Almost to the nectar in the last few blooms from our George Davidson Crocosmia! A female Rufous Hummingbird is hoping to avoid detection from the other Hummingbirds in our yard to enjoy the Crosmia flowers.

A Great Blue Heron flyby. I was outside photographing some of our song birds, when a GBHE flew by on his way to the Columbia River.

A Mourning Dove flying in to one of our feeding stations. She almost landed on our deck where I was photographing her!

An adorable juvenile Black-capped Chickadee! This little one took a nap in the sun on top of our Camas Basalt Rock. Once he was rested he flew to the feeders for a snack, a drink of water, and made several stops at trees and bushes, before he flew to a neighbors yard. It was fun to watch this little cutie trying to navigate his take offs and landings.

A female Lesser Goldfinch foraging for seeds in the cones of the Black-eyed Susans. We do not trim back the seed heads which contain Rudbeckia seeds, that the finches love to eat. Today we had 22 Lesser Goldfinches in foraging the seed heads!
