The sprinklers went off last night for the first watering of the season. We all walk on and by lawns every day and I would daresay rarely if ever stop to notice the beauty that lies therein. Therefore I would argue that grass is a mundane subject to capture so I hopefully was able to successfully complete the theme of "Giving the mundane its beautiful due."
The funny thing is I feel like half of my photostream consists of mundane objects so I don't know why I'm struggling to find more of them this week.

New growth reaching out to the evening sun, spotted while out walking the dog, edited in lightroom, photoshop and totally rad.

Stu was out there after the snow stopped coming down to clean up the snow. This photo "really" shows how much snow is out there. We have 15 mph gusts of wind as well. I'm so happy we bought a Toro. It's a great snowblower and has the strength to do the job! We got around 13" of snow here today. Glad we got this size snowblower, a smaller one wouldn't have been adequate for the amounts of snow we get and the size of our driveway.

The strength of this storm was amazing. I took this photo out the upstairs window. It was snowing and blowing out there making visibility very difficult. I'm glad I was inside!

I have a new toy for my Fuji X-T1, a macro extension tube, this is one of my 1st attempts hand held. Given how many images I deleted I think I need to use a tripod and try not to lay on an ants nest - luckily only black ants and not red!!

Raspberries are my favourite fruit in berry form. After flowering the berries form and each berry can contain 100-120 seeds. One cup of Raspberries contains only 60 calories. They do not ripen off the vine, so be patient and wait for them to turn nice and red. If they come off easily then chances are they are ready to enjoy.

The petals stamen and pistil have done their job and now the seeds are developing inside the ovary, the pod of this poppy. When it dries and cracks open, it will broadcast hundreds of the tiny black seeds we see when we eat our lemon-poppy loaf. The profusion of seeds assures the continuation of the species or a tasty treat.
Steamer SS Dicky was shipwrecked on a Caloundra beach which was named after her. The ship sailed from Rockhampton and as it arrived to clear Caloundra Head it met lashing rain and cyclonic winds that sent the ship on her beam ends. Captain James Beattie was forced to beach the ship to avoid hitting the rocks off Moffat Beach.
On 4th February 1893 at 10.35 am the ship grounded stern first on the beach.
The wreck is due to removed soon as it is a hazard to swimmers and surfers.

I'm not sure how old this tin church is exactly but it was originally used by our local RC church, perhaps as the school house, but was moved to a different location a couple of miles away and reassembled in 1931. It was then renamed and used by the Church of England until it was closed in 1998. Despite being a little worse for wear, it's still standing.

Elderberries are medicinal and such an amazing plant. I have a bottle of Elderberry Cough Syrup in my bathroom cupboard. You can cut a branch from this plant and just stick it into the ground and it will take root. They put out large white flower clusters that produce pollen and then blackberries. These plants are very prolific. It's a good thing they are, the birds love these berries.

I admire Honey Bees. Their purpose in life is to forage for nectar and pollen and return it to the nest. This must take incredible strength. Surviving against predators, chemical spraying, GMO, the weather are but a few of the things that these little creatures have to endure every single day.
Today is Hadley’s birthday. I did not make a cinnamon roll for every year of life, but it is enough to hold him for a bit!

I have seen the juice of the Black Currant sold as Cassis. The fruit turns from green to deep purple to black and can be quite tart. Each currant can contain 30-50 seeds. These can be dried to use in baking. The berries are also used in jams and jellies.

The Mighty Thor. I did some post editing in Photoshop to achieve this intensity of colour befitting this Super-Hero!
ODC. Strength. This great old structure was built in 1877. It was a magnificent family home and now includes an art gallery and historic theater. It has become one of my favorite places to take photos.

Portland, Maine, to see the Tall Ships. A great sight, but so many parts were also interesting. A carved figurehead, a series of ropes, the perfection of a spider's web with the dew, a tall ship at dock, and reflections in the water. I will leave it to better photographers to capture the majesty of the sailing.
Some of you know I've been sick since January. I've had numerous misdiagnoses over the past three months, but we've finally got the right one. Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. It's curable with chemo (six cycles, 3 weeks apart), so I'm going to be just fine. As part of the pre-chemo stuff, I had the pleasure of enduring a bone marrow biopsy today. When it was all done, the oncologist asked if I wanted to see the needle. One look at the ginormous thing, and I knew it had to be my pic of the day. Happily, I brought my Canon with me, so I could get a proper photo (well, as proper as I could get while lying on my back to put pressure on the biposy site and capture the table next to me). #cy365 #OffPrompt #ODC-Strength

If hearing what I'm going through can make someone else feel less alone, less scared, and hopefully even laugh a bit, I'd absolutely love that.
Really, I’m feeling so positive about this, and even relieved to finally have answers and a plan to feel better soon. So, no pity party here. I’ll be venting, informing, and possibly grossing you out, but no sadness. Got it? Good.

I have posted some entries already, starting with the day I was diagnosed, so when you visit the site, please be sure to start with the oldest entry (called, “So, It’s Lymphoma”).

April 6, 2014(26/215)-His Strength. "In the steady gaze of a horse shines a silent eloquence that speaks of love and loyalty, strength and courage. It is the window that reveals to us how willing is his spirit, how generous his heart." Tonight I had a lesson on Regs. After this winter off I really need to build back my strength. Since it was a nice day, there was extra people at the barn so I grabbed a friend to hold Regs while I grabbed a few shots. He is so handsome! ODC Strength.

ODC - STRENGTH IN NUMBERS JUNE 22nd - 28th 2022 - Being on a dead end streat, we get so many cars coming down our road and turning around in our driveway that we had to put up a rope with lots of floats on it, plus solar lights for night time, so far it works!
