915 Harley-Davidson Model 11-F - by Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Milwaukee - Wisconsin, USA - 998cc F-head V-Twin engine - 11 bhp - three-speed gearbox - leading-link arrangement with coil spring front suspension - nonexistent rear suspension - double action expending-band rear brake - a Prest-O-Lite headlight powered by acetylene gas - wheelbase 59.5 inch - curb weight 152 kg - 9,855 11-F units sold in 1915

* The V-Twin was invented by Glenn Curtiss in 1904.

* HD used an improved version since 1907, known as "The Silent Grey Fellow".

* The engine had a mechanically driven oil pump for more positive lubrication i.s.o. a hand pump, a major improvement.

* But it lacked the new electrical system (acetylene-burning lights on the 11-F) found on the 11-J, giving the 11-F its nickname "the poor man’s Harley".

* HD is the oldest still producing motorcycle company in the world, founded in 1903.

I wanted to share with you this sunset photo I took five years ago according to Earth time. I was witnessing the simultaneous setting of three giant suns behind the mountains. It was a unique sunset view. Maybe it was a sight that I would never witness again for me. So I blinked as little as I could so as not to miss a single moment. And to show you this unique sunset view, I was constantly taking pictures. Ok, it may have been a bit late posting. Sometimes there are photos that I forget to share. Sometimes I don't even have time to share photos. There are times when I cannot share photos due to communication breakdown. I think this is one of those photos. During the time I was on that planet, I had constant communication problems due to the magnetic storms created by the three great suns. This resulted in a lot of unpublished photos in my archive. I hope it was worth the wait for me for so long.

Hey all! I’m so, so sorry I haven’t been posting. I was laid off from my job on February 10th, a few days before my last post. I’ve not been feeling well, in fact I’m still not, and this blog just felt too much like work that I couldn’t deal with.

I lost my grandmother and a great aunt, as well as a good friend, in the month leading up to me loosing my job, so this year has been simply overwhelming. Currently I’m trying to find a job that isn’t too far from my apartment, since I have an unfortunate fear of driving, and I don’t trust my car to keep it together for much longer and I want to be able to walk.

Mostly the thought of me working with new people, in a new place, is overwhelming. I don’t make friends easily, and I’m honestly a very shy person that usually gets misunderstood as unfriendly. After five and half years at my job, and especially after working through all of lockdown and the height of the pandemic last year, I didn’t have much of a reason to worry about being let go – my position was simply eliminated, and like so many other retail companies they are hiring more part-time employees instead of full-timers, so they couldn’t move me into another position within my store.

I’ve not really left the apartment much over the last four months, and I’ve not really seen any of my friends anyway, so maybe moving on to a different job won’t be so hard. I’ve just reached the point that I can’t think of what to do past tomorrow – I won’t make plans for next month, the month ever, because in my mind my future is nonexistent and I can’t get past thinking that way. I’m not suicidal, I just want to cease to exist. I can’t afford to see a psychiatrist or whatever right now, and I haven’t seen my parents or any of my siblings for three years now and I don’t know if I want to see or talk to them because I feel like such a useless person right now.

Sorry, this has nothing to with the photos or post really, just venting or whatever. Anyway – credits and SLURLs here: thevirtualgentleman.wordpress.com/2021/06/01/blur/

....Here we are, standing at a door step of peace.

A war in which difference between a soldier and a civilian were nonexistent is now over.

This day, the 25th of September 2023 will be remembered as begging of a new age of humanity......

My newest MOC, I think it is the first time I do something bigger related to modern military theme.

I don't have nothing much to say, about the creation, I just hope you enjoy it ;)

Every comment and fave is highly appreciated, so don't be shy!

The lifelessness experienced in so many churches in our day can be traced directly to the multitudes of families in those churches which contain Sunday-morning Christians only. It is plain to see the cause for such deadness when such individuals are not consistently worshiping God in private. Statistics reveal that only 11 percent of all professing Christians in America read their Bible or some portion of it once a day. If so few professing Christians are spending time alone with God, it should not be surprising that family worship as a practice among professing Christian families is practically nonexistent. It's been so long since I've been shooting. My tripod situation remains the same, nonexistent. I feel like I'm just echoing myself, but I do apologize for the lack of uploading. I haven't had time to go shooting with models lately, and there's no way for me to shoot self portraits.

