The shrine of Hala Sultan Tekke, on the Western shores of the Larnaca salt lake.
The Tekke is the third holiest place place for Muslims in the world. It was built during the Ottoman administration of Cyprus in the 18th century around the Tomb of Umm Haramn, the wet nurse of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The very old lady fell from her mule and died during the first Arab raids on Cyprus around 650.
Unusual for this time of the year but following earlier very heavy rains, the Salt Lake still holds a lot of water.

Just one of many beautiful compositions on offer at Alfred Nichols Memorial Gardens.
This little pond/lake sits at the bottom of a steep climb. It's nestled in a valley, surrounded by the hills of the Dandenong Ranges. I real oasis of European flora in the middle of the Australian native bushland.

Intensive cultivation to feed the rampant human overpopulation has replaced the forest with fields that stretch almost to infinity... Groups of birds are looking for shelter and food... are they looking for a lost oasis ?

Slough adjacent to the salt ponds and marshes of Don Edwards Refuge has a periodic uptick in Halobacterium and microscopic algae that thrives in briny water. As the salt level goes up, they get stressed and produce this red color.
The bird picking it's meal at the confluence of blue and the pink salty water makes for a very mesmeric and hypnotic scene.

Lower Calf Creek Falls is one of the geological gems nestled in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, a region rich with natural wonders. A majestic 130-foot tall waterfall cascading into a pool practically made for swimming.
Isamu Noguchi remodelled an old factory to create a museum for his own work. It's a hidden gem. Few tourists take the bus into Queens to get there, but it is a quiet oasis for New Yorkers that seek the bridge between nature and culture. The museum reflects the Japanese-American background of Noguchi. Let me introduce his ideas in a small series.
