Broad View Farm, Stearns Bros., props. Pure milk from our accredited herd. Telephone: 68-M. Rochester, N.H. Make sure your milk is a grade higher. Order it from Broad View Farm. January 1927. A splendid New Year's resolution--"I will return my empty milk bottles daily."
So yah I plan on losing at least 20 lbs by my birthday and then continue to keep working on a more healthy me for this year. Seeing as I now am always going out and about on hikes to take pictures I don't think this will be such a hard task! :D
(Notice how the scale is showing 20 lbs) Oh and maybe to one day hit front page flickr, but I got a ways to go! Hee hee
January 9: One of my New Year's resolutions was to meditate daily. I've been saying I wanted to sit for, well, approximately ever, but somehow it's always been "too hard." Dunno what that was about, because ever since January 1 I've actually looked forward to my 25 minutes (that's what I'm up to) sitting in the dark with candles and incense, just trying to clear the clutter out of my mind. I'd like to get to where I'm sitting first thing in the morning, but so far I don't seem to be able to do it except once it gets dark.... Whatever works, though, sez I.
Happy New Year 2016!
As we ring in the new year and reflect upon the world affairs of the past 12 months, many of us feel a sense of terror and uncertainty. The world is going through its worst phase in history; humanity is suffering and the future seems bleak.
Messiah Foundation International's message to every human being on Earth is to not lose hope. There is always darkness before dawn. We give glad-tidings of Lord Ra Riaz and Lord Jesus Christ: the Riazian Sun is about to rise and peace is to be established. The future is bright thanks to Lord Ra Riaz and Lord Jesus Christ!
In 2019, the world will have three spacecraft capable of taking crew to the International Space Station.

Here we go again! Time for my third round of a 365 project. This is my first 365 project that has started on the first of a year (first one started on a random day in December, second started on my birthday.) This is also my first that will not be exclusively self-portraits.
It was hard to decide what to do as my first photo; I kept the homage to my 2012 new year's 365 photo, but added in the robot tea strainer.
Last year was a very tough year, I'm sure 2014 will be better. It already started out great: I woke up in a cabin with friends, and then biked through the woods back to Portland.

The Imperfection of the vitruvian woman
Leonardo da Vinci's pen and ink drawing of The Vitruvian Man displayed perfect proportion...mine, not so much! Which fits well with my New Year's Resolution to accept my imperfections but not let them stop me from doing what I want or need to do.
FGR New Year's Resolution and day 67/365
or better - one of them...
- no more new fabric
- finish projects first
Actually I wanted to do a "places where I go"-shot, because I went to "Textil-Müller", which is utter hell for fabric-manicas, but it was totally overcrowded, I felt cold and the call of nature so I turned on my heels (first I put some stuff back where I had taken it....) and drove home empty handed (literarily).
BUT - what a great sujet for my new-years-resolution - sort through my stuff, and make something out of it....
did I mention that I like my new Camera ...? ;-)
I try to read a book or two every month... this isn't bad, but there is so much great stuff out there that I feel I am missing out on. For 2010, I am setting a goal to read an entire book every week - no excuses. If you haven't yet read these three Malcolm Gladwell books - I highly recommend them.
Taken for the group, Macro Mondays. This weeks theme, as you may have already guessed, is "New Year's resolutions"
For a small competition among enthusiasts, I created this image for the theme 'New Years resolutions'.

