This is a photo of the fabric portfolio/notepad holder and pillar plan guide for ISULeads, a leadership certificate program that I have recently become a part of. These items were given to me during the introductory meeting providing an overview of the program, in which I was experiencing during the encounter stage of socialization. The portfolio holds a notepad to take down notes for any activities that I participate in throughout the program and a space to hold related documents such as the pillar plan guide. The pillar plan guide contains the following information on the program: learning outcomes, components, purpose, a worksheet to track development, a timeline with tasks required for pillar completion, and a page to track progress throughout the pillars. This items in the photograph, particularly the pillar plan guide, exemplify the dissemination of role-related information. This guide is comprised of information and procedures that are expected from students to complete the certificate program. It also includes general expectations that help shape the culture present when interacting with people in the culture, such as the weekly small group meetings, which are held throughout the process of completing the certificate.
