To others, the universe seems decent because decent people have gelded eyes. That is why they fear lewdness. They are never frightened by the crowing of a rooster or when strolling under a starry heaven. In general, people savor the "pleasures of the flesh" only on condition that they be insipid.
But as of then, no doubt existed for me: I did not care for what is known as "pleasures of the flesh" because they really are insipid; I cared only for what is classified as "dirty." On the other hand, I was not even satisfied with the usual debauchery, because the only thing it dirties is debauchery itself, while, in some way or other, anything sublime and perfectly pure is left intact by it. My kind of debauchery soils not only my body and my thoughts, but also anything I may conceive in its course, that is to say, the vast starry universe, which merely serves as a backdrop.

A piece by David Barnes, an Athens, Georgia based artist who grew famous for his album covers for of Montreal, fronted by his brother Kevin.
David has been soliciting ideas for commissioned paintings lately, and I sent him ideas for two. This is the first. The concept for this one was schizophrenia, hence the tentative title that I've given it.
last night i went to the of montreal show, and then they came to beta bar after where i dancedancedanced.
Kevin Barnes comes on stage in style. Hmm too small perhaps? Probably best check it out on a larger size
of Montreal live at Shepherds Bush Empire, this show was simply amazing, it felt quite capped with 16-18 folks being able to watch the show meaning no nakedness or onstage piledrivers but nonetheless it was just amazing and breathtaking, after shooting the first three songs I quickly bolted back into the crowd and rocked along to the physchadelic tunes of awesomeness. The same cast were on stage during interludes and songs performing unique theatrical scenes for our viewing pleasure, it was nice how they thought up with something new everytime, this time included a family of gas masked folks, ninja moshing, pigs making out and the epic tiger rocking out on stage before getting kicked out by the real band.
After the show I got slightly lost backstage which was fun and got to meet Dottie and the bassist. Was fun!
I wanted to talk to Kevin about Hissing Fauna. Instead the conversation somehow ended up being about the fear of spiders as we watched some crawl around the floor.
Wow. Thank you ninatwin! Nina design's the Of Montreal tour T Shirts. She also has a great line of stuff and she's my best friend. Love her!
