Ein Leben ist wie ein Garten. Man kann perfekte Augenblicke erleben, aber sie können nicht bewahrt werden; ausser in der Erinnerung.

Life is like a garden . There can be a perfect moment, but this moment can´t be preserved ; except in memory .

Come and join in as a roleplayer or just explore and photograph as sims of many genres - from Aetherpunk to Victorian magic, medieval fantasy to a world underwater can be found here. Located in Los Angeles. We were there for hours. There's also a theater named after Leonard Nimoy. It was built in his honour abut year before he died. I do not have pics of it from my Canon, but I have plenty of iPhone pics that I share later on.

Still have more pics inside and out.

In a recent interview George Lucas revealed that his original intention was to cast Beaker from the Muppets as Luke Skywalker and Leonard Nimoy as Yoda (not pictured). Unfortunately Beaker couldn't get out of his contract with the Muppets and it was decided that even though Nimoy had the right ears he was too tall.

But just imagine the classic lines of Luke Skywalker delivered with the verve and eloquence of Beaker.

Not the Nimoy series, but this Yellow-throated Warbler is on the hunt!

I'm sure you all remember the episode of Star Trek where Captain Kirk's mind was trapped in Michael Jackson's body. That's a classic, but did you notice that Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy had had an emergency appendectomy the day the episode was filmed) was played by Paul Rubens--better known as Peewee Herman? Watch the episode again and you'll be shocked. I know I was.

There were some scientists

Tryin' to figure out the sasquatch riddle

Then they figured out it was a missing link

In search of sasquatch - That was a kick ass In search of.

With Leonard nimoy kicking out the jams

He captured imaginations of people all around the globe

His name was sasquatch so I am told

His legend's ancient in the ancient scribe

Of the Indian tribe (apache tribe)

Scientists have proven that the sasquatch he is real

Take a look at the plaster cast of his foot now you know he's real

Listen real close to the audio tape not human now you know he's real

Couldn't be a man in gorilla suit no fuckin' way now you know he's real

Real real real-real real real really-real real

In addition to his well known showbiz achievements, Leonard Nimoy was an accomplished photographer who published several stunning books of his work which you can get a taste of HERE.

In 2011, I had the privilege of hearing him speak about his photography during a slide presentation of his work at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles where I shot this photo. As a fan of both photography and Mr. Spock, it was a real thrill!

I love landscape photographs. But sometimes I feel the need to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

After all, it's the FEAR and UNCERTAINTY that keep us going.

I came across an article on long exposure architectural photography not along ago and I found it really interesting. I like good architecture and I thought I would try it out.

This is the Leeds Broadcasting Tower, part of the Leeds Beckett University. You're not alone if you're thinking along the line of radio or TV broadcasting. I don't think it actually does any of that. It was awarded the Best Tall Building In The World in 2010 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

Post-Processing

The image was taken with the camera pointing straight up to the sky. I used separate exposures for the building and the sky. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest 16 (ND16) really helped to get the motion blur for the clouds during bright daylight. Post-processed with luminosity masks in Photoshop and Nik SIlver Efex Pro.

Thanks for visiting and have a nice day ! =)

Spock and Mini Spock give it two Vulcan Salutes (the equivalent of two thumbs up for you Terrans!)!

This is not your momma's Star Trek! But that is a good thing! Never before has Star Trek provided so many nail biting, edge of your seat moments! It is much hipper and somewhat more believeable than the typical Trek of old, and has a much more frenetic pace. However, the filmmakers never lose track of what made the original Trek work so well - the characters!

The characterizations here are all very faithful and strong. All of the main characters get their moment(s) in the spotlight.

Not only is this movie much more action packed and exciting than ye olde Trek, it's a lot funnier too, with lots of great character driven humor. McCoy and Scotty in particular are hilarious and the actors playing them deserve special reckognition for so sucessfully capturing the essence of these characters. Of course, it's all about Kirk and Spock and here again, both actors do an excellent job with these Sci Fi icons. Chris Pine in particular does a great job of giving us a Kirk who still seems like Kirk without doing a cheesy Shatner impersonation. He owns the character and makes it his own, as does Zachary Quinto as Spock. Eric Bana's villian, Nero is quite excellent, I only wish we had seen a bit more of him. Leonard Nimoy's appearances in the film are all fantastic and serve the purpose of passing the torch quite well. You'll want to cheer when he first shows up!

