dear ♥ fairy Godparents,
on a previous post i wrote about this blessèd (& surprising!) event that happened on solstice morning ☼
yet felt i needed to wait to share pictures until july 4th fireworks were over, also the recent high winds..
to be sure everyone was safe * (at least so far ;) for fairy terns make no nest!
also because the new parents are very young ..
was a BIG surprise because.. it will be the second birth this season!
and.. on the very same place on the very same bough where both my beloveds lantern, last spring, and holi this spring (on the holy hindu festival day of holi :) were born *
and
have come to believe, its also where my Spirit bird, whom i first saw 2 summers ago in lulu's tree as a fledgling, must've been born too.. :)
below is the series of images leading up to & following this one ...
father spirit bird asking mama, "what is it?! .. may i see?!"
mama showing him!!
and then the dear moment between them when father realized they have a baby on the way... :*)
i feel So Blessed to have experienced this with them.

This is probably one of my favorite out of the many that I took in Austin. There is something about me and twilight images that seem to come out better then most of my other images. I also have another of this image but from a few away at night so I'll upload that when I complete that one as well.
I'm still working on a pano of the skyline but since this was directly into the sun I'm having problems with contrast and WB, not to mention that I'm working of a 2 yr old 2 gb max ram Sony Vaio laptop :(
I think it's time for an upgrade to a desktop with an AMD Phenom quad or maybe the new Intel I7 with 8gb ram starting out with max 12 gb so I have room to expand in the future. I'll need to start pricing on newegg
10 exposure HDR, merged in Photomatix, corrected in Lightroom, added Nik's Color Efex filters :)

BACKSTORY:
BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:15AM, made it out driving by 8:44AM, and went out until ~12:45PM, for a total of 4 hours. Spent $33.35 plus ~$8.37 gas for 47.1 miles of driving (16.4 mpg @ $2.94/G), for a total cost of $41.72. We drove to 59 yard sales, stopping at 23 (39%) of them. We made 24 purchases (27 items) for a total estimated value of $235.08, leading to a profit/savings of $193.36. So in essence, we multiplied our $41.72 investment by 5.63X. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $~220 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $193 in cash that we saved. How long does $220 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 4 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $48.25/hr as a couple or $24.13/hr per person.

The take. Not a lot of stuff this week, but still good stuff. For instance, the 2 white shelves are stackable/modular shelves that exactly match an existing run of ours, bringing it from halfway-to-ceiling all the way up to the ceiling. What a perfectly delightful coincidence.
This week's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Leonardo.

We drove to 59 yard sales±, stopping at 23 (39%) of them.

One of the few USB webcams that works with Macs right out of the box (it comes with a driver for Mac so I don't need macam). The clip base doesn't open wide enough for Apple Cinema display, so I clipped it to my second monitor--a Samsung. Works with Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Mercury (a MSN client app), Camfrog, iChat (needs a 3rd party software iChatUSBCam), SightSpeed, and Adium (for creating avatars only). $19.99 from Newegg.
FYI, the focusing ring says NOIKKOR, not NIKKOR. Sneaky.