The Dark Doodad Nebula, officially known as LDN 1780, is a stark and beautiful molecular cloud situated in the rich southern constellation of Musca (The Fly). When imaged under Bortle 1 skies, where light pollution is virtually nonexistent, the intricate features of the Dark Doodad Nebula are fully revealed, allowing us to appreciate its true depth and majesty.

Stretching almost five degrees in length, the Dark Doodad is a winding and serpentine dust lane that appears like a calligraphic stroke against the backdrop of stars. The nebula is an intricate dance of shadow and light, where cold molecular gas and dust stand out against the brilliant scatter of stars from the Milky Way.

This nebula is classified as a dark nebula due to the absence of star formation within it. Unlike emission or reflection nebulae, dark nebulae such as the Dark Doodad are characterized by their ability to block out the light from stars and galaxies situated behind them, creating an apparent void in the celestial sphere.

Near the Dark Doodad, observers will find a dense cluster of stars, NGC 4372. This globular cluster is one of the oldest known, with an estimated age of about 12 billion years. These ancient stars, relics from the early universe, offer us a glimpse into the past and the early epochs of cosmic history.

In the vicinity, one can also spot the Coalsack Nebula, another famous dark nebula, and the Southern Cross constellation, which contains several bright stars of scientific and navigational significance.

The Dark Doodad and its neighboring objects serve as a stark reminder of the immense scale of our universe and offer an exquisite visual treat for stargazers and astrophotographers fortunate enough to observe under Bortle 1 skies. Such regions, free from the pervasive light pollution that obscures our view in more populated areas, are increasingly precious in our modern world and vital for continuing exploration and understanding of the cosmos.

Originally built between 1793 and 1797 during the Second Spanish Period, this Spanish Colonial and Neoclassical-style cathedral is the fourth church to occupy a prominent position at the heart of the city of St. Augustine. The original church, built of flammable materials, stood from 1565 until 1586, when it was burned during an attack by English Privateer Sir Francis Drake. Not even a year later, the church was rebuilt of palm logs, with a straw roof, which succumbed to fire in 1599. In 1605, thanks to a tithe from Spain, a timber church was constructed, which stood until a failed English attack on the city in 1702 by James Moore, then-governor of Carolina colony. There were attempts to rebuild the church during the First Spanish Period, starting in 1707, but these went nowhere, and the money intended for the church’s reconstruction were misallocated by corrupt officials. Instead, during the remainder of the First Spanish Period, mass was held in the St. Augustine Hospital. Following the transfer of governance of Florida to the British in 1763, the need for a new Catholic church was nonexistent, as the catholic population of the colony fled to other Spanish colonies. At the start of the Second Spanish Period in 1784, the need for a new church became more apparent, and work on the current cathedral’s Coquina stone walls began in 1793. The facade of the church features Neoclassical elements around the front doorway, with the Spanish Colonial style being employed on the roofline and limited fenestration on the front facade. The church stood in its original configuration until a fire in 1887 destroyed the timber roof structure and did major damage to the interior. Following the fire, Henry Flagler led the effort to have the cathedral rebuilt, with James Renwick, Jr. designing an expansion of the old building, giving it a rectangular cruciform layout, and adding the Spanish Renaissance-style bell tower and European-style transept to the building. The interior was rebuilt to feature exposed decorative timbers that supported the roof structure, and a decorative polychromatic tile floor. The building has since received a few more additions, which house a chapel, service areas, and offices, as well as a building to the rear of the cathedral along Treasury Street, built in the Mediterranean Revival style, which houses the offices of the Diocese of St. Augustine. Today, the cathedral remains a prominent landmark in the city, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and listed as a National Historic Landmark as part of the St. Augustine Town Plan Historic District in 1970.

Once the sun completely disappeared behind the thick blanket of clouds, we were losing light fast. Everything was slowly turning pale grey. A hint of sunset glow lingered in the far distance over the horizon but it would be also gone soon. The park street lights came at the top of Cabrillo Bluff. The lighthouse located at the park also would soon shine its light into the dimming ocean soon. As the sky got grim, the rockshore got busier with the intense tide coming in. It was definitely time to go for that last, almost nonexistent, afterglow before packing up and leaving.

I've had this stupid thing. On my mind. For so long now.

