Taken in the Purana Paltan Jaame Masjid, today was the nikkah (marriage) of one of my closest friend Rayhan, it was done in this peaceful mosque, wish him and his wife Humera, a very happy married life of peace and prosperity.
I had to go searching through the archives today and I came across one of my most favorite images. I LOVE this one. First red is my most very favorite color to shot and second she is just gorgeous.

Danielle Fox Juror’s Statement
When I think of luminosity, I think of something that is glowing from within. A luminous glow evokes a sense of awe and wonder, as it suggests that a hidden source of energy is at work. Luminosity is not a thing in the world, but rather a sensory experience and emotional response. To recreate this kind of metaphysical experience with an object (and at their most banal, all the artworks in this show are objects, whether a painting, photograph, or sculpture) is, I believe, a skill of the highest order when it comes to art. Now mind you, western artists have been transfixed by this goal at least since early Byzantine painting, and since then many approaches have become very cliché. Unfortunately, when we see a trope used too often in art, the wonder and awe tend to diminish. I hope that the group I have offered presents diverse approaches to luminosity, including a variety of styles and media, while still feeling very contemporary.

An alluring affiancing started from here with the diversity of venues to shoot for the rest of the wedding rituals. This is the 1st one for Umair Azmat !
Pakistani Wedding would have the range of festivities & customs linked to it. To many it remains a mystery. Wedding or so called Shadi has roots deep into people's daily life. Most parents seem to be plotting their child's wedding the moment it is conceived.
The planning starts with Mangni, or engagement. which has a story of its own. Family is of the utmost importance here - it is generally assumed that if the family is good then the son or daughter is good too.. Then comes, Mayoun, which kicks off the shadi process. The mayoun generally disolves into a dolki, which is a generic term for singing popular songs of all kinds. The girl, now officially the dulhan, or bride, wears a simple yellow outfit. Then comes those dance practices leading up to the Mehndi, which prove to be the funnest times of the whole process. After the entertainment there is a feast. As is the case with almost all major Pakistani gatherings, the success of the party is almost always linked to the quality of the food, so particular attention is paid to this part of the evening.
Next comes that Sehra Bandi, when the groom is center of attention, relatives are all dressed up in vibrant colors, bestowing shiny gifts, normally Gold & Silver along with the money. The process Barat lead to the Nikkah, which is a legal bond between two souls. The marriage is declared by Relegious Priest and everyone starts to hug and say Mubarak. The dulhan (Bride) is brought to the stage and stands with her man before being seated.
Next day the the family of Groom throws a huge party, inviting everyone they ever knew to the feast. This ends the process of Shadi but the not to the customs that would continue for the lifetime of this couple.
There are so many times when bride or groom just sit and people then began taking pictures of them in every possible configuration of family member you can imagine. I am sharing here one of those moments, when one of my cousin is going through Sehra Bandi, and his sister is presenting him with a ring.
Quick edits from Friday's Indian Wedding at Poona Indian Restaurant in the Atlanta suburbs. Well, technically a Bangladeshi wedding but for a Desi wedding! Shot with the usual Canon 5D Mark III's as my main cameras but with the new Sony A7r as my third camera around my neck. Used the Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 ZA and a few at the end taken with the Canon 85mm f/1.2L II and a Metabones EF-E Mark III adapter.

What's better than ordering a nikkah cake for your daughter's nikka? Ordering TWO nikkah cakes for BOTH your daughters' nikkahs. My warmest congratulations to all the family!
One chocolate cake and one vanilla, one with turquoise, one with dark pink - both edged with gorgeous gold edible cake lace and finished with a gold qabool topper and hand-made sugar roses.