No Lindsay! Don't do it!
...(just so you know, I didn't. Tryin' to be better this year)...
Speaking of which - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
FGR: "New Years Resolution"
Just one of many of my New Year's Resolutions is to stay in better touch with my friends! It has always been a challenge for me to do this simple task, but with a renewed spirit and focus I know I will put forth better effort in 2009!
My girlfriend received a beautiful shiny water boiler this Christmas and I just loved the crazy reflections that forms on its surface. It really captures a wide field of view...Enough to see stuff coming from almost anywhere...and by stuff, I mean a girlfriend with a knife, ready to kill!
Don't worry, this was completely staged (or so I hope!) and no one has made the resolution to get rid of me in 2009 (that I know of).
Since my last shot is going to be in one week, I'm going to wish a happy new year to everyone. And stay away from sharp knives people. ;)
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup Fisher® Chef's Naturals® Walnut Halves and Pieces
1 can (13.8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated classic pizza crust
2/3 cup basil pesto
1 box (9 oz) Green Giant® frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes in oil, patted dry, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/2 cup well-drained artichoke hearts (from 14-oz can), coarsely chopped
1 cup crumbled feta cheese (4 oz)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spread walnuts in ungreased shallow pan. Bake 3 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown. Set aside.
2. Lightly spray large cookie sheet or 15x10x1-inch pan with CRISCO® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Unroll pizza crust dough on cookie sheet; press dough to 15x10-inch rectangle. Bake 8 to 12 minutes or edges are light golden brown.
3. Spread pesto over partially baked crust. Top evenly with spinach, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, feta cheese and mozzarella cheese.
4. Bake 8 to 15 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Sprinkle with walnuts. Cut into 24 squares. Serve warm.
"Peace of mind produces right values, right values produce right
thoughts. Right thoughts produce right actions and right actions
produce work which will be a material reflection for others to see of
the serenity at the center of it all"
~Robert M. Pirsig - Zen and The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance~
Lately, things have been falling apart everywhere. Our economy has crumbled, jobs have been lost, homes have been foreclosed, relationships consumed by frustration...
We could all use Peace of mind. We could all use right thoughts and right actions. But as the quote above says, to do so we must somewhere in the middle find right values. And we must find them for the right reason as well...
To go along with my shot and description yesterday, this is my only step towards making a resolution, to do everything possible to pick up the fallen pieces and find peace of mind, so that I can have peace in all other aspects of my life.
For my group, Theme of The Week - Book Interpretations.
For FGR - New Years Resolutions.
For The Rogue Players - Falling Apart.
to take my shoes off the shelf. I am determined to improve my health AND be fit enough to do a caving excursion in Belize this June! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!
Resolution - noun: a resolve or determination
I don't normally make New Years resolutions, but I thought it might be a good idea this year.
Happy New Year to all of my friends and contacts on Flickr. I hope you all have an amazing, creative, productive, healthy and happy 2008!!
I really was trying to draw up my New Year's Resolution list when my arm fell off. Really!
It's better than "the dog ate it" at least. And here's the proof.
As for real resolution I've decided to skip the sweeping ones. I'm not going to stop eating junk food. Maybe I'll just try to eat a little less of it. I'm never going to have a Mr Universe body, but maybe I can try to look a little less like the Michelin Man. Here's one. I resolve to lower my cholesterol. (I've got medication to do the hard work for me there)
In all seriousness, I'm just going to try to be myself, only maybe a little better. A better dad to my kids. A better husband to my wife. A better son to my parents. A better friend to all of you. I'll probably need some help from you guys on some of these, but I'll happily help you with yours as well. (see the friends part of my resolution)
I also resolve to try to put a little more effort into my 365 project. I haven't missed a day in 215 days, but lately a lot of my pics have been pretty bad, even by my lazy assed standards. A friend of mine mentioned yesterday that I must be almost done because my pictures were beginning to really decline. He also pointed out that I really should try to smile sometimes. Just the kick in the ass I need. Photo criticism from non Flickr friends. The ultimate embarassment. It's kind of like having your kids tell you that you don't drive very well. And they're right.
So because of my buddy Tom, you will hopefully be seeing some more thought out, better pictures of me. And maybe I'll smile once in a while. (That should make Gooner happy too. He also believes I don't know how to smile)

Plunge for a Cause!
Coney Island is a neighborhood of 50,000 residents with a poverty rate close to 30% and is situated right on the Atlantic Ocean. The Coney Island Polar Bear Club New Year’s Day Plunge helps raise funds to support the local organizations including the New York Aquarium, Alliance for Coney Island, Coney Island USA, Coney Island History Project and other local arts and history organizations helping to make a difference in the Coney Island community.
Nine years after the devastation of Superstorm Sandy and throughout the 2019 Pandemic, the Coney Island neighborhood continues to recover.
