The CSIS Americas Program and the Center for International Policy will host a half-day conference that will explore what normal relations between the United States and Cuba could look like, while discussing a legal roadmap for getting there. The purpose of the event is not to discuss whether the United States should normalize its relations with Cuba. Instead, the event will explore the process in its legal, practical, and diplomatic aspects, in the event that a U.S. president decides to pursue such a relationship.
The event will feature a morning keynote address by Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who will discuss his recent trip to Cuba and the outlook for the bilateral relationship, and a luncheon keynote address by Ambassador Tom Pickering, who will discuss the role of practical diplomacy in normalizing relations with countries subject to U.S. economic sanctions.
Washington, D.C. attorney Robert Muse will describe the legal capability of a U.S. president to normalize relations with Cuba, and then moderate a discussion of the various elements of normalized U.S.-Cuba relations. Speakers include: Mark Feldman, former Deputy and acting Legal Adviser at the Department of State; Gustavo Arnavat, former U.S. Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank and Senior Adviser at CSIS; Jake Colvin, Vice President of the National Foreign Trade Council; Prof. Christine Haight Farley, American University's Washington College of Law; Matthew Aho, Akerman, LLC; and Dan Whittle, Environmental Defense Fund.
Please note that this event is closed to the public, but the proceedings will be live webcast on this page during the conference.

Inside ring, lower picture: Side view of spailcraft, moving along a line, perpendicular to the wind. Upper picture, frontal view of lower picture, to point out the normalized lift transference between lift and the reaction force at the track. Normalization between lift and the reaction at it, is in fact the proof of stability; which is the very principle of spailing.
Blades in wind mills also move perpendicular to the wind.
Ring: Spailcrafts run along a looped track, connected to one another. They are placed equidistant apart which then gives us the principle of the Turbo windmill.
Spailcraft firstly eliminates the capsizing momemtum. This formes a stable structure and therefore can be sized up and withstand higher winds.

All indicators and composite indices in the EPI are normalized as 0-100 proximity-to-target score, with 100 representing “at target” and 0 being furthest from the target.
Chicago, March 31, 9.15Pm: In light of the recent semi-final cricket match between India and Pakistan, President Obama of the United States was highly encouraged by the camaraderie, exhibited by the leaders and peoples of both countries of South Asia. To celebrate this normalization of the relations between the two countries, President of the United States, declared that every American should wear Salwar Kameez dress in the next twenty-four hours. When asked by a confused Washington inside-the-beltway reporter, “what’s the point of this? I thought we were here for briefing on Libyan Crisis” President Obama explained, that within the context of multilateralism policy, showing gratitude towards both countries, will promote peace and harmony between the nations and he further elaborated his point that by doing these small gestures by Americans, we can decrease the billions of foreign aid and thus lower the tax rates for the American people. Another reporter asked, “Mr. President, where would Americans find Salwar Kameez dresses?” Mr. Obama replied during his recent trip to South America, after having lengthy debates with his staff on all the crisis in Japan, Libya, growing protests in Middle East and other important policy issues towards South America, he took a five minute break and surfed the net. He came across a Salwar kameez Boutique website that reminded him of his days as a young student when he used to visit Karachi, Pakistan. According to him, this website had very elegant dresses. He said, he showed to Michelle and she asked him with the excitement in her eyes “Mr. President, you have to buy me this dress when we visit Pakistan, this year” He replied “No, Mrs. President, you can click right here and get it and its cheap, too” President added that he promised Michelle that during their upcoming visit to Pakistan, he would definitely take a stroll on Mall Road to show her how much Pakistan has improved. He was referring to the website mallroad247.com/ with its vibrant and elegant, yet affordable, dresses by Zoya’s Collection Boutique.

We see photos like this in magazines, fashion, films, photos all the time. Does it have certain implications? Do we live in a society that normalizes "Rape Culture"? This is the first in a mini series that I'd like to explore.

