Please - NO INVITES and AWARDS from now on - Thank you...

Because of my long silence you've probably guessed that there is no good news. Taty is fighting against a curse, or so it seems to both of us, as it is so weird how all these illnesses are following one another. And may the one(s) that cursed her be damned! At the moment with a very painful pneumonia she might end at the hospital. My flu didn't get into pneumonia but hers did. Take care all of you and pray for her please.

Wishing to all of you a great Wednesday from me Willem and Taty

I love this set and wish Disney would continue to do more stuff like this. When I first got it, I couldn't get over how attractive the Prince's face was, it really is better in person. Don't be fooled by the stupid prices on eBay and other places, this set isn't that rare. In fact a set recently sold on eBay for relatively cheap, and thankfully was bought by a fellow flickr friend.

“Birdsong brings relief to my longing. I am just as ecstatic as they are, but with nothing to say! Please, universal soul, practice some song, or something through me!” – Rumi, “Birdsong”, translated by Coleman Barks

“If you hear a voice inside your heart, listen . . . , and through that music you will learn to sing. When you become a sheet of music without notes, your song will sing you.” – John Squadra

“Pure music is as big as space. It is God. It is the secret of allowing the sound of the universe to flow through you.”—Amma

If I leave all the tension

There inside of me

My body will burst

Into a million pieces

Deaf and dumb

Blind and frustrated

Life waits to express

An outpouring

Not from flesh and blood

But from beyond

Where grander Life is realized

Time dissolves

Through desperate tears

Joy continues

To experience the Truth:

We are the deliverers

Of beauty in art and song

Immersed in the knowing

These lead us back

To who we are…

Where we come from

Every time I really make the effort to express from the heart, a feeling lifts me into a state of such Joy, it makes me want to connect again and again. The challenges of digesting the outer world fade away and I feel the enormity of all that is possible. I keep the outpouring close to my heart because they are reminders of my Oneness with the Creator.

One hand allows the other

So much and me

Born stubborn me

Will always be

Before you count

One two three

I will have grown my own private branch

Of this tree

You gardener

You discipliner

Domestically

I can obey all of your rules

And still be, be

I never thought I would compromise

Let's unite tonight

We shouldn't fight

Embrace you tight

Let's unite tonight

I thrive best hermit style

With a beard and a pipe

And a parrot on each side

But now I can't do this without you

“It begins with only One Song.

We discover ourselves in That.

Within a solitary vibration emerges a blueprint of life.

Stirring the melodious heart of every cell,

this sound flows like a cool clean river

cascading playfully through us.

In this glorious awakening we experience this Song

through a spectacular crescendo of feeling.

We each find our individual voice

effortlessly and freely,

uniquely and boldly

to express over and over

the endless harmonious possibilities

of One abundant Whole Note.”

Ganga Fondan, 2009

The first time I ever heard his voice, a deep feeling of familiarity rushed through me. He strummed the guitar gently and curled his lips to meticulously pronounce the words of the song that came. His blue eyes stared into mine and his head bobbed up and down ever so slightly. I close my eyes now and still hear the beautiful resonance of his sound. Then came times we sang privately together immersed in only the sweetest world of the moment. Our union planted generous seeds for self-discovery in our unity. From that wellspring still rises such fantastic joy. From this joy still flourishes an abundance of art and poetry.

As part of my until-now woeful participation in the Musically Challenged group, I am trying to delve into pairings of images with songs that are not necessarily contemporary. Music that often predates iPods, Walkmen and sometimes even LPs - but nonetheless has meaning that transcends ages and generations. My first attempt involved the work of Georges Bizet.

This time around, I offer a selection that has touched a chord of hope in two different cultures in two distinct ways.

The traditional Irish song "Danny Boy", I feel, is meant to instill a love for a homeland. It seems to me that this song serves as a promise: no matter where the singer goes, he affirms in this song that he will always take a part of home with him.

When I was a youngster, I first heard the acclaimed African-American gospel artist Andre Crouch take the melody to this standard and add to it a different affirmation. In this version, "He Looked Beyond My Faults (And Saw My Needs)", the singer is making a commitment to and praising a Savior who has made it possible for the singer and anyone else who so believed to inhabit a very special future homeland.

Do you have to be Irish to have a love of the land that shaped you? Do you have to be of African descent to to look forward to a better land?

Of course not. Of course not. All you need is a desire to find yourself safe at home, whether that place is on Earth or on some higher plane.

I am grateful I have never met a human being of any size, shape, color, ethnicity or value system who could not find room in his or her heart for home.

A little bit more than two years ago I had the chance to see Joshua Kadison on his last tour here in Germany. I know his music for more than 15 years now. Knowing that I never ever was at a concert before this made it very spacial to me - and may indicate how important it was.

I am not sure about other countries, but I'd say here in Germany he is underestimated. Only some of his songs are known - and they are allways the cheesy ones - or better: The ones which seem to be cheesy, because only a few listen to the lyrics. "Jessie" is a brilliant ode to a young women - "Beautiful in my eyes" gives a great view on the 'true' kind of beautiness - but they become perfect to me, because they are part of a bigger collections of songs he has written.

I have actually cried, when I listened to "Paris" - which tells so much about unfulfilled hopes - and shows a special kind of communication and sharing lifes. Being with somebody, beeing befriended is never really to be described by some greater theorie - but can only be experienced or understood in the specialness of this single individual friendship that's shown in reality, in songs, in stories. Joshua Kadison is more than capapble of doing this.

And "Mamas Arms" is so much to the point - and so personal. And while I did skip it in the first years "Invisible man" became one of my most loved songs.

Beside the words his music directly touches my heart. I play the piano myself - and after first steps with lessons by my father I started leraning the important things by myself. By feeling, searching, finding and getting keen on the keys... There are three piano-artists which had a great impact on me: Gershwin (whose level I may never reach, but that's fine), Konstantin Wecker (German songwriter - listen to his "I sing for I have a song" about a man who stops singing for mainstream and money but starts singing out of heart and joy) - and Joshua Kadison. And the last one is most close to my heart. When I hear him play I can let me fall - and can feel the music in my fingers and body. It is like sleeping safe and sound. Like being at home. Like warmth and security.

Every now and then he uses the picture of us as "human radios" and this is pretty fitting; i guess...

The conctert was most surprising. Right before he started he did invite us to share his space on the stage with him - because he doesn't like the confrontation-idea of concerts. And so I found mysyelf pretty perfectly sitting to his left (so I could watch him play) amongst all the others - singing his songs with the crowd - and seeing a surprisingly young looking man - living his music with every muscle and all his voice.

I was glad - all around (and I had a pretty rough time then...). And today I remembered the short clip I did take - and so wanted it to share with you.

And please watch the picture that I took at the same event. It's one of my personal favourites.

Seeing Leonard Cohen live (even if it was just for one song) was outstanding. He is a legend, and for good reason: smiling, passionate, charming, and one helluva voice.

I picked her up last fall when DS was having a $10 sale without having to buy 2 classic dolls. Initially, I didn't care for Snow White with her eyes looking off to the side, but it's grown on me. While I still prefer my 2011 Snow White (it's gonna take more than an apple to dethrone her), I really thought this doll was pretty. Most importantly I bought her for her bodice. I just loved the blue velvet and the darker blue sleeves, because while her sleeves are lighter than her bodice they aren't as light in color as often depicted on merchandise. This is pretty spot on. Also, it lacked glitter. I've since removed the skirt and altered the bodice a bit. Once I get off my lazy ass and get her some cream satin, I'll try and make a fully film accurate dress.