For the six of you wondering, Squad Stories isn't dead, I'm just working on other projects and feeling pretty unmotivated to work on it. But I'm also just kinda not feeling this thing as a whole right now. The community is either nonexistent or a disaster save for a few beacons of light, and I don't have much interest or ideas towards lego right this moment. But so it goes.

Anyways, here's The Squad but Classic Space. They're pretty self explanatory. I kind of love this look for Clock King in general, if I'm to be honest. Rick needs a black belt but I haven't got any.

Cheers, all.

See you guys soon!

It's been a couple of (long) years... With "stay home" orders, park closure and overcrowding, my visits to BPNP had been nonexistent. It was time to see if it still has a place in my heart ...

A stranger who claims to have no memory of his past. Although some have tried, no one has been able to refute this claim - and none have been able to trace him from prior to his arrival on the beaches of Erkelon, far south of Okoto, in a strange "canister". What little knowledge he does have of his nature comes from his recent experience - although he has been awake for but fifteen months - and a few strange "premonitions". He is not even sure of his own name - "Jetera", he says, is only a reconstruction.

Shortly after his arrival, Jetera was chosen to be the Master of Storms of the Toa Vihagu. However, Jetera's control over his electrical element was inconsistent and best, and nonexistent at worst - so he used deception and surprise as his chief tools. Despite his initally aloof and sometimes outright hostile to his teammates, his affinity for them has grown greatly, and the friendships he has with them have become his driving force - as he had no fixed morality or sense of purpose upon arrival.

Here is one for you Americans: In science we trust!

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United Nations, and to the New World Order for which it stands, one post-nation under pseudoscience, divisible, without liberty and justice for all.”

Abort millions of babies…oh wait…now we don’t have enough skilled labour, and who is going to pay taxes to look after our ageing population? We have low birth rates, so let’s bring in large numbers of immigrants. Multiculturalism, let’s make you a melting pot of people. We will erode your culture and values…and who needs borders? The future is tranhumanism! Humans will evolve until there is no race or gender or reproduction…as for culture and borders, they will no longer exist…it’s all part of the plan…divide, conquer, and assimilate into the transhuman revolution. Humans will continue to evolve until they no longer resemble humans. Humans will become extinct. Survival of the fittest! Many will die in this evolution of man and AI, but some will adapt and survive. You will be owned like cattle, and once your purpose is fulfilled, we will get rid of you…like we do to those in the womb today…life isn’t sacred…especially if you aren’t even human…just some sort of parasite. Welcome to the New World Order of transhumanism!

Thankfully we have a Saviour, so things will only go so far. The Mark of the Beast is as far as transhumanism will get. When Jesus returns He will throw all the transhumans into hell. That will be the end of transhumanism. There is no eternal life in transhumanism, except for eternal life in hell.

The Sabre Program: nonexistent. Preposterous rumor. And Noble Team's newest member was never a pilot for it.

I am alive!

This is the MOC I took down to the Christchurch Brick Show in July. Yeah, July. The internet side of my lego life has been virtually (haha, pun not intended :P) nonexistent for ages now.

Some of you might remember the Lego graphic novel I was writing and video blogging about earlier this year, until about April. It and I disappeared from the face of the internet without notice. Sorry about that. My beautiful 1-year-old niece passed away very suddenly at the beginning of May, and the project was not a priority.

Anyhow, hopefully I'll get back to it at some point. It would be really good to actually get something out of it, because it did have a plot and concepts that I really liked. Right now I'm working on my exhibit for the Auckland Brick Show 2014, a part of a pirate/castleish collaboration. It should be pretty cool :)

Thanks for checking this out! :D

Before Kyran was imprisoned in Anderida, he spent many hours in the library of the school for arcane artists. The sole reason he had come to Anderida was not the city's fame and fortune, but the knowledge contained in the school library, which he hoped to use to track down the murderous beings who had killed his parents. The library spanned several vast underground halls, but only a small portion was above ground, yet this one in particular was of special interest to Kyran: It contained knowledge about the darkest creatures in Wynörea. Although he wasn't supposed to be there and shouldn't be involved with dark magic, he often sneaked into this part.He was searching for all possible information about three diabolical shadows. Horrific memories repeatedly flashed before his inner eye: human-like beings whose legs were fluid like black pitch, forming an oily puddle beneath them. Human-like beings with a distinctive helmet covering their nonexistent eyes, human-like beings with a large scythe in their hand and a cloak fluttering around them. Something connected Kyran to these creatures, but his memories were clouded. There were his parents, the strange beings, a wagon, a ruin, a forest... and he couldn't remember much else. During his studies, he delved deeper and deeper into the creatures' dark secrets and black magic. But he would never complete his studies after what happened in the tavern. There was nothing more than a rough idea about what these beings might be.

