Finally ! I had tried to go out aurora chasing with my teammate (colinhansen1967, go check his photostream) for several months now, since he had never seen the auroras or even taken photos of it. So yeah not a bad setup for his first time, and the addition of the rising Milky Way sure was a treat !

Anyway this is just a panorama I quickly stitched together and edited before going to bed, not ideal work but you get the idea. ;-)

The Andromeda Galaxy (also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224, is a spiral galaxy approximately 780 kiloparsecs (2.5 million light-years) from Earth. It is the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way and was often referred to as the Great Andromeda Nebula in older texts. It received its name from the area of the sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which was named after the mythological princess Andromeda. Being approximately 220,000 light years across, it is the largest galaxy of the Local Group, which also contains the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 44 other smaller galaxies.

Edit; Now full timelapse of the shower visible here

vimeo.com/285337671

This has to be one of the toughest astro image I've done and manually processed, with around 60 carefully selected and aligned Perseids out of over 500 sub frames of 10 seconds each, this shower was somewhere between 1:24 till 3 am local time of central Evia island, Greece

I decided to chose the sky frame where the bright fireball hit around 2:22 am, since it affected the landscape so much, lighting the ground, turning the sky blue, and especially reflecting on the high cloud that was there during that moment, which was kind of covering the Milky Way (watch video of the fireball explosion here www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fs6wjRdaJk)

Gear used: Nikon D810a / 14-24 f2.8 @14mm / tripod (no tracking)
