EXPLORED

Millions of people are being pushed to breaking point by housing costs. High housing costs are trapping people in bad housing, causing homelessness and wrecking people’s chances in life.

More than two million households are spending more than half their income on housing costs.

Nearly a quarter of the country’s households (six million) suffer from stress or depression worrying about their housing costs and four million people admit it’s kept them awake at night.

In the last year a quarter of all households have had to reduce their food shopping in order to meet housing costs and over a third have cut back on family treats.

At the heart of Britain’s housing problems is the failure by successive Governments to build enough homes to keep pace with demand.

In 2007 Prime Minister Gordon Brown pledged to build three million new homes in England by 2020 to help ease the housing crisis

We need to ensure that the right kind of homes are built in the right place and offered at the right price. It is vital that a significant proportion of new housing is affordable, including social housing for rent.

With Shelter's Now is the Time Campaign we are calling for more affordable homes, protection for people who are homeless or in bad housing and an end to the housing divide.

Shelter do such a fantastic job in helping those with housing difficulties we think its important to recognise their efforts.

The National Day of Catalonia[1] (Catalan: Diada Nacional de Catalunya [diˈaðə nəsiuˈnaɫ də kətəˈɫuɲə]) is a day-long festival in Catalonia. It commemorates the defeat of Catalonia during the War of the Spanish Succession. The Catalan troops that initially fought in support of the Habsburg dynasty's claim to the Spanish throne, and for Catalonia's freedom, were finally defeated at the Siege of Barcelona by the army of the Borbon king Philip V of Spain on 11 September 1714 after 14 months of siege. That meant the loss of the Catalan constitutions under the aegis of the Nueva Planta decrees. The holiday was first celebrated in 11 September 1886, was suppressed by the Franco dictatorship in 1939 and reinstated in 1980 by the government of Catalonia, the Generalitat de Catalunya, upon its restoration after the Franco dictatorship.[2]

Independentist organizations and political parties traditionally lay floral offerings at the monuments of the leaders of the defence of the city Rafael Casanova and General Moragues for their fight against the king Philip V of Spain. Typically, Catalan nationalists organize demonstrations and meet at the Fossar de les Moreres of Barcelona, where they pay homage to the defenders of city who died during the siege and were buried there. Throughout the day, there are independentist demonstrations and cultural events in most of Catalan villages and many citizens wave senyeres and estelades.

Forget about the "DO NOT". Just focus on the CROSS. Because God sent his son Jesus Christ to die on one, for YOU.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

-John 3:16

This is the true meaning of love people. God died for our SINS, so that we might have LIFE.

Okay, now focus on the "DO NOT". Sin, DO NOT be a slave to it.

REPENT.

& TURN FROM YOUR LIFE OF SIN!

TODAY~

Womensphere 2016 Summit on Creating the Future: Full Steam Ahead

November 7, 2016 | New York City

Womensphere’s Annual Fall Summit brought together over 200 diverse leaders and emerging leaders across sectors, including executives, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, artists, student leaders, and leaders from civil society. Convened on the day before the 2016 US national elections, we were thrilled to be able to come together in celebration and strength, to share, discuss, ideate, and collaborate on creating the future to accelerate the advancement of women in all fields.

We were excited to honor Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman Carla Harris with the Womensphere Global Leadership Award for her powerful and creative vision, her longstanding commitment to empowering women and youth of color, and more than a dozen other great reasons. We were happy to bring together ground-breaking innovators, executives, educators, artists, and leaders creating change for women around the world – to launch some very important initiatives. The event offered a forum for sharing and co-designing global and local programs that accelerate the advancement of women and girls in America and around the world.