Part two of the quest will follow soon!

Drama in the nest... another male had just swooped "in"...

I took a year off of posting, all of 2018.

Just before the start of 2018 I also quit FB and IG. Near the end of 2018 I started to share already shared photos on my blog nikographer.com/ and also I shared some new drawings (and old ones too).

It was an interesting year, I still took photos - traveled to Florida and other places, but photography was not nearly the same priority for me, and my online/social activity went to nearly nonexistent.

Also regarding the Smugmug/flickr deal, I was at first excited, but then as the cost seemed to rise (I realized I had paid 50$ for the past 2 renewals, and that the expired credit card was still being used, and that I could not delete the card info itself) and the free account limits went to 1000 images - I decided to prune my account to below 1000 images, even though I'm still pro, so I removed about 5,000 images that I'd post over 13 years. I'm not planning to renew - and I'm going to have one paid site and that's at my own domain name - nikographer.com/.

After a 6-year absence, I’m truly very happy that I had the chance to go out again for a night photography session. First of all, the most important thing is that I had the company of a very important person to me — someone with whom I used to go on outings all these years, but after the arrival of our two children, time became almost nonexistent and we lost touch. However, there are friendships so strong that they don’t break, even with the passing of time.

This is a panorama of 8 vertical shots. I hope you like the result!!

Introducing my Self-MOC! This is actually the 12th version (12.4 to be exact) and a character reboot, though, and I have revamped the whole thing again since this version, too. I will post a picture showing some of the previous versions (I don't have pictures of pre-7th versions, except for the very first), just so you can get an idea of the evolution of the character.

---DESCRIPTION---

Nicknamed "Rahksha" due to her Makuta heritage, Nyctoria is somewhat of a Toa: the most accurate way to put it is, she's a protector...of sorts. She has a strong link with the Netherverse, enabling her to draw on its dark power to perform necromancy, as well as harvest souls and summon them as Netherwalkers (inhabitants of the Netherverse) with her scythe. She can also reanimate corpses to serve her by using seals on their Kanohi.

However, the power of the Netherverse always takes it toll, and the user's soul - and therefore body - will decay the more they use it. The only way to maintain oneself is to harvest the souls of others. Hence, Nyctoria hunts down villains to defeat and consume.

While Nyctoria does defend others from Makuta and other threats, she is not altrustic in her motives -- she will just as easily consume innocents if there is no other source available, and rarely helps others unless she perceives them or the target as useful in her quest for revenge against her "father", Teridax -- and by extension, her de facto creator, Mutran.

As an individual, Nyctoria is largely anti-social, apathetic and an on-off misanthrope - hardly surprising considering her origins. That being said, she is not without a sense of justice and empathy, although her concept of morality is nonexistent at worst and dubious at best.

"Every aspect of Nature reveals a deep mystery and touches our sense of wonder and awe. Those afraid of the universe as it really is, those who pretend to nonexistent knowledge and envision a Cosmos centered on human beings will prefer the fleeting comforts of superstition. They avoid rather than confront the world. Ghost Figure According to a Group of Scientists:

Can Be Seen If The Brain Is Affected By Very Low Frequency

Until now scientists still do not believe in the existence of ghosts. Even if the ghost is present, but it is still difficult to prove it in reality. Because according to people who believe, ghosts are in another world, invisible, but sometimes can be felt even visible on certain occasions.

If they (ghosts) do exist, then what is a ghost? From what are they formed? What creatures are they? Could it be that the ghost consists of material that has gas, molecules, ions or something else? Or it could be, a ghost consists of a substance or element that scientists have never known.

Scientists are still investigating mystical phenomena about the existence of this ghost. Then another question arises, how can ghosts change? How can they penetrate walls or other material? How are they created? How do they end? Or is the ghost just an eye illusion, an ear illusion or just an illusion of feeling?

