This Bobcat has been hanging out around the backyard, looking for a squirrel lunch, for a couple of months. Getting a little too comfortable around me.
This is a Japanese 500-yen coin that was renewed in November 2021. A bicolor clad with a two-color, three-layer structure. It's first one for me, last week.
I shot the front, back, and diagonals with multiple exposures, so it looks transparent, but of course it's not transparent.
we purchased this beautiful Hellebore at the spring garden show... for now it will staying inside for a week or so... then I'll plant it with the others in the garden.

This is our newest family member that we have had since May, when we lost our oldest bird Lisa (after close to 9 years).
Nemo is a cockatiel and has been a bit shy so haven´t had a picture to post until now.
She´s out more and more, enjoying the company of us, Pino and Sonny, A curious lady filled with energy and such a cute little feather spike on top of her head.
I hope to post some more pics of my birds now and then. Such a shame that I have rarely posted pictures of them but will get better at this.
Have a lovely Sunday,

Finally made it up to the Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range here in Colorado a couple of days ago. What an amazing place. Found this little filly, the newest addition to one of the herds there. She was recorded being born on 3/30 so only a couple of weeks old.

For Rob in Western Australia as promised, Brisbane's newest bridge, the Kangaroo Point bridge. It crosses the Brisbane River from the bottom of Edward Street in the city (near the entrance to the Botanic Gardens) to Kangaroo Point on the other side, not far from the Story Bridge which runs at 90 degree to it as the river makes a big turn downstream to the right.
The Kangaroo Point Bridge has two cafe/restaurants on its city bank (not seen in this shot taken from the Customs House) and has a pedestrian and separated bike lane. It has been a bit of a godsend lately for people who live on the Kangaroo Point side as the pedestrian paths on the Story Bridge have been totally closed since Cyclone Alfred undergoing a safety assessment.

CP 2227 leads a trio of tricked-out passenger cars that make up the newest Canadian Pacific "Tech Train" north along the frozen Mississippi at a railroad location known as Edmore. Edmore is a siding just north of Dubuque, adjacent to the John Deere Dubuque Works that is still the major employer in Dubuque County, but which hasn't used rail service directly at this plant in many years. The curve here at the siding always makes for a fine scene, with the river bluff backdrop and the waters pooled up due to the presence of Lock and Dam No 11 just downstream from here.
As I understand it this new Tech Train set, also known as a track geometry train which is used for detailed track inspections, was built in Kansas City. This move was it's first ferry move north for setup before being pressed into service. Even on a dreary day the bright red certainly popped amidst the snowy countryside.
This is the first bloom of my newest plant, Early royal dwarf iris ‘pixie’. It is just 2.5 inches across and 4 inches high.

To look down from the arch is a bit dizzying. I would guess a 600-700 foot drop!
I could spend a lifetime meandering around this area. Zion, Capitol Reef, Bryce, Arches, Canyon Lands and any number of State Parks and National Monuments within hours of each other. Sometimes minutes!
Now, the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument will probably become our newest National Park.
This is the newest mural in downtown Carleton Place. Various components represent different historical occurrences, but I forget which ... because I am too darn freakin old to remember. :-)

Iowa Northern Railway train BUWA has IANR 4100, 3809, 3802, and 3803 for power on this December Sunday to make the run from Butler Yard near Shell Rock, Iowa to Bryant Yard in Waterloo. The train had 75 cars out of Butler, but have brought the head 15 into the CN Waterloo Yard for interchange. In the background EJE 667, still in orange, is paused in between it's duties as the yard switch engine, and a few other motors are laying around at the engine facility including EJE 658 in CN paint.
The CN is in the process of purchasing the IANR but is still awaiting STB approval, and so this is perhaps a bit of a look into the future. Meanwhile the past is well represented in this view too, as the Illinois Central Roundhouse here in the background has been present in at least in some form, (it's had stalls added and removed over the years) back to as far as 1901 (and possibly longer, it was hard to pin down a good date for the roundhouse construction from just some quick online research).
The Iowa Northern Railway uses the CN Mainline in Waterloo and Cedar Falls for a few miles from Waterloo West to Cedar Falls Junction as part of an arrangement going back to the 1980s and a highway project that saw the consolidation of some lines in Waterloo to make room for US 218. Normally from what I've seen the interchange work is typically done by the IANR in either direction at some siding tracks just west of Waterloo West and so they don't come into the yard like this. But occasionally when traffic warrants the CN will have the IANR come directly into the "A Yard" here at the Waterloo Terminal to make their setout and pickup as seen here. They would tie onto a cut of cars and shove back out of the yard to the rest of their train waiting on the mainline.
I had gone out after this BUWA even though it was likely to be a cloudy day because IANR 4100 on the point is one of the road's newest units (arrived to the IANR in August 2023 per some online notes, though it's originally a C&O unit) and still looks pretty sharp. But it was a nice bonus to get them making this less-common move, and this angle normally would be a heavily backlit-view if the sun were present.
