From the hide in Mapperley wood.
I was tempted to crop down to just the bird but rather liked the way the pose of the bird mimics the shape of the trunk.

The Nuthatch is the only European bird that can move head first down a tree trunk in search of food. As a Nuthatch has the habit of tucking It's food of nuts and seeds in to the bark of a tree and then 'hacking' ( thus 'hatching') away at It with It's bill to extract the nut or seed and this is how the Nuthatch got It's name.
I have had so few opportunities to photograph a Nuthatch this Winter, so I was pleased to get a shot of this beauty today in our local wood!
