A beautiful carpet, hand knotted in the province of Fars in Southwest Iran by nomads. Beautiful colors, dyed with plants and minerals makes a nice handicraft of good quality.

Not much wool on these cute sheep.

Different colors on the sheep gives different colors of the wool.

The finest handmade carpets are made from wool of very high quality, the finest wool can be found around the neck of the sheep. This wool is called cork wool and are used in very fine carpets from Isfahan and Ghom for example.

The wool is packed in large sacks and then transported away for the next step in the process.

When the wool is sheared from the sheep, it is much more comfortable being out in the sun.

When shearing the wool, the use of old style scissors are used.

When the wool on the sheep is long enough it is time for it to be sheared.

In order to do the shearing as fast and quick as possible, the need of a really sharpened scissor is needed.