Whatever the ghost, scientists still take research from the point of science or science alone. And they still believe that ghosts are illusions made by the brain in certain circumstances.

If it is true that ghosts are illusions made by the brain, the classic question arises again, how can the brain make the illusion of ghostly sightings? What makes the brain have this illusory or imaginary ability?

Investigation

Some scientists joined forces to investigate this mystical phenomenon. They conducted an experiment in the most haunted place in America, an old prison that had long been unused in the Eastern State Penitentiary in the Philadelphia area of America.

From several witnesses in the area, they have admitted that they sometimes see things like flying creatures floating in the prison. And the incident happened several times.

This investigation requires several volunteers who will observe the haunted prison. The chosen volunteers must be people who do not trust ghosts and not cowards.

Then all the incarcerated angles and rooms that will be used for testing are equipped with various types of infrared cameras, electromagnetic field detectors, temperature sensors, audio and video sensors and other cutting-edge technologies. Even some of the devices and technologies used are exactly the same as NASA uses.

After each corner and hall and corridor of the old prison were given the equipment, they observed a full day but no suspicious objects.

On the second night, volunteers were deployed. All volunteers were placed in several detention cells overnight. What do you think of volunteers?

The volunteers did not feel anything, let alone the presence of ghost phenomena. They only felt cold but stuffy air, "Maybe because in this cell room there is no air circulation," said one volunteer.

Some say that, "The air inside the moist cell causes less fresh air to be inhaled, like a bad odor," said the volunteer.

During the day until dawn, none of the volunteers felt an anomaly. They don't see strange phenomena, strange appearances or hear something strange.

On the third day. Scientists use a little trick. Initially this trick was only a trial and error of some previous investigation literature. They prepared several low loudspeakers (subwoofers). Then without the volunteers knowing it, the subwoofer was placed in some hidden place and could not be seen by the volunteers later.

The low loudspeaker will then be activated and will vibrate under the senses of human hearing, aka infra-sonic. When the amplifier is turned on the loudspeaker membrane will go back and forth with great force but there will be no sound heard by humans.

Evenings arrived, like the previous nights they were all prepared with communication tools that could be monitored and also did not forget to bring their respective flashlights. After about half an hour, scientists turned on the sub-woofer type loudspeakers. Before long, there was an atmosphere that according to volunteers "uncomfortable".

The volunteers reported that for some reason their heads were a little dizzy, the heart was slightly pounding, the nape of the neck and wrists were creeping, some even saw smoke coming out of the wall. That night was so weird unlike the night before, what had really happened to them?

Low Frequency Waves

Sub-woofer type loudspeakers that emit low frequency waves are the cause. How come, what happened?

Each frequency has a wavelength and each wave has its own weaknesses and shortcomings.

Unlike other ordinary waves, at very low frequency or VLF, it has properties that can easily penetrate a material such as wood, walls, soil and even some types of metals.

And also easily, these very low waves can also penetrate the human body.

As long as there are waves that can penetrate our bodies, then these waves must also penetrate and affect the biological organs in the human body, including the brain.

Therefore the researchers who are also scientists are very interested in this phenomenon. What causes the influence of human behavior in a state of restlessness, discomfort, and even hallucinations can be affected by very low frequency waves (VLF).

From the results of his research, it turns out that the human brain is very vulnerable to the presence of this VLF wave. There are several parts of the brain whose nerve cells are not affected by VLF, but there are also affected parts. Some of the parts of the brain that are affected by VLF are parts of the brain that regulate the balance and awareness system.

And the balance and awareness system will ultimately affect the senses that are connected and coordinated to him.

With the influence of the balance and awareness system on the human brain, the brain will command certain cells to other senses, such as the eye that can see things that do not exist but seem to exist.

The ear which functions as a balance also begins to be affected by incorrect information from the brain, then begins to feel dizzy and also has a hearing effect that does not actually exist, such as hearing a woman's voice, a child crying and loud sounds.

Other senses have also been shown to be influenced by information from the brain that is misinformed due to the impact of Very Low Frequency (VLF) waves. Including the sense of smell, smell the flower that is actually not there. Feelings like the skin also cause a feeling of "goosebumps" on the hands and neck.

During this session, humans will experience such "hallucinations" because the brain is affected by VLF and dis-information occurs and affects other human senses. And in the next session, humans can see "ghosts".

