I like the way the red peppers look like a fire but let's just say that I struggled with today's image, nuff said.

Racheal and Chloe got me this center piece for Christmas. I do think they resemble the eyes of an owl.
Is it not wonderful to see some warm sunshine with perfect white fluffy cloud hovering above. I love these Spring days.

ODC - DRY, DRYING, DRIED - dry weather ahead
We had pinto beans every Monday night when I was growing up in Kentucky. We always referred to them as dried beans and everyone knew which type of beans that was. Language is funny. ODC: dry

Fully dried at this point, they have been use as decoration for years now.
It was found that by fluffing up the wool, it created tiny air pockets in the fibre which prevented the heat from escaping as quickly. The teasel was used to raise the ends of the fibre on the wool cloth which created these air pockets. Teasing made the wool seem fuller, hence the name of the teasel. Setting them in rows put them to use in early carding machines.

These are often mistaken for Dandelions. When one of the blossoms dries out it gets white and the seeds blow away.

I have been meaning to photograph these against black for a while now and this theme proved the perfect moment.
I used a black piece of bendy vinyl type material that I can shape into a curve, a light with barn doors was coming from the left behind the teasels and I bounced a light off a poly board at the front to the right to give some light to the front of the teasels.
I picked these roses at the end of April and they've been sitting on desk drying out for the last 2 months
ODC - 7/5/2019 - Been there a while
Three dried roses, what's left of the beautiful bouquet our kids presented to us on our anniversary... hung to dry purposefully, knowing I would want to photograph them at some future time.
Loosely inspired by Kim's Studio Online 'Textiles' episode, but edited with an earlier preset: Berrily.

Poor William. His outdoor birthday party gets rained out every year. Fortunately, the boys don't mind playing in the rain, and the adults had a shelter to try to stay dry.

There are thousands of drying leaves in my backyard at the moment. Stu thinks he might get the lawnmower out and mulch them all!
These dried seed pods add a touch of fall to the spring landscape

ODC Dry "Still Life" "Young at Heart" Broken
A still life of dried bittersweet. The pods are young at heart as they concele the seeds of the next generation, but will not fall off until the yellow shells break open to release the pods.

Racheal and Chloe got me this center piece for Christmas. They look like something from outer space!
I spend a lot of time on the beach, I love to see what things I can find. The tide was out, a sail boat was high and dry, and a young couple walked hand in hand along the wet sand.

This beautiful Golden Spice above is Shiro. It is served in Ethiopian dishes as an ingredient in a dip for your food. This spice came directly from Ethiopia compliments of my daughter who loves this type of cuisine! Below is the platter they serve at Lucy's Restaurant in Toronto. It consists of veggies, lentils meats and Injera. Injera is a fabulous pancake that is made from Teff Flour, an Ethiopian staple. If you ever get a chance to try this do, it's so delicious!!!!

When I first met Hadley, I vociferously let him know that I did not want him buying a dozen red roses and having them delivered. (yeah, I was bouncing off something from marriage one). So he almost never gave me flowers at all to ensure he didn't do wrong.... These were pink roses that he gave me last year as a total surprise. So naturally I hung them up to dry in the garage. Just recently brought them in the house and paired them with the basket. The basket is something we just received from his sister. It had been his mom's. Both items make me happy.

ODC. Dry. (Its possibly the driest day England has seen today, as seen).
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

A 2.5" inch squash that we purchased for decoration for Thanksgiving was sitting behind some Christmas decorations that came down yesterday. It was nice a smooth when we brought it home!

I saved these roses and dried them. They were a gift from my daughter for Mother's Day. The vase was a gift from my Brother In Law, Paul. He is an amazing craftsman!
After no less than six alerts from The Weather Channel app on my phone, warning me about the thunderstorm that was already raging outside my house, I thought, “Ok, maybe they’re telling me something here.” So, I grabbed the camera, tripod, and remote, and decided to try to capture those elusive veins of light. We don’t have anything exciting around here like mountains or valleys to make a compelling photograph, but I was ok with that. I just wanted to catch some magic. I had taken 24 bulb shots of varying lengths (I have no lightning trigger), and was still feeling quite patient. But then I hit jackpot with number 25. That was it. I knew I was done. I knew I had my photo of the day, captured from underneath the overhang of my porch, which kept me and my camera nice and dry.

A Western Kingbird sits on a barbed wire fence in a field of dry wild oats. I wonder how he feels about the twig that appears to (or maybe does) impale him?

Had so much rain the last few days, no chance for Roni to get out with her little bubble blowing lawn mower, but rain stopped for a while so out she went to mow the lawn for me.
We don't use a clothes dryer...it's all hung to dry downstairs. As was the way with the family who lived here before us.