The post How to Stack Coupons appeared first on Bulletproof Coffee Fan Club.
Do you want to save a few bucks when you go shopping? Want to try get items worth hundreds of dollars as freebies? Then you need to start stacking coupons.
Lately, more and more people are getting really interested in gathering up these discounted specials being advertised by companies. Once they have them neatly organised it is time to start redeeming them in the stores across the U.S. to try get a lower price on everything they buy. Why go through all the bother? Well, this way they maximise their savings gained when shopping, whilst the stores get the brand marketing and monetary income benefit from running the promotions. This makes it a win-win situation for the both parties. If you want to join this coupon stacking mania, follow suit. We’ll break down everything there is to know about couponing together!
What is Coupon Stacking?
Coupon stacking is defined as being able to use many coupons in one purchase. This could be when purchasing one item or multiple items at checkout. For example, Kohl’s allow four coupons per order whereas some stores like Michaels allow unlimited stacked coupons. This may include certain dollar amounts off to certain percentages off a transaction.
The term itself suggests the real goal – to merge these money off or percentage off vouchers together and get the best possible price. What you are doing is “stacking” the savings in a cumulative way. So one discount and be added to another discount which means you get a much calculated money off amount at the checkout. However, you cannot do with do this with any and all coupons. There are actually two types you should keep an eye on. They’re the manufacturer’s and the store versions.
When you combine these two types together properly, you will end up saving way more money when shopping than you could have ever hoped for! This is all thanks to the smart and frugal shoppers out there who figured out this money saving technique. Everyone loves a bargain and finding them is a massive incentive for some. Think of it like a game that some people just need to win and beat the system. For example, take British teenager Jordon Cox, he managed to get six hundred pounds worth of food groceries for just four pennies. That is $755 value in food costing only 5c! How did he do that?(1)
Remember how we said there are two types to look out for earlier? Basically, you use a store coupon plus a manufacturer’s when buying a product. Then depending on the terms and discount stated on the coupon, you are able reduce the price of your purchase. In some extreme cases dramatically reduce the price like Jordon did.
For instance, if you’re buying a two-dollar-worth item and you have a store coupon for fifty cents and a manufacturer’s coupon of one dollar, you’ll eventually pay only fifty cents for that item. It’s as simple math as that.
This is why it became popular among shoppers. And the TLC TV shows like Extreme Couponing and Extreme Cheapskates, which revolve around the subject of saving, only increased the interest in stacking coupons.(2)(3)
Types of Savings
Nowadays with the expansion of the internet access on peoples phones and home connections improving online shopping has become the norm for millions of people. Then there is the development of the newer commerce marketing methods like Black Friday and Cyber Monday adverts to entice people to spend money on products that have had prices slashed in flash sales.
You can find awesome deals and dirt cheap bargains everywhere around you, you just need to keep your eyes and ears open for the opportunities. Whether it’s printable coupons or vouchers in the local or national newspapers, online codes you have to type in to get 10 – 90% off, the opportunities are numerous both online and offline.
Big name brick and mortar businesses like Target, Kohl’s, Walgreens, and CVS among many others, allow you to stack physically stack your cut outs and clippings. Whereas, online stores like say Amazon let you just enter a digital code or phrase to redeem online. Saying that, some of the above-mentioned brick and mortar companies have an option for online stacking, too. Frugal mommy bloggers tend to try hunt these down and then promote them to their followers.
Manufacturer Coupons
A big number of the these opportunities that you’ll encounter are actually from the manufacturers marketing campaigns themselves. What does that mean? These types of coupons are issued by the company producing the product that you’re wanting to buy. You can find them advertised in popular magazines, newspapers or on various websites.
Once you print them or crop them out of the paper, you only need to bring them to a participating retailer that accepts them and then try combine this along with a coupon from the store (if it offers one of course).
This way the manufacturer allows you to buy the product from them with the best pricing available. For instance, when you buy Coca-Cola in Target with a manufacturer coupon, you are buying it directly from the Coca-Cola Company with their discount and not from the retailer (or in this case Target).
Store Coupons
The situation is slightly different with this type. Here the discount doesn’t come from the manufacturer (The Coca-Cola Company in the previous example), but from the store in which you actually buy the product (like Target). The logic behind this is that the store renounces a small part of their profit in favour of the promotion they get for the products. Most often they do it to attract more customers.
There are a lot of ways through which the stores get the word out to the customers about the super deals and savings they are offering for a limited time.
Firstly, they normally advertise themselves in magazines and newspapers again advertising the offer to all the readers. They’re normally easily recognisable as they feature the store’s logo and its name, leaving you with the quick job of cutting them.
Aside from this, the online versions of these offers are found on the stores website as well as the store’s email newsletters. You can simply print them at home from these sources and present your printed papers at your net store purchase to earn the discount.
What’s more, you can also stack rewards and deals which the stores use as part of their marketing strategy. By gathering them from the papers and newsletters and combining them, you’ll be able to receive even more discounts.
Store Gift Cards
Coupons aren’t the only ones helping you make big savings. The gift cards from the stores are great for this purpose, too. Especially when you stack them with the coupons.
How does it work? The only thing you do is show the manufacturer and store coupons at the register and then pay for the goods with the gift card. That way you get a way lower price for your products.
Note that you can buy such discounted gift cards online (Gift Card Granny) and save on that, too.
Rebate Apps
Finally, rebate apps represent the modern way of saving money while shopping. And you don’t use any coupons at all to do that! You simply need a smartphone to download these apps on.
After getting the receipt from the store, you’re supposed to take a picture of it through the rebate apps in order to get a part (or a full amount) of the money you’ve spent. So cool, right?
Some of the most popular rebate apps making the headlines are Ibotta, Jingit, Checkout 51, and ReceiptHog.
Online Stores That Allow Coupon Stacking

Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta allow 5 coupons per order.

