Noteshelf for iPad App

The App Store should be used in moderation. For new gizmo junkies like myself, it takes a steely will....which I seriously lack. You keep telling yourself, "Hey, it's only 99 cents!" Then the next bright toy shows up and you've gotta have it.

Noteshelf is classified as a productivity app for note taking. That was my primary purpose for wanting to have it - for hand written notes and letters with finger or stylus. After trying several other note taking apps, none has quite matched the fluidity of the handwriting capabilities of this fine app. I've lately had the urge to write letters to friends in my own hand rather than typewritten. And for that alone, Noteshelf is worth....did I say 99 cents? See? That's the hook. The first fixes are cheap. But, as the ecstasy of the new cycles through your brain in ever widening spirals, the dizziness makes you oblivious to even think of denying slight cost-of-living increases to app developers and app store employees. You hardly notice the jump from 99 cents to 5.99. But, it's still a low price compared to what I paid for ArtRage for my desktop some years ago....then 25.00.

Playing around with Noteshelf yesterday, I soon discovered the toolbox with the expected ballpoint pen, ink pen and pencil tools. Then I checked out the palettes. You can customize your palettes from a dizzying array of sample color swatches which are arranged in small groups of 5. Each set of 5 is very selective in suggested color combos and is excellent for those of us who occasionally need a little nudge in deciding upon a palette. These really help to point you away from the typical bright bright color offerings which are usually on board with most note taking apps....and even with many drawing and painting apps as well.

I'm still looking for the perfect stylus. I don't like to paint with my finger....just too many years or holding a pen or brush in my mit. I've bought a couple of pressure sensitive styli and have returned them. My favorite, i.e. the only one which I can comfortably work with, is a cheapie which came bundled with some iPad accessories at Walmart for a price I couldn't resist - 12.00 for all. It works, I think, because the tip is soft and rather more bulbous and elongated than the tips of others I have tried. If only Apple would develop a stylus for their touch products. Maybe it's graciousness on Apple's part for leaving that part of the market open for competition. So far, however, developers have yet to come up with something predictable which works across a wide range of app platforms.

Scription Chronodex Weekly Planner Jan-Jun 2013 Released

Alright, haven't gotten much time to take better photos or explaining too much, I guess Chronodex lovers already know how it works. It was a thrill that there were 72,841 downloads of the 2012 version and I hope many of you are as inspired as I am on everyday basis using Chronodex! Thank you for being part of it.

This time I've included a yearly dial featuring our beloved Vitruvian Man. Each division represents the correct number of days in that month, with reference to the week number in the inner most dial. If you want to plan ahead of the entire year of 2013, it should be a good visual representation of how you want your year spent, just color the weeks or the day divisions and remark radially, you are in control.

If you are new to Chronodex, check out story behind: Scription Chronodex Weekly Planner 2012 - free download with the cost of a prayer.

February 22

We hit Golden Boy again this morning! It’s a solid spot, even though their tables are all weird and melty. I think when they soaked them in resin, the wood must have warped while wet or something. It’s a weird quirk, but at least they still hold coffee, plus they kinda help you reach the keyboard if you have a computer or something. Emily and Amanda came out to see the place too! I tried their Americano and Mexican mocha, both of which were excellent.

Chris recommended an iPad app to me called Noteshelf, so I spent some time setting that up. Now I’ll be able to take handwritten notes on my iPad, but the text is still searchable. PLUS I’ll be able to reorganize my notes on the fly and add photos/PDFs/whatever and mark them up as I go. It’s the perfect blend between writing and typing notes.

Emily’s brother came into town this evening for dinner. We ate at Komodo Loco and snagged Beth Marie’s after. Now we all feel fat and terrible. And happy! And now we’re all caught up on Wright’s stuff.

Export as PDF also saves the background paper template and any images inserted into the notes.

As you move further across the Zoom Box (that's what I call it), Notes Plus will helpfully scoot over so you can move across the page.

Notes Plus also does a really nice job of recognizing geometric shapes that you might be scribbling into your notes.

By drawing a quick circle around some text, Notes Plus automatically thinks I'm selecting it (but this can be turned off in settings) so I can move the text somewhere else on the page or just delete it.

In anticipation of Burger Day (in the UK certainly) tomorrow I took a little bit of time off work (read: had a lunch hour for once) and drew this in Noteshelf app. Did a video of it as well which I'll post when edited.