Low frequencies are everywhere

Then where does the low frequency around us come from? Low frequencies are everywhere and can be triggered by various ways.

Naturally low frequencies can be triggered by very low and slow vibrations. Starting from the leaves or reeds blown by the wind, from falling water droplets, from raindrops, from the low rotation of the fan and from anything that is vibrating and has a very, very low vibration.

Especially if you are inside an old building like this prison. Humidity due to dripping water, grass, wind noise and others greatly affects the human senses.

Therefore, scientists are very sure that ghost sightings are triggered by dysfunction of the way the brain works that have been affected by the VLF.

Very Low Frequency Advanced Research

As a result of the discovery of "accidental" which originated from research on ghosts, it continues to be a research on - changing and regulating human behavior (human behavior). And this actually makes it a stepping stone to the latest technologies.

The researchers immediately focused on this "secret behind low frequency".

The only one that also uses low frequency is H.A.A.R.P. (High frequency Active Auroral Research Program) or Aurora High Frequency Active Inquiry Program.

Yes, initially high frequency. Then what if low frequencies are transmitted through these HAARP antennas? Many studies of high frequency rather than low frequency. And through HAARP but emitted low frequencies (not just high frequency ones), unexpected things can happen. And this will certainly always be disarmed and not recognized by the parties concerned.

Once it is "not investigated" this very low frequency capability, so that humans can see the non-existent, and can hear the nonexistent, but all seems to really exist. And that is why ghosts exist and can be seen, according to science ...

Houtong Cat Village: an entire town overrun by cats. Some of them stray, but a surprising percentage of them seem to be somewhat domesticated.

Further down the street, away from the train station, the buildings become a little more abandoned or, in some instances, nonexistent. Nevertheless, the residents take some pride in their town and try to make it a little more interesting to look at.

William "Billy" McIntosh Stark, the first Canadian with a pilot´s license and his wife Olive in a Curtiss school plane in Sand Diego in 1912. My colorization of an image in the City of Vancouver archives.

The Canadian Museum of Flight tells the story:

"High speed and danger tend to appeal to a certain type of individual, so it was hardly surprising that a well-known Vancouver auto racer, Billy Stark, took up flying. Since there were no flying schools in Canada in 1911, Stark went to San Diego, California, to enroll in the only aviation school on the Pacific coast. Glenn Curtiss, the world-famous aircraft designer and builder, was giving expert flying instruction in the hopes of selling his airplanes to successful students. Stark progressed through the complete course, learning aircraft handling and repair and basic engine maintenance. In an era when aviation mechanics and riggers were all but nonexistent, each pilot had to know enough to keep his machine operating efficiently and safely. His life depended on it.Billy Stark returned to British Columbia with his pilot's licence and a new Curtiss “Flyer.” On April 24, 1912, Stark took Daily Province sports editor Jim Hewitt up for a flight. Hewitt, who was British Columbia's first air passenger, related his impressions of the flight to his readers.Later that same day, Olive Stark became the first woman airplane passenger in Canada. She sat beside her husband on the lower wing of his Curtiss, bundled up against the cold, looking both proud and apprehensive.Stark's Curtiss was typical of pre-World War 1 machines. It was a “finely tuned” mass of wire, bamboo, interplane struts, and spruce, covered by stretched and doped fabric. The engine was a six-cylinder, water-cooled “V”-type, which was fueled by a gasoline tank mounted above it to permit gravity feed. A single steering wheel controlled height and direction of flight. Flying wires stretched between the wings had to be properly tightened to ensure structural strength. Very light in weight, these machines were easily damaged in their all-too-frequent crashes. Stark was injured late in 1912, after making numerous personal appearances at events around the province."

Blue gold sky

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Your fire is burning

Horizon questions why

Your evening is yearning

For a day that is soon gone

Into oblivion abyss

To carry the night on

In dreamy nocturnal kiss

All the blue gold is bound

Into your drifting clouds

Sunset of silver found

Among the streets and crowds

Love song of dusky distant

Where weaving dreams go

In to the nonexistent

Of ocean’s nightly glow

Blue gold sky

Yesterday is in your sight

When you come in sweet lullaby

In the falling off the eve light

Chariot of fire gold

Blue silver moon beyond

Nothing your dreams can hold

You are to stars whishes bond

It's a Church and parsonage of Cuervo, New Mexico. No doubt it started as a barn and house, but in the never wealthy (and now almost nonexistent) town of Cuervo, it would do as a church. Except for the sign (which reads: "[undecipherable] Memorial Baptist Church"], there is nothing inside to indicate what it once was.