Target allows one manufacturer & one store per order.
Michaels allows unlimited per order.

This is the "HP Photosmart 120". It is a simple, point-and-shoot digital camera released in the early 2000s as part of Hewlett Packard's line of Photosmart digital cameras. The 120 was released in 2002 and sports a jaw dropping 1 Megapixel resolution!
Specs:
-1 MP CMOS Censor
-1 inch backlit LCD screen
-Compact Flash compatible
-4 MB internal memory can hold up to 10 pictures (in "best" mode)
-Requires 4 AA batteries
While the camera itself is very simple to use, the image quality is not great even for a 1 MP camera. Colours appear dull and picture are overly grainy. The image quality seems to vary depending on the amount of light available. Outdoors, in bright and sunny conditions seem to yeild the sharpest pictures. While pictures taken indoors tend to look dark and pixilated (perhaps this is the result of some sort of automatic exposure feature in which the camera adjusts for indoor conditions? - i.e. - higher ISO and/or shutter speed to compensate for lower light). The built-in flash isn't much help either as it had a tendency to make pictures washed out.
I think this was one of the first digital cameras I ever saw in stores. There was a camera store near me called Blacks, and one time there was a salesman giving a demonstration, boasting about all the advantages of digital photography. The camera cost around $400 (at the time you could buy an entry-level 35mm SLR for the same amount) and I was not impressed with the picture quality. It was not until digital cameras got into the 5-6 MP range that I finally bought one.

BACKSTORY:
BACKSTORY: Got uparound 8:15AM, made it out driving by 8:44AM, and went out until ~12:45PM, for a total of 4 hours.

Ladies and Gents, I give you, the Mik-La-Pita! Inspired by the the Jer-La-Pita I created my own version using a Mikael desk, Lack shelf and angled Capita legs all bought from IKEA :) This desk will sit my new computer that I will be piecing together hopefully by the end of the week if the shipping gods get me all the ordered parts here on time.
Phase one of the "Buy Brandon a new computer" campaign is complete and I have made the purchase of my new 23" 1080P monitor which puts out excellent color reproduction with out a color calibration yet.
Once the new computer arrives I will take some more pictures of the computer and wire tamed desk so check back later on this week :)

Small blend of two exposures to get the screens correct and not blown out as well as get the desired effect around the computers.
I have had not-so-great luck with the Seagate 7200.11 1.5tb drives, (~33% DOA rate) but Newegg has taken good care of me for the most part. So, i'm rolling a lot of them in my home servers.
This is a powered-up (but still not fully moved in) version of this from a few weeks ago.
Down below there are a few other machines providing more storage...namely a Xeon Dell server running WinServer 2008 R2 and an older P4 1.8ghz machine.
Around February and March 2006 I ordered parts from Newegg, assembled a desktop computer, and bought a canon powershot S80 from Beach Camera. The computer replaced a Dell that I bought in November '01. The S80 replaced the Fuji camera that came included in the purchase of the Dell. I swore I'd never buy another Dell computer, but their ghastly customer service forced me in January 2002 to replace their defective hard drive myself, which led me to believe I could someday put together a better rig by myself. Well, anyway this was one of the first photos I made with the S80 and it's just a lucky shot that's been viewed more than 14,000 times because, well, there's a good looking woman and an ipod. Although some commentators said they liked the other one.
The moral of this story:
Don't buy from Dell, and your photography will be more popular with good-looking women and ipods as subjects
the power supply is onboard (give it 12v dc), the memory is laptop ddr3, system disk is an SSD in mSATA format (new). video is onboard, intel gig-e is onboard, 2 serial and 1 parallel is onboard. usb2.0 ports, hdmi, vga all onboard. for me, all that's left is a usb/dac or usb/spdif audio device.
this is a very nice wire-free install! no wires even to the SSD. this ssd is 4gb and is $25 from newegg (using a sandisk flash module). cpu is a dualcore atom CederTrail family. n2800 chipset.
motherboard was $95 at central computers. ram was $30 at microcenter (4gb in 2 2gb sticks). case was $40 from amazon (e350 mini-itx case). again, no psu needed other than a 12v dc brick that terminates in the usual dc barrel plug ($10 at amazon).
running linux (voyage embedded linux) and mpd for audio service. audio-out device is a 'USB audio widget' from diyaudio.com (usb to spdif converter using UAC2 audio at max of 24/192k).

