch towards the outside and pointed inside. In its upper part, and on the intramural face, it has three floors of a closed gallery with clay and plaster lattices that give it a characteristic appearance, being an important element due to its originality and its importance as a landmark and perspective background. Under the lattices and over the arch there is sheltered an open chapel with a lintelled bay with the dedication of Santo Tomás. In this enlarged photo of the upper part with the lattices and their particular drawings. The nuns could look around here without being seen.

A.W. Cardinal was for most of the performance hidden in the dark. He gave the limelight to his partner Jass. Even his name A.W. is a bit of mystery. Southside Shuffle blues festival reserved the best for the last; at least it was for me the 'Blue Moon Marquee'. Normally it's a duo Jasmine Colette and A.W. Cardinal, but they added an excellent keyboard player. Both write songs, both have great voices and are excellent musicians. Rather then being just another blues band their music had depth and originality. The Albertans travel the world now for several years. Cardinal raspy voice is very distinctive. Playing together for 10 years, there is nothing stale in their performance. Alexander Wesley and Jasmine are now on my radar.

We often seek approval of someone else, a group of people, society etc because we want to be accepted in that all exclusive circle, feel like belonging somewhere. We try to mold ourselves in order to fit the necessary description, the demands of the masses, losing ourselves and our originality in the process while trying to appease. But it's often forgetten that - True acceptance doesn’t require you to fit in or change who you are. It doesn’t have to be sought; it’s given to you.

The Saint-Étienne de Bourges cathedral is a Gothic cathedral built between the end of the 12th and the end of the 13th century.

See you in 1449, the huts of Breuil welcome you - Dordogne - New Aquitaine - France - Europe
Selon le site Internet qui leur est consacré (cf. Liens externes), « Au Moyen Âge, les cabanes du Breuil étaient habitées par les Bénédictins de Sarlat ». La preuve en serait un acte de vente de « 1449, date de la plus vieille trace écrite affirmant leur existence ». Cependant ce document n'a jamais été publié et ses coordonnées comme sa teneur sont tenues sous le boisseau. De plus, Calpalmas n'est pas Le Breuil. Dans son livre, Les cabanes en pierre sèche du Périgord, paru en 2002 (cf. Bibliographie), François Poujardieu écrit que « Le Breuil était un des domaines des Bénédictins du Chapitre de l'Évêché de Sarlat, mais il est écrit nulle part qu'existaient les cabanes que nous voyons aujourd'hui ». Il ajoute : « La propriétaire affirmait, il y a vingt ans, que les cabanes auraient été construites ou entièrement remaniées par son grand-père, au début du xxe siècle ».
Toujours selon le site Internet, des artisans ruraux (un forgeron, un bourrelier et un tisserand) auraient loué certaines des cabanes pour y exercer leur activité mais aucun élément textuel n'est apporté qui corroborerait la chose. Dans la cabane qui aurait servi au forgeron, trône un gros soufflet devant un renfoncement de maçonnerie servant d'âtre. Une carte postale des années 1970 montre cette même cabane servant de bergerie : une dizaine de brebis en sort, sous la houlette des agriculteurs de l'époque.
Les cabanes ont fait l'objet, à diverses reprises (au tournant des années 1970 puis à celui des années 1990), d'importantes restaurations. Certaines modifications ont été apportées aux faîtages : les toitures indépendantes des cabanes du groupe 2 (cf, infra, Disposition des bâtiments) ont été reliées entre elles sur deux tiers de leur hauteur pour faire pendant à la ligne de faîtage ondulée du groupe 1 (cf, infra, Disposition des bâtiments); de même, le faîtage de la cabane contre le pignon du fournil, est passé d'une ligne en courbe et contrecourbe à une ligne horizontale bien droite, comme celle du faîtage du fourni.
C'est à la suite de la proposition d'un visiteur, frappé par la beauté et l'originalité de l'ensemble des cabanes, que celles-ci ont fait l'objet d'une mesure de protection. D'abord protégées au titre des sites à partir de 1968, elles devaient être classées monuments historiques le 10 mai 1995 (ainsi que les façades et toitures en lauses de la maison d'habitation et de son fournil), la grange étant pour sa part déjà inscrite depuis 1991.
Outre les cartes postales, le cinéma et la télévision ont popularisé les lieux : ils auraient en effet servi de décor (avant 1990) aux films La Belle au bois dormant, Jacquou le Croquant (de Stellio Lorenzi), D'Artagnan et Les Misérables (de Robert Hossein).

