The 7/5/2021 Macro Mondays theme it Numbers and Letters.
This is the rear sight that was on my custom built target rifle when I was a member of the United States International Rifle Team nearly 70 years ago. It's been rattling around in the back of one of my junk drawers for all these years and has become a bit corroded, so I converted it to black & white in an effort to hide the rust... Fortunately, the numbers and letters stand out clearly for the MM theme.

This is a sterling silver thimble, just under one inch high. It's taken in natural light with an LED torch for the highlight and sitting on blue shiny card for the reflection. It's been copped to 16x9 but otherwise is straight out of the camera.
Looking up the hallmarks it was made by Charles Horner of Chester in 1912.
For Macro Mondays, Numbers and Letters. From a replica pocket sundial, something a 17th Century wayfarer might have kept on his person. The 1637 version of an iwatch.
Remember when postage was only 2 cents? Congrats if you do because you could be over 100 years old. From 1919 until 1932, United States postage was only 2 cents (per ounce).

Experimenting with 26 mm of extension tubing on a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm F1.4.
The subject lens is the Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm F1.8, the zebra version, 'Made in DDR' in 1971.
The DDR was the former East Germany, or officially Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic).
We have an album of the tiny black and white pictures my husband's father took with this sturdy equipment in North Africa.