It can be whatever you want it to be, thanks to Photoshop :0) !! This was a day shot, after a rain, with lots of droplets on the lily......but of course that was so.........normal. ha !!! So I un- normalized it a bit. :) gotta play !
welcome to the new world order mark of the beast. made in china.
Revelations:
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
This building allows dogs. The lawn and garden around the building has no dogs allowed signs (with a dog shitting graphic).
This is another example of how gentrifying investment burdens communities. The building wants to minimize maintenance costs and preserve the aesthetic for residents (which they paid for). The surrounding community must provide walking space and inevitable cleaning and maintenance that comes from higher traffic.
Unless everyone puts up signs or fences or has lawn maintenance contracts, more work is downloaded to low income communities, with only the promise of an 'improved' neighbourhood appeal, and higher property values (ie. taxes, and resulting unsustainability), the reward.
(M. walked in just as I had the shot right and I was damned if I was going to wait. )
I'm glad that the snow is melted and the train service normalized a bit. It was annoying the last weeks...

Here you can see it after the high reading subsides. This takes around a minute, maybe more.
Another amusing thing about this machine is that the Sirai stat has a deadband of about 0.4 bar (!!). It needs to be replaced soon, hopefully with a PID.

i don't approve of this normalized punctuation and formatting.
still it's a nice choice for graffiti.
I did a short anim of a velvet curtain opening for a recent wedding video I edited. The curtain was modeled as a wavy line, normalized (given segments of equal length) and extruded and segmented down to squares of approximately equal size, so as to faithfully mimic cloth. I made a renderable spline into a deflector and simulated one side of the curtain using Sim cloth 3, the free Chaos Group plugin. (I got used to using simcloth on a production and use it because I know it better than reactor.)
I saved the vertex movement with point cache, linked the curtain and rope (modeled from the same spline the deflector came from) to a dummy object and then made a mirrored copy.
The top curtain, the valence, or part that hangs in folds like scallops, was a fairly simple loft object made in a similar way.
Though I've gotten so used to the wonderful results from the VRay renderer that I rarely regard the scanline renderer as being of any use, it is still faster in many cases, especially when things are in motion and when global illumination would be a waste. I've used the scanline renderer here. Basic material, Oren Nayar Blinn shader, lots of fractal noise maps, nine shadow-mapped lights, instanced, about 256 pixel maps. Meshsmooth and noise world space modifier bindings after vertex animation to give it a little more ripple and irregularity.

Although he misplaced the tooth initially, Cimmorene eventually found it and I believe he got his reward from the tooth fairy.
Scenes from the Training of Trainers workshop for UN Women’s Voices against Violence project, in partnership with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and with the support of Zonta International. From 18-22 October in New York, the workshop brought together 45 youth leaders from the girl guiding movement in Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Slovenia, Tunisia and the United States of America, to learn how to deliver a unique non-formal education curriculum that aims to prevent violence against women and girls.
Pictured: Stefanie Argus is with Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada and a Lead Facilitator for the Voices against Violence curriculum. She believes that preventing violence against women and girls begins with recognizing and questioning the harmful practices and attitudes that have become normalized, and to make impactful change, men and boys must also be engaged in this work. Stefanie introduced the concept of ‘brave space’ in the recently concluded training workshop in New York. “A ‘brave space’ acknowledges that there is risk, difficulty, and controversy associated with discussing issues of identity, oppression, power and privilege. Conversations will not feel comfortable; we must be courageous.”

Extending the immigration transition period beyond 2014 will provide more time for investors, workers, and families to normalize their status under U.S. law. Following up on my standing request to the Secretary of Labor to make his extension determination as soon as possible, I met with James H. Moore, Jr., Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy at the Labor Department. He explained the data-gathering process now underway that will be necessary for the Secretary to make a well-informed decision. I will keep tracking the Labor Department’s progress to be sure that the extension decision can be made without delay.
One of the few places we visited in Artsakh that still hold visual proof of the war. It was pretty unsettling. Stepanakert seems very "normalized" by comparison.