I was looking for something in my old office tonight and I stumbled upon the old Ass Pennies drawer. I swear, that office is like the place where time stood still.
I got a laugh out of seeing this and decided to snap a picture for memory's sake. I really would like to explain, but honestly, I don't think it's going to do any good...
Actually, I just found the UCB clip:
www.idleriot.com/media/videos/Funny/481/Ass_Pennies.html
"YOU HANDLE MY ASS PENNIES EVERY DAY! ALL OF YOU! YOU'VE ALL HANDLED MY ASS PENNIES!"
Part of a birthday gift from.... a Friend. Little bit of a hit-n-miss at first but finally got all the parts needed for newest computer upgrade.
These Newegg purchased parts (~$40 including.... 68 CENT shipping charge) are:
* Rosewill 36" SATA III UV Blue Flat Cable w/ Locking Latch (RCAB-11040, 1.5 to 6 Gbps, the two pretty blue still rolled cables toward the back)
* StarTech 12" LP4 to 2 SATA Internal Power Splitter Cable (PYO2LP4SATA, the multi-colored cable)
* ASUS 24X DVD Burner (DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS, called OEM with translation being you have to buy everything else separate)
* Rosewill 56Kbps Conexant Hardware Based Modem (RNX-56USB, V.92 Data/Fax/TAM, little black thing on top of DVD burner, SINGLE port)
Bought OEM parts in the past but somehow missed I needed to purchase cables and screws if I didn't already have them this time. Screws I had. Went ahead and bought the SATA power splitter cable since it was about the same cost as others. Figure sooner or later I'll end up needed it anyway. All parts would looked at with both backward and forward compatibility in mind, well, besides being among the first items showing in Newegg's low to high price availability feature for each component category. *grin*.
The Rosewill dialup modem (small black item in center on top of DVD burner) actually sped things up nearly times two of all things. Was previously having to rebuild the software for my VERY OLD internal Slamr based modem AND then it only connected max at 32800 bps (bits per second). This new external modem maxxes consistently at the 57600 bps rating. Feels like it, too, as websites are loading notably faster.
Parts are all running on Knoppix Linux 7.0.2 right now. In fact is first time I've been able to run the Knoppix 7.0.2 LiveDVD full throttle. Maybe only 10th time it's ever been fired up. Things slow down some but a quick memory upgrade as the next goal SHOULD help there. To get the modem up and running, I plugged it into the back then ran "sudo wvdial". Plugged results of /etc/wvdial.conf into kppp's configure settings and blew my mind... when it actually freaking worked! That doesn't happen often on the first go with this computer. :))
Life Lesson Learned the Hard Way was it took two purchases because I didn't realize the cables weren't included with the DVD burner. If you go buying cables, KNOW your machine and look for parts that tell you how many pins each end contains.. ALSO the external modem only has one port. Got lucky there as I had previously bought a two-way phone cable splitter.. That's plugged into the main line then phone and modem cables are plugged separately into it.
Thank you shoutout to My dot Buddy. for making this possible. :)
Homebuilt barebones MSI Wind desktop system (not the laptop, with the unfortunately identical name). This system has been running fine with Ubuntu for a over a year now. Fast enough to show video fine (some problems with some full screen web video in FireFox). Surprisingly heavy, wicked quiet!
Step 1. - Gather components
1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU MSI Wind PC Intel 945GC
Kingston 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533
500GB WD5000AACS SATA HDD
DVD-R/W Lite-On iHAS120-04
RF Wireless compact keyboard (with joystick mouse) BTC 9116URF
$300 + $40 shipping/tax (10 Oct 2008)
I used NewEgg, but there are other vendors supplying the components as well. I try to get high quality hard disks, but don't really worry about the RAM or optical drive much (both are quite cheap). On-board graphics chip (945GC).
Step 2. - Remove top cover
Step 3. - Remove front panel and drive assembly
Step 4. - Install RAM
Step 5. - Bolt drives into drive assembly
Step 6. - Snap drive assembly back in

This case is awesome! Harddrive installation is SO EASY! The harddrive cage is removed from the front of the case, and so there's no need to unplug the power supply from the motherboard, and to remove the RAM and maneuver the harddrives through cables and cards (that was an issue with Magic.)
And look how big that fan on the top is!

