The late afternoon sun filtering through the trees bordering the lovely track at Newton, turning the puddles to gold.
We did a longish coastwalk from Newton Ferrers to Mothecombe at the weekend. It looked like it was going to rain when we arrived at Newton Ferrers but the sky cleared to give a warmish winters day with some great views.

We have been making the most of the late summer weather down in the S Hams which has been ideal for reflection shots as the wind has been quite light. This is the view from Noss Mayo across to Newton Ferrers.

National Trust, Newton House, Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo. Lovely to see this splendid old house clad with autumn colour.
The two villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers that look at each other across the River Yealm must be among the most picturesque in Devon

Reniala Private Reserve, Ifaty, Madagascar
Although its behaviour is warbler-like, this is actually part of the Vanga family and the most widely distributed of the 4 Newtonia species, all being endemic to Madagascar.
A recent colour neg acquisition showing 45006 departing from Newton Abbot, the sleeve in which the neg came had written the loco, location and a date, but this must be incorrect as it showed 09/08/87, which 11 months after the loco was withdrawn. Maybe I misread, or it was mis-written on the sleeve (which I've now disposed of) and unfortunately the Rail Gen archive doesn't have an entry for 09/08/82. Still a lovely shot though.

National Trust, Newton House, Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo. This is the first time I have stood in this spot at this time of year when the trees are in leaf. It makes for a very different image!

Iowa Interstate ES44AC 503 brings up the rear DPU of a late running CBBI as it rolls across US Route 6 and heads into Newton, Iowa, which is typically where this train would get its crew. A hotbox issue west of Des Moines added several hours of delay to the usual timing.