Continuity hounds should not allow themselves to be thrown or discouraged by events that seem at odds with established Trek lore, if you hang in there, all will be explained, just sit back and enjoy the ride. There are a few minor things that seem like plot holes to me, but they didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the movie and I don't think most people will notice them, they'll be too busy having a good time!

The designs of everything in the film harkens back to what made the original series so cool, but succesfully purges them of their dated, somewhat silly elements.

This is hardly the best film ever made, but it is a great tribute to a Sci Fi classic which constantly entertains and leaves you begging for more. It is the best reboot/reimagining of something I've ever seen. It's one hell of an origin story for this legendary crew, but it is nothing less than what such classic characters deserve.

if this movie doesn't re-energize the Trek franchise, then frankly NOTHING ever will. In fact I suspect it will re-energine the entire sci-fi space opera genre in general.

May the new Trek franchise Live Long and Prosper!

NOTE: I have a spoiler-filled review as well which is only visible to people who are marked as friends, If I haven't marked you as a friend yet and you'd like to check it out, send me a Flickr e-mail!

You guys don't know, but I am a Trekkie.

Well, I have to confess the only full Star Trek series I've seen are the Originals (plus the movies).

Why? Because of Spock. He is my favourite character.

So I was shocked to hear that Leonard Nimoy passed away...

This picture is a little tribute to one of my favourite actors and characters.

That is the Chinese for 'rather nicely lit hydrangea'. Or it's what SKYNET thinks should be the translation for that phrase. I'm probably being hunted right now by a rabid band of dumpling lovers who are concerned about where I told them to stuff their delightful cooked balls of dough.

Title in honour of a muddy puddle shot of mine being featured on the Chinese version of the flickr blog for a 'Best of 2009...' shot. The Chinese version is *so* much more exclusive than the old traditional English version you know and boy, do they pick the bestest pictures.

Rest in Peace Leonard Nimoy .....

I may never come down--galaxy collisions are rad!!!

View it LARGE.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I found the coolest web ever and decided to make my own Hubble Space Telescope following their instructions: The Hubble Site

I wanted to celebrate 18 years of the Hubble Space Telescope (April 24, 1990 - April 24, 2008) and go see all the galaxy collisions in person after they released 59 new photos for the Anniversary event.

I decided to bring along my peace sign in case I run into any unfriendly space creatures. I'm also using my spacecraft/telescope to further my politcal campaigning with George Clooney...I hope we can get the Alien Vote.

Do you see all the cool things I do like a sea turtle and a heart? Gotta go, my pal Gazoo wants to go chase after that cosmic jelly fish....

p.s. My sleek spacesuit is the latest in technology and is made out of nylon and spandex and is called Biofit. It relies on mechanical counter-pressure instead of using gas pressurization. It'll be another 10 years until humans can wear them, but I can now, cuz Blythes are light years ahead of humans.

Kirk and Spock by Mattel

I met you before the fall of rome

And I begged you to let me take you home

You were wrong, I was right

You said goodbye, I said goodnight

Its all been done

Its all been done

Its all been done before

I knew you before the west was won

And I heard you say the past

Was much more fun

You go your way, I go mine

But Ill see you next time

Its all been done

Its all been done

Its all been done before

And if I put my fingers here, and if I say

i love you, dear

And if I play the same three chords,

Will you just yawn and say

Its all been done

Its all been done

Its all been done before

Alone and bored on a 30th century night.

Will I see you on the price is right?

Will I cry? will I smile?

As you run down the aisle.

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP ~ Leonard Nimoy

The minute I learned this existed, I had to have it, won an e-bay auction on it that cost less than what it would've cost me to buy it on my favorite online store, BigBadToystore.

They did a pretty good job! One of these fines days I'll do some proper closeup shots of my Pez collection so you can see what I mean.

What's sad though is that this set is so great and has the complete crew, yet the Star Wars Pez collection is hardly as complete and has some glaring ommissions like Han Solo and Obi Wan Kenobi!
