I cannot better express the importance of our American veteran's than above but I can ask that all of us honor, respect, and thank them every chance you get. A country built on freedom does not exist without those willing to defend her and those freedoms that we all enjoy. Veteran's are the backbone, the foundation, and the heroes of the United States of America and should always be treated as such...Happy Veteran's Day and THANK YOU!
Whilst the Florida cities of Tampa, Bradenton and Lakeland have lately removed their Confederate War Memorial statues, the one in Brooksville that stands guard outside the Hernando County Courthouse is staying where it is. To counter any vandalism by protestors, protective railings have recently been installed.

New protective railings now guard the Confederate War Memorial that stands outside the Hernando County Courthouse in Brooksville FL. This contrasts with the recent fate of similar war memorials in Tampa, Lakeland and Bradenton, which were removed in the wake of mounting public criticism that the statues were an inappropriate reminder of the Confederate States’ ties with slavery.
Indeed, Brooksville itself is named after one of the staunchest defenders of slavery, South Carolina Rep. Preston Brooks. In 1856, he attacked and nearly killed abolitionist Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts. This event was a polarising factor in the slide towards civil war.

L-R : Harish Pawar, Nitin Mane, Jitendra Salunke, Ajit Salunke. The modern day heroes who have initiated a noble cause of cleaning the Forts of The Great Maratha Warrior from the stupid graffitis etched by the equally stupid people. They have been doing this since last many years while managing their livelihood. I met them at Torna Fort.