This was very late afternoon, which was the wrong time to be in this spot, obviously. Mid-morning would have been the ticket. No chance for any nude photography here as it was windy and quite chilly.

A walk into town to pick up a neighbour’s prescription gave me the opportunity to take a couple of shots and here we see Sanders former Nottingham City Transport East Lancs bodied Scania N94UD Omnidekka type number 115 - YN53 CFF “OCEANUS” as it passes through “the narrows” section of Church Street in Cromer whilst working the above service X44 journey. The infamous “marmite regeneration” of Cromer Town Centre which took place in the early 2000s, resulted in the whole length of Church Street being narrowed to provide wider pavements, although in this original narrow section they remain virtually nonexistent, especially beside The Albion PH to the right. Hard to believe this was once a two way thoroughfare. In the background we can see the tower of St Peter & St Paul’s church, at 160ft the tallest in Norfolk. The church has undoubtedly witnessed many events in the 600 plus years it has dominated the town, but surely nothing quite like the year 2020.

Originally named “CASSIUS” when it joined the Sanders fleet in June 2017, vehicle 115 had lost the name by July 2019, but was subsequently rechristened at some point during the first Coronavirus lockdown period and certainly by July 2020.

Stumbled upon a stand of giant reeds the other day while photographing nearby farmland. I normally give these things a wide berth because, in my mind, they are crawling with ticks and infested with snakes. But the cold autumn air emboldened me to draw near. Snake activity poses little or no risk now and ticks would have a difficult time penetrating the many layers of clothing that covered me. What attracted me in the first place was the patch of golden color in the otherwise bleak landscape. And I loved the way the reeds seemed to sway and flow in response to the wind. It gave the impression of peace and serenity. So much so that I decided to enter into the patch to see what it was like inside. Easier said than done I soon found as the reeds grow densely packed. Once inside I quickly found appearances can be deceiving. The tranquility I imagined was nonexistent. Inside the patch was a tangled and very claustrophobic sense of confusion. Felt very confining in there, and the effect was magnified by the sheer height of the reeds, with the uppermost leaves waving 12 feet or more above ground level. Still I stood my ground and began shooting. What I loved most was the interplay of blue sky against the golden hue of the reeds. In post processing I fell in love with this image, probably the most flawed of the series but it best conveys the feeling of being inside, looking out.

It was humblingly inspiring to sleep on so much history and adventure beneath and around you in such a remote place in the middle of nowhere, literally - only vast spaces of violent and unfriendly Ocean around you. This is where you just barely get to grasp the size proportions of the Universe - we're on just a nonexistent and unsiginificant rock travelling in the middle of Space Time.

A tremendously popular spot amongst eastern sierra photographers is the Leaf Tunnels along North Lake Road off route 168 just outside the town of Bishop California. Being from the east coast, I grew up in a place where trees did quite a job of showing off their autumn colors.... Each year it took me but a minutes drive to reach colored countryside where I could wander up a forest stream painted with neon leaves... or perhaps an Oceanside drive along rows of red maples..... I have memories of walking to school thru piles and piles of leaves... like giant crayola snow drifts. Now, here in LA, things are a bit different, autumn leaves are almost nonexistent and about as exciting as Patriots football to the so cal locals.... but me, I'm a traveler and I like to seek out things. Like... hmmmm... leaf Tunnels rumored just beyond the gates of the eastern sierra's :) They really are beautiful to see and to walk thru. For me, the bright eyed and inquisitive traveler and light hunter that I am, it was like walking to school again. How many times it's been photographed or how many photographers are walking around plays no part in my photograph taking. I noticed something that caught my attention and I recorded it to take with me back to my dwelling in Los Angeles. So without further a do... drum roll please.... I present... my very own interpretation of the world famous "Leaf Tunnel at North Lake" seen thru a Canon 70-200MM lens and recorded with a 5D mark II by little ol me.

