I hiked the Yellowwood Lake loop in the Yellowwood State Forrest. Southern Indiana is quite hilly, and it was very hot. This 5 mile trail was a serious challenge for my “out of shape” ass. I really need to lay off the cheeseburgers. :-) I managed to get a few shots along the way.

Today’s destination was a cave, in southern Indiana . This is my first experience photographing insects inside a cave. Needless to say, this environment offers many interesting subjects (and challenges). My uncle, (an experienced spelunker and curator of paleontology for the Indiana State Museum), was my guide for this expedition. Because of a fungal infection driving many bat species to extinction, we had to “decontaminate” all of our gear after we left the cave. I guess I better get used to it, as I plan to do a lot more “cave buggin” the future.

It rained last Friday, all day. So I took my camera and a large umbrella to White River Gardens and shot flowers in a down pour.
I wish there was some dark sky in Indiana. :-) Maybe I can talk all the farmers into turning off their lights a couple nights a month?