BACKSTORY: Carolyn decided now that Clint had a job, the time had come to replace her computer of 9 years, Magic. So, she started spec'ing out computer parts for a new computer that would become Goliath.
Carolyn built Magic in 2003 when Clint got her a motherboard for Christmas. She kept her old computer, Mist, which as far as we know, is still alive to this day (and was originally a 286, then a 486, then a Pentium 3). Anyway, Magic had tried to die a couple of years ago, but since Clint didn't have a job at the time, we decided it was best to repair rather than buying a whole new computer back then. So Carolyn found an exact replica of Magic's motherboard on Ebay and replaced the motherboard and the power supply. Magic has been limping along ever since.
But now it is time for Goliath. Goliath came into being at the beginning of November and was up and running by November 13th.
SPECS:
CASE: Antec Twelve Hundred V3 Black Steel ATX Full Tower Unbeatable Gaming Case ($160) (**10** frickin' drive bays!).
CPU: Intel Core i7 (i7-3770) Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Quad-Core (LGA1155 socket, 4 cores, 8MB cache, 77W power consumption) ($300). CPUBenchmark score: 9480. For comparison, Clint's computer Hades that everyone watches movies on only rates 4163 (and 1727 before upgrade).
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair Enthusiast Series CMPSU-850TX (850W) ($140) (5yr warranty)
MOTHERBOARD: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 ($180). 8 SATA ports! Onboard optical digital audio out so her computer is backup for playing music. Onboard video better than my pre-upgrade videocard (Radeon x1950) that Clint tried to give her, so her computer is backup for playing video. (However, the onboard video can only mine at 100MH/s, so it is useless for cryptocurrency mining.) Onboard network.
RAM: 16GB: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series (2x8GB, 240-Pin) ($86) (CAS 9-9-9-9)
HARDDRIVE: SSD: 128G: Crucial M4 ($103) (3yr warranty). Plus all the drives that used to be in MAGIC, before MAGIC crashed.
TOTAL COST: $969.
Ultimately it ended up with a coupld of SATA controller cards, as well as a bluray-burner. We've now burned over 200 blurays.
In other news, Clint decided to get a CPU for Magic for Carolyn's birthday, and she ended up killing Magic trying to install it. It was a mistake to try to mess with the delicate balance that was Magic. Magic died 2 days before its 10-year anniversary. Poor Magic! But it was a good thing Carolyn had already gotten a new computer before Magic decided to kick the bucket.
A run-down of all parts in my new computer, with links to buy them, can be found here: carolyncasl.wordpress.com/2012/10/24/the-new-computer/
CPU cooler installed on top of CPU, with thermal paste correctly applied, and fan hooked up to motherboard. Possibly the hardest amd most physically stressful step of the whole thing. There seems to be very little standardization on how you attach these things to the CPU socket, and the attachments themselves are always super-difficult to work, because they are designed to not damage the socket. Plastic screws that you can barely tell which way to turn, and only turn 90 degrees when inserted a specific way. Crap like that. And you can barely see what you are doing, due to the fan being larger than the socket it is attaching to. It's super-painful.
My CPU is cutting edge: Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz LGA2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor: $381.54 from SuperBiiz.com ... Yes, 6 cores cost 50% more than 4 cores, and yes, it's totally worth it. Other features/specs include: 12-way multitask processing / Intel turbo Boost Technology 2.0 / Intel Hyper-Threading / Intel Smart Cache / support s 4-channel DDR4 memory / Core Name: Haswell E / Max Turbo Frequency: 3.6GHz / Intel Smart Cache: 15MB / Intel QPI Speed: 0GT/s / Lithography: 22nm / Max Thermal Design Power: 140W / Max Memory Bandwidth: 68GB/s / Max CPU Configuration: 1 / Advanced Technologies: Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x), Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d), Intel VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT), Intel 64 Architecture, Idle States, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, Thermal Monitoring Technologies, Intel Identity Protection Technology, Intel Smart Re sponse Technology, AES New Instructions, Execute Disable Bit
CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer I30 CPU Cooler: $34.98 from SuperBiiz.com ... After having to upgrade CPU coolers TWICE IN A MONTH with my old computer Hades, due to cat hairs, I knew not to bother skimping out this time. I want straight for the more expensive, more large, $40 aftermarket cooler. Unfortunately, it was so large it blocked a RAM slot, and due to the way RAM works in this motherboard, that means not being able to use 2 RAM slots. But my motherboard has 8 RAM slots. I just wish I hadn't bought 4G SIMMS, because 6 * 4G = 24G, and being maxed out at 24G RAM kinda sucks when I regularly break 30G of actual-memory-used. If I could have used those 2 extra slots, I'd be up to 32G of RAM. If I had bought 8G SIMMS, I could have gotten 24G of RAM, and then upgraded up to 48G. But I'm stuck with 24G, and not wanting to spend $300 just to get to 32G (by virtue of having to re-buy all-8G SIMMS). ANYWAY, this cooler has other features/specs: Mfr Part Number: FREEZER I30 / 4 Mounting Directions / Application: Intel / Material: Aluminum finsx48, thickness 0.5mm / Heatpipe: Direct-Touch 8mmx4 (double-sided) / Fan Speed: ARCTIC F12 PWM; 120 mm, 400 - 1,350 RPM (PWM controlled) / Air Flow: 74 CFM / 125.7 m3/h / Bearings: Fluid Dynamic Bearing / Noise Level: 0.3 Sone (@ 1,350 RPM) / Maximum Cooling Capacity: 320 Watts / Current/Voltage: 0.22A / 3.5 - 12V / Dimensions: 139x100x161mm / Weight: 0.9kg / Compatibility List: LGA 2011: i7 Extreme=i7-3980X,i7-3960X; i7=i7-3930K,i7-3820; LGA 1155: i7=i7-2700K,i7-2600S,i7-2600K,i7-2600; i5=i5-2500T,i5-2500S,i5-2500K,i5-2500,i5-2405S,i5-2400S,i5-2400,i5-2390T,i5-2320,i5-2310,i5-2300; i3=i3-3240T,i3-3240,i3-3225,i3-3220T,i3-3220,i3-2120,i3-2105,i3-2100T,i3-2100; Pentium=G860,G850,G840; LGA 1156: i7=i7-880,i7-875K,i7-870S,i7-870,i7-860S,i7-860,i5=i5-760,i5-750S,i5-750,i5-680,i5-670,i5-661,i5-660,i5-655K,i5-650,i5-540,i5-530,i3=i3-560,i3-550,i3-540,i3-530,Pentium=G6960,G6950; LGA 1150 / 6 year warranty