At the moment, I'm reminded of something my big brother, whom I love dearly, said to me when I was in my early 20's and struggling to find my way as an artist in the business of music. It's very powerful and it's stuck with me ever since. Let it guide you, as it has me, if you ever momentarily lose your way.

Portfolio & Services

During my week at the PSSA congress, we made many trips into the nearby Golden Gate park. Every day we would pass this massive sandstone butte as it is near the entrance of the park and I'm sure is often photographed.

I was always with photographers who have been to this park many times, so I am sure they have gotten their fill of this spot. And like all of us who shoot a location again and again, the light and weather have to be right to make you want to stop and photograph the same location again.

Well, on the 2nd to last day in this region, we were driving back to the estate we were staying at when I asked the driver to stop. The sandstone was glowing and I hurried to find a vantage point. The shots were ok, but the light on the rocks faded all too quickly.

So on the final night here, I specifically asked to come to this spot. We parked at the campground (located at the green trees in the middle left of the frame) and we walked all the way up to this vantage point...right next to a pull out on the main road. Oh well.

The clouds were nonexistent, but I just wanted to share the potential for landscape photography in this area. The rainy season brings thunderstorms and greener grasses. And it snows here in the winter, which I am certain looks amazing against the warmth of the sandstone formations. Guess I'll just have to go back!

A few snaps from a couple of memorable days on the Cambrian line chasing weekend specials up to Talerddig in 1966. Given the lack of road traffic and an enthusiastic driver, two or three shots of each train were possible on the climb – great fun if you could avoid Jones the Plod.

Apologies for the quality or the images but unfortunately to add to the burden of a rather poor camera, Mid Wales produced its normal cloudy and dull conditions. Any light there was around was unlikely to be reflected off the truly appalling external conditions of the locomotives. By 1966 the well cared for Manors had gone and generally 75XXX and 80XXX tanks were in charge but a few 76XXX class were drafted in to see out their last days assisting trains over the bank and were withdrawn once the summer extras had finished. The external condition of these in particular was probably the worst I remember in steam days.

Given the potential of the steam action up the hill, there does seem a scarcity of action shots at the many superb locations, and video (8 or 16mm film ?) seems virtually nonexistent. Perhaps everyone was tup north or on the Southern.

One of the few Class 4s to retain its front number by 1966 was 75002 seen heading east and passing Talerddig’s distant signal in some style.

Funerals are a funny thing.

It makes me think that we take being alive for granted. We don't know how long we have in this world. Yet, to see people always complaining that they’re getting old while others don't even have the chance to experience being old makes me wonder how far off we are from what's really important.

We are so wrapped up with our wants, our goals, and our desires that we fail to enjoy the beauty of the mundane.

I would think about it sometime, after living around the world for years, how I missed having a home.

How I missed being nosy with my grandmother, our daily squabbles or our bonding over something as simple as sharing a cup of avocado smoothie.

I want to practice myself in seeing more of the now, in appreciating the smallest of things instead of worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet or in regretting something in the past because I fail to appreciate it then.

So to be present, to be fantastically alive.

Sometimes I need to remind myself I’m not the only one that gets older, my grandmother too.

**We left early yesterday to attend a family emergency. My photo schedule is disrupted, my allocated time to edit is nonexistent, and the best of all I don't have a tripod with me. Grandma, please be my human tripod for a couple of days????

I spent so much time staring at my window seat. I'll try to come up with images around that airplane wing!

Also, I got to witness the most beautiful colored sunset yet, in mint green and pink! Or maybe it's just the glass tint but who cares?

Talk to you guys when I get back!! Stay awesome for now :D

The 150 canals of Venice are its streets - roads for land passenger vehicles are nonexistent.

Everyone must travel by foot or boat, tourists and locals alike.

Catching one of these vaporetto (water bus) to get around is great and cheap.

Venice is very unique and fascinating, getting lost is part of the adventure!

It's one of my favourite place, would love to go back again one day.

Franklin Mountains

El Paso, Texas

Every year around late February and early March, El Pasoans look forward to the return of poppy flowers to the eastern slopes of the Franklin Mountains. Depending on rainfall during the preceding months, the poppy blooms can range anywhere from extensive to almost nonexistent. 2020 has turned out to be an above-average bloom. By mid- to late-March the poppies will fade away with the coming of warmer weather, not to be seen again until the next year.
