There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion.
Edgar Allan Poe
A thing of beauty is a joy forever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness.
John Keats

Deafening silences that envelop existence sinking into nothingness.
Silence, to remind us that we all need to feel life.

"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases, it will never
Pass into nothingness, but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing"

this is again what I always prefer - "nothing"!
Nothing on a planetary scale, just a fragment of a sphere.
Majestic nothingness, there is neither the eternal "makeshift" Eiffel Tower, nor the greatest marvel of Italian marketing - the ever-falling bell tower. Luckily that's not all! And still thousands of people do not crowd and sell hot dogs. Not yet.. ) What a blessing that there is NOTHING !
If you have something inside.. then you need it so much - a little air around !

The beautiful haunting call of the Common Loon takes me back in time. The Loon is a very ancient species and is almost completely aquatic. They can barely walk on land so they nest very close to the water. What they lack in elegance on land, they more then make up for in the water. They are deep divers and move swiftly and elegantly through the water. They also need a quarter of a mile to take off in flight from water. Hearing the call of the Loon takes me back to childhood days vacationing in the north woods of Wisconsin. I am privileged and honored to often see them on Lake Michigan as they migrate north in the spring. <3
Thank-you to all who take the time to comment on my photos, it is greatly appreciated.
Take care my Flickr friends. <3

One of my grandma’s favourite songs, my childhood lullaby.
As I’m sitting here in her hospice room watching her sleeping, I wonder how many times she was watching me dream my baby dreams.
English translation
You can challenge me to fight the devil
To go and brave the dragons of nothingness
To build towers and cathedrals for you
On quicksands
You can challenge me to break the mountains apart
To go and dive into the throat of volcanoes
All seem possible to me, but...
When I look at her, I, the wolf-man with a heart of steel
In front of her fragile beauty, I'm just a giant made of paper
When caressing her, as I'm afraid to awaken her
With all my tenderness, I'm just a giant made of paper

"I wished I could explain it to those I loved, to my mother, to Japhy, but there just weren't any words to discribe the nothingness and purity of it. 'Is there a certain and definite teaching to be given to all living creatures?' was the question probably asked to the beetlebrowed snowy Dipankara, and his answer was the roaring silence of the diamond."

I was treated to a fantastic light show as the sun set on a stormy evening here. This old chapel was a nice subject to utilise on the vast expanse of nothingness on the Castlemartin firing ranges, just to set against this dramatic sky.
I had been stood on the cliff tops taking some shots of the "Green Bridge of Wales" when the sky started getting really interesting behind me. So as soon as the light went from the sea arch, I dashed back to the car and headed towards this little chapel, which was the only subject of interest in the vicinity that would allow me to get something with this sky as a backdrop. I had passed this spot several times during my trips to the sea cliffs and I thought it might work at sunset and I was lucky to get this dramatic sky during my weeks visit here in Castlemartin.

I remember that old, quiet day
I remember the innocence with it
I remember the death, it was beautiful
I remember the nothingness of me
I Remember back, in the beginning
I remember the years all too well
I remember dreams of a better world
And I remember what they did to me
I know that I can survive this
I know that there's a way
I know that I can survive this
I see a way
Release me from these memories
And show me a way to be free
Release me from these chains
And show me a way for me to start again and start this all over

This quote is especially enlightening to me because sometimes I catch myself saying, "I will do it tomorrow....." What if tomorrow never comes? We need to live each day like it is our last.

Finally got chance for an early morning trip down to my local
It seems everything has been an obstacle of late and even when I finally got down to take this image, we got back home to discover we had no internet
So apologies for all my late replies and favs/comments of late, i did manage a few on the mobile but it's not quite the same
Hopefully I'll catch up with all your posts soon
Looks like the pier is still holding her ground, I've not heard anymore of it's impending doom thank goodness
What a stunning sunrise we had on Friday, it's been a pretty long wait, as most of our early mornings have been grey nothingness or clear bright blue sky
It took me a little while to compose something that I felt worked, nothing original I'm afraid. I found more that I knew didn't work, for me anyways
The beach seemed rather quite messy, with quite an amount of seaweed. Not much in the way of water flow, as it was so calm, even with an incoming tide
This one was captured after the sun had risen, as you can see
I've no idea what the structure to the left is, some sort of platform with cranes maybe
A Little While
A little while when I am gone
My life will live in music after me,
As spun foam lifted and borne on
After the wave is lost in the full sea.
A while these nights and days will burn
In song with the bright frailty of foam,
Living in light before they turn
Back to the nothingness that is their home.

snow covered scenery - nothing to see here.
It seems to me, this is a very good example of so called "negativ space".

The noise was just too much. The thumping that came from upstairs was getting louder and louder every second that passed by. Thump, thump, thump is all she heard morning noon and night. It was driving her crazy. She sat in her chair and thought. But she couldn't think everything faded behind the thumping. She stood from her chair walked to the stairs. Step by step she would ascend her eyes met with the noise. She saw her heart raise and fall. The noise, the noise was driving her mad she must have peace. She would run out the back door onto the dock. The sun was setting no matter how far she got she could still hear the noise. She reached the end of the dock.
The waters looked so calming. She would lean far over peering into the ocean. In a second she lost her balance splashing into the freezing waters. The shock of the coldness forced all her air out. Sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Her eyes closed she didn't fight. At that second she felt the silence. She started to slip into the nothingness. The black void growing filling everything that was her. Thump, Thump, Thump she heard pulling her further away from the void.
Everything that's created comes out of silence. Your thoughts emerge from the nothingness of silence. Your words come out of this void. Your very essence emerged from emptiness. All creativity requires some stillness.

Here to Eternity was captured at Waterford Beach Park. An exposure of 30 seconds was used to smooth out the water and present the viewer with a calm view out into the sound which seems to go into nothingness due to the slight haze of the morning. One can watch the ferry's as they traverse the channel on their regular schedule. A very relaxing location this time of year.
Silence is golden...
Who said that? And what could they have meant? That silence was precious? That silence yielded riches?
I like the silence of things...like these gloves...the story they tell in their silence.
These gloves were left behind by one of the firefighters when they broke for lunch. I was left alone on the training site...in the silence.
And the silence was lovely...
...the silence of the gear, of the blackened building, of the grass, of the empty rooms, of the empty streets...lovely...
I usually prefer sound to silence...but some sounds become just like silence...a steady hum of nothingness...a nothingness that requires no response...no reaction...no emotion...nothing...
...but silence...
Wishing all my Flickr friends warmest wishes and blessed moments filled with secret smiles...
