I carry this note book around all the time. It contains a diary, notebook, commonplace book, accounts, addresses etc (I'd really rather have a slightly smaller file for the pages, this is about the fourth or fifth one I've had but the first genuine Filofax and it's really a bit too bulky to go easily into my hip pocket. Some of the pages go back to 1988.)
The oak table it's resting on was made by my father over 70 years ago.
This photo has received my highest rating in flickr explore 14 - and still in.
TED: "I found a book full of info about the place we're stayin' in, an' the surroundin' area too. So I'll jest 'ave a kwik look fru' before I makes any desisshuns about wot we're gonna do this week."

Underneath the trees
And dream of dragonflies
Where the weary willow weeps for me"
Take Me Back - Erasure
#7/365 Not exactly as I hoped..the sword is barely noticable..but if I crop in..the tree doesn't look as dramatic. In the end the tree won. That is my sword..which sit in the garage since the birth of my daughter.
This 365 thing is going to be the death of me! How do you young kids do this?!
Strobist: 15"x15" softbox high camera left to fill the shadows of the tree branches and the middle of the tree trunk.
Music note on a granit block.
This shot was taken where the Ireland Anthem compositor was born. On Dorset Street.

Following on from yesterday's scene-setter, this is the first of this spring's occasional photos showing what remains of the rural Texas Gulf Coast plains. The photo was taken a mere five miles from the previous post "Darkness at the edge of town".
Mr. Zoom is MADLY waving at me at the end of the long NYC block. I look back at the palm reader one last time, then hurry on. Mr. Z grabs me and points to the young man in the felt hat.
Mr. Z: Please tell her what you told me.
Man In Felt Hat: Yes, I have seen your Demi. She was here just before the sun came up.
Mr.Z (really using his head): What, exactly, did she look like?
M.I.F.H.: Gold. She was gold. AND she was with a friend, also gold. They were reading the letters on the board.
I looked closely. They were old love letters from the 1930's. I tilted my head at him.
M.I.F.H.: I think they were looking for love.
Me: How do you know it was Demi?
M.I.F.H. (looks me straight in the eye...see below) and says: She left a note.
Mr. Z was smiling and already holding the note in his hand.
If I wrote a note to God; I would speak whats in my soul
I’d ask for all the hate to be swept away; For love to overflow
If I wrote a note to God; I’d pour my heart out on each page
I’d ask for war to end; For peace to mend this world
I’d say, I’d say, I’d say
Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it seems like so much is going wrong
On this road…… we’re on
If I wrote a note to God; I’d say please help us find our way
End all the bitterness; Put some tenderness in our hearts
And I’d say, I’d say, I’d say
Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven’t got a clue; Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is going wrong; On this road we’re on
No, no no no
We can’t do this on our own
So
Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven’t got a clue
Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is going wrong
On this road we’re on
No, no no no...We can’t do this on our own
So, So
If I wrote a note to God

Notes:
-I have been thinking about using Technic arch braces as ribbing on a steam locomotive boiler to suggest pipes or plate seams. This is my go at it. The 1/2 stud thickness of the braces is not so inconvenient if an even number of ribs are employed.
- Stock LEGO driving wheels will be replaced by third party XL drivers
- The cab is seven studs wide, thus I consider this a seven-stud wide train engine. By necessity, the pistons are eight studs wide and the rods are to operate at just over 8 studs wide.
-The leading truck is false and is fixed to the rest of the locomotive.
-The trailing truck has a single axle, indicated by the official stock wheel holder. A second axle is suggested cosmetically.
1. Taking pictures a tool (camera), not a photographer.
2. The choice of tool limits the possibilities.
3. Experience allows him (instrument) less and less to limit their capabilities.
4. The ability to see is given only when the observer allows ...
5. The moment of observation is the real find ...
6. Training and mastering it defies. Training leads to poor imitations of the original.
7. Often the result should ripen, like wine. Although time is the understanding of the mind, therefore it is very speculative.
8. The meaning of all this is the process!
9. Let it be!

This is a female wild River Otter. For years, they have found their way through the Sacramento (California) Delta rivers, and have made it to Two ponds in the Walnut Creek Open Space, where they repair their old den, usually have two pups, raise them, and then disappear for another eight months.
I'm not sure that they will be back this year. We have no fish here, and the Delta rivers and streams are dry or being sent elsewhere in the state. I won't get into the politics and some of the stupidity of our water regulations (like selling our water to bottled water companies which are then sold to Californians who don't know they're drinking their own tap water!). Sorry. I said I wouldn't get into that. I will say that, even if I was a gazillionaire, I'd still conserve. This is my fourth drought, but my second that has taken a toll on bird migration, nesting, etc.
P.S. This female otter (females are larger than males) image was one of Tom Blandford's favorites on SmugMug, and I thought it would be a good break until I'm able to hike into the hills and get some new shots of our wildlife.