Depuis 1977, Marie et Claude, mes parents sont devenus « les bras forts » de ce petit coin de pierres. Ils en ont assuré la continuité intergénérationnelle.
Depuis les années 90, à mon tour, je me suis lancé dans cette aventure et ma passion pour ce lieu m’a poussé à relever de nouveaux défis afin de conserver ce patrimoine. (Recherches de technique de constructions en pierres sèche : encorbellements et voûtes).
Aujourd’hui, avec Carine, mon épouse et nos enfants Samuel et Mathias, nous multiplions nos efforts pour l’entretien et la rénovation de cabanes. Restaurations progressives de murs, Atelier de construction (2002), Exposition hommage à mes grands-parents (2014), Espace « Ailleurs dans le monde » (2019) … et bien d’autres choses !
En plus de cela, nous avons à cœur de continuer à travailler nos terres en mettant en œuvres la culture naturelle !

He adds: "The owner claimed twenty years ago that the cabins were built or completely remodeled by her grandfather at the beginning of the 20th century."
Still according to the website, rural craftsmen (a blacksmith, a saddler and a weaver) would have rented some of the huts to exercise their activity there but no textual element is provided which would corroborate the thing. In the hut that would have been used by the blacksmith, there is a large bellows in front of a masonry recess serving as a hearth. A postcard from the 1970s shows this same hut serving as a sheepfold: a dozen sheep come out of it, under the leadership of the farmers of the time.
The cabins have been extensively restored on various occasions (at the turn of the 1970s and then at the turn of the 1990s). Some modifications have been made to the ridges: the independent roofs of the huts in group 2 (see below, Layout of the buildings) have been connected to each other over two thirds of their height to match the undulating ridge line of group 1 (see , infra, Layout of buildings); similarly, the ridge of the cabin against the gable of the bakery has changed from a curved and counter-curved line to a very straight horizontal line, like that of the ridge of the bakery.
It was following the proposal of a visitor, struck by the beauty and originality of all the huts, that they were the subject of a protective measure. First protected as sites from 1968, they were to be classified as historic monuments on May 10, 1995 (as well as the facades and slate roofs of the dwelling house and its bakery), the barn being for its part already registered since 1991.
In addition to postcards, cinema and television have popularized the place: they would indeed have served as a setting (before 1990) for the films Sleeping Beauty, Jacquou le Croquant (by Stellio Lorenzi), D'Artagnan and Les Misérables ( by Robert Hossein).

Progressive restorations of walls, Construction workshop (2002), Exhibition tribute to my grandparents (2014), Espace “Ailleurs dans le monde” (2019) … and many other things!

Uglich is a beautiful cozy Russian town of the Yaroslavl region, formed on the Volga River and included in the Golden Ring of Russia. It is located exactly in the place where a sharp bend is formed. The city has a complicated, rich history. Here is a calm, peaceful life. An important point of the Golden Ring annually attracts tourists from all regions. The originality and color of the city is difficult to convey in words. The popular tourist center is famous for its magnificent monuments of Russian architecture. Uglich watch factory “Star”, cheese-making enterprises are known throughout the country.
I am well aware of the fact that this is a very classical shot of Tower Bridge and I apologize for the lack of originality this time.
I really love motion photography and I was in the need of some absolutely thrilling time, shooting under the bridge, on that narrow traffic divider so familiar to most of London's photographers.
The light trails are created by the passage of the red buses. If you are looking for a re-energizing photography section, by shooting from this location you will have a clear feel of London's powerful vibrancy, and you will leave the bridge feeling like quick silver ;-)

Photographs taken with a disposable camera that show what they want to share about their daily life outside the day center and on the other, individual portraits during sessions for two, in a privileged time.
This is how, after printing, these photographs are commented on and painted in a collective spirit: eyes meet, confront each other, but above all, this collaboration establishes a benevolent dialogue between each other.