BACKSTORY: Building my new computer! We decided to name it Thailog. Thailog ("Goliath" spelled backwards) is the evil twin of Goliath from the cartoon Gargoyles. Carolyn's computer is named after Goliath, so it just makes sense that Clint's computer is the evil twin of Carolyn's computer. A quick summary of the computer's specs is: Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz with an Arctic Freezer I30 cooler on a ASRock X99 WS EATX motherboard with 24G of Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400mHz RAM, a Radeon R9 270 video card, and a Crucial M500 240GB M.2 SSD...all inside a massive NZXT Phantom 820 case. It was a $1560 build, summarized on my blog at clintjcl.wordpress.com/2015/03/06/journal-hardware-purcha...

Sooo.... We thought about it, and thought about it more, and modern life is just more complicated. I use my television as my primary monitor, but sometimes I want a video or something in the background. But I don't want to sacrifice the space.
A family member helped convince me that it's not totally crazy, as her husband purchased a secondary screen for the same reason (except for watching baseball).
After thinking about it, we decided to take a plunge. After vulturing, we found this el-cheapo Seiki SE40FY27 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV. The screen dimensons are 33"x19", which is 627 square inches -- 4.35 feet -- of screen.
It was $250 & for once we actually purchased an extended warranty: A $30 bet that this thing won't last 4 years (valid until 20181203).
The mount is a "Mount-It! Heavy Duty Full Motion Single Arm Mount", Model#MI-319B . It's maximum load is a whopping 175 lbs. It is suitable for 32-60 inch TVs. The wall plate dimensions are: 480mm width by 238mm height. The product weight is 12.4kg. The Range of Motion includes 180-degree swivel with a 15-degree up/down tilt. Depending on swivel, it extends from the wall anywhere from 4.9" to 26.5". It has a 5 Years warranty on parts & was ordered from NewEgg for $61.99 on 20141128. It uses M8x90 Lag Bolts to attach to studs. Do I sound autistic yet?
Anyway... It kicks so much ass that we very quickly decied to make things even more complicated by adding even more screens. Those pictures will gradually trickle out in the future...
