I am looking forward to continued inspirations from Flickr friends in the New Year. Enjoy the moments exploring our world through a lens. I am spending real time with family over the holidays but I am eager to see what is new on your photo streams in the New Year.

I'd like to wish all my flickr friends and followers the very best for the New Year. Thank you for your support, encouragement and comments this year. Thank you also for all your wonderful photographs!

May your New Year's Eve be a festive one, whatever you choose to do. May 2020 be a happy and prosperous year for you all.

This clock has seen through many New Year's Eves before. Made around 1890 to 1900, it is a French Art Nouveau clock with a hand painted porcelain face with a guilloché centre dial. The entire clock may be removed from its stylised Art Nouveau foliate housing which is upheld by a beautiful Art Nouveau woman. It requires daily winding. After around 130 years, she still keeps good time for a Grande Dame.

Drive All Night

‘I swear I'll drive all night just to buy you some shoes

And to taste your tender charms

And I just wanna sleep tonight again in your arms’

New Year’s Eve sees two drivers about to board their train at York. I hope the picture serves as a little tribute to all the railway staff, and indeed other workers, who put in such long and unsociable hours, particularly at holiday times.

Many thanks to all of my Flickr friends for all of your kind and highly valued support. I always thoroughly enjoy viewing your streams, it’s great to have such wonderful lessons in photography, I’ve learned so much through Flickr.

Thank you for the friendships too, I always greatly appreciate the time people take to comment on my stream, and feel blessed to have such a lovely community of very talented people.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year.

68021 ‘Tireless’ awaits departure from York with 0B70, a driver training trip to Scarborough on 31st December 2018.

I've been uninspired (and crazy busy) for a while, but hope to be back next year with renewed creativity and focus!

Hope you all have a good one!

Home Before Dark

‘Home before dark

Before the light escapes me

To be at your side

That's where the journey takes me’

The sun sets on 1st January 2019 and reflects on the side window of 43208.

43208 made it to York before dark, having arrived at 15:29 with the 13:06 from London King’s Cross.

It would retrace its steps, departing at 16:03 for London, arriving there at 18:27.

From London it would head back out to Lincoln at 19:06, arriving there at 21:01.

From Lincoln, the train would make its final journey of the day at 21:14 and head empty to Leeds Neville Hill depot, arriving at 23:59, quite definitely not before dark!

I’ve always had mixed feelings about the HST, they did finish off the Deltics, something that I can never forgive. That said, I think they saved the Inter-City business during the 1980s and 40 years front line service is quite an achievement.

SCOUT: "Goodness Paddy!

Look at all the pretty ribbons, and listen to the music! What's happening?"

PADDY: "It's New Year's Eve, Scout!"

SCOUT: "New Year's Eve? What's that Paddy?"

PADDY: "It's held a week after Christmas Scout, and it is when we reflect on the passing year and celebrate the new year as it begins."

SCOUT: "Oooh! It looks like fun!"

PADDY: "It is! We can dance and play, laugh and cheer!" *Starts dancing.*

SCOUT: "How wonderful!" *Starts cheering.* "Wheeeeee!"

DADDY: "Australia is one of the first places to celebrate New Year, so Paddington, Scout and I..."

SCOUT: "And my Little Red Riding Hood dolly Daddy!"

PADDY: "And Scout's Little Red Riding Hood doll Daddy!"

DADDY: "And Scout's Little Red Riding Hood doll are getting into the spirit (and champagne) early!"

SCOUT: "Champagne Daddy?" *Looks concerned.* "You said I am too young to drink, and if I am, then dolly certainly is!"

DADDY: "Well Scout, that's true for Little Red Riding Hood, but we can make a special exception tonight for you. You may have a very small glass of very good quality champagne. I put a glass out for you and one for Paddy."

PADDY and SCOUT: "Oh thank you Daddy!

DADDY: "Happy New Year Paddy and Scout!"

PADDY and SCOUT: "Happy New Year Daddy!"

PADDY: "Scout, Daddy, Little Red Riding Hood and I would like to wish all our flickr friends and followers the very best for the New Year. Thank you for your support, encouragement and comments. Thank you also for all your wonderful photographs! May New Year's Eve be a festive one, whatever you choose to do. May 2020 be a happy, prosperous and artistic year for you all. We are sending you lots of New Year's Eve big little bear hugs and snuffly kisses!"

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout is a recent addition to our little family. He was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Thanks for stopping by and viewing this photo. The reason for posting this photo on Flickr is to learn so if you have constructive feedback regarding what I could do better and / or what should I try, drop me a note I would love to hear your input.

SCOUT: "Happy New Year Paddy!"

PADDY: "Happy New Year Scout!"

SCOUT: "Now what Paddy?"

PADDY: "Now I am going to give you a New Year big little bear hug and snuffly kiss, Scout!"

SCOUT: "Oh how lovely Paddy! I feel so special! I will give you one back in return, Paddy!"

PADDY: "Oh thank you Scout. I love you very, very much!"
