Detail of the layers of flooring. There was tile on top, then the sub floor (you can see the impression of the tile and leftover glue), gorgeous hardwood, a black fabric and then the original floor and the thick joist below. On the other side of the next level of wood is the kitchen.
Had to drill a pilot into the 2x4 with a regular speed bit, pilot w/masonry bit into brick, countersunk the Tapcon head with a big speed bit, nut drive the Tapcon.
I bought 2 what I thought were 2x4x8s, but they ended up being 2x4 studs, so not 96" which left us short for this run. Had to add in another piece to get to the next wall.
