This cat knows what she's doing! She's a natural! Hopefully, this year, we can all have many safe adventures like traveling, eating indoors, seeing movies with friends, and enjoying music concerts again after a vaccine is made widely available. My New Year's resolution is to survive until then!

to keep working on not scratching people and not biting anyone. I'm now just 8 months old and doing so well Mom has put away the Band-aid box. Now when someone gets scratched it's a pure accident, like last night when Benni got up and stretched and I had to go leaping off the bed. Who knew Mom's leg would be in the way??"

This was a day of many firsts - first day of the New Year, first day of a new decade, first footsteps in fresh snow on trail, first sunset, first time at the beach....you get the idea. I think we should treat each day this way. Perhaps I'll make that my New Year's resolution.
This was our last stop before the long drive home and what began as a quick mediocre sunset evolved a few minutes later into what you see here. This beach access point was actually cordoned off because of high water levels and erosion - I used the barrier to hold my camera steady. Ironically, the local government bulldozed a segment of the beach flat to accommodate tourism - affecting an endangered Piping Plover habitat in the process, and incurring a fine from the Ministry of Natural Resources. High water levels and windy weather have since eroded the beach to the point that this part, at least, is no longer accessible.

Happy New Year to you all!
2023 was not a great year for me and I am sad to report that it has been 8 months since I even picked up my camera. It hardly ever left my side before, like an extension of my own eyes, but PTSD swallowed me whole and I had lost all inspiration.
My New Year's Resolution, to myself, is to make friends with my camera once again. I don't know what direction that will take other than I want to get to know her again and put her to use doing what Canon intended.
Your support through such a difficult year has been a real lifeline and I do not say so lightly. Thank you all so very much, from the depths of my heart, and I hope that I can eventually repay you all with new work to share.
My warmest wishes to you for 2024 my Flickr friends. The world has gone completely crazy and looks set to continue on that path but know that I will be there with you. Sharing my photography and, more importantly, enjoying the work and words that you share and letting you know that I am thrilled to be on that journey with you.
Take care everyone.
.... that I will not break..... to love you all just the way you are (except you know who)!
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, bright, and properous New Year!

As always, I resolve to eat more healthily :)
1. I will not eat the fishies.
2. I will not claw oldbones if she doesn't jump to it when I command.
3. I will eat all food given to me.
4. I will not make oldbones stand outside in the freezing cold to protect me from the evil K so I can play with the birds, squirrels, and any other creatures that wonders into the garden.
5. I'm only 8 lbs. and don't need to go on a diet like some humans I know.
6. I will not make nasty comments about oldbones.
7. I will try to get along with the turkey thief. Nah... delete that one.
8. I will let oldbones hug me for at least 3 minutes before struggling to get away.
9. I do not have to keep resolutions 1 thru 8. Oldbones loves me just the way I am.
10. I will enjoy, enjoy, enjoy 2009!

When art, or SL, imitates life. Oh well, there’s always next year, right.
Big thanks to Amanda from Dench Designs, that treadmill is really getting good use.
At We're Here! everyone is making New Years Resolutions.
I am going to get more exercise in 2018 than I managed this past year. For me, the most effective way to do that is to pick some interesting places to take my camera and walk. I always find something I didn’t expect and spend more time than I had planned – which means more of those healthful steps. I got started tonight at the Benicia pier.
Happy New Year!
Another year, another chance. There are so many things I want to change it's hard to settle on one resolution. I know I don't want to be where I am right now at this time next year. In any sense of the word. Sometimes I feel like I am always running around in circles and I'm never getting anywhere. But I guess that's always been my way of learning- the hard way. Eventually, I do come out the other side.
I'm starting a 365 project- but not just for photos. The requirement is that I do SOMETHING creative everyday, whether it be taking a photo or coloring in a coloring book. It really doesn't matter, so long as I keep the wheels spinning. This marks my second day. How will I ever get through it?
Taking a walk at Wild Goose Beach, a new year's resolution to get out and walk more. Thank goodness the weather has been good, so far.

Eva: Dave, I really don't understand why I need to stand on this scale.
Dave: It's quite simple. It's New Years and a common resolution to make is to lose some weight.
Eva: I don't think that one applies to me. I'm perfect.
Dave: Really? You don't think that you put on a bit of weight last year?
Eva: I did indeed. But, it was all part of the plan. Part of my fitness goals.
Dave: Really? Very few would consider gaining weight as a good fitness goal.
Eva: Well, very few are as brilliant as me. See, I put on a little extra around the middle then you guys take me for more walks. Since we've been doing longer walks all of the weight is gone. So, more weight equals more walks and more fitness. A perfect plan!
Dave: Then why will you only stand on the scale with two paws.
Eva: You humans only do it with two feet. I'm just following the instructions.
Dave: Really?
Eva: That and I don't want to give you an accurate baseline weight. If you had an accurate baseline weight the need for long walks might disappear.
----------
Eva did put on a few pounds last year, but since longer more frequent walks have been initiated she's looking great.
Eva really is glad to be back in the 52 weeks spotlight. She was hesitant to get on the scale at first, but some motivational Cheerios really did help. Which may have been all part of her plan too.
I will make only one resolution and try to stick with it, but this Cooper's Hawk might be more successful than myself. Wishing you all a fantastic year 2018, filled with everything you desire including the best photographic moments and capture.

A little reminder to myself that this year is what I make it.
A message that all Togs are very familiar with. This moment was captured at the top of Rivington Pike.
Amen to that.
So here is the project:
52 weeks in a year: 52 of my favourite quotes.
My rules.
Hurrahhh!
One of my resolutions for the year is to become better at using my Nikon 105mm macro lens. I love macro photos, and this lens is capable of beautiful work, but so far my results with it are fairly unpredictable. I've decided that the best way to work on my resolution is to just keep this lens on my camera all the time for a while. I figure that the more I use it, the more I'll get to know what it will do.
The DOF is very shallow on this lens for close range pictures. In this picture, for example, I was surprised that even the entire, relatively flat face of this pansy isn't in clear focus. I like the effect, but I'm hoping that as I work with this lens I will be able to produce intentional, as opposed to accidental, shots!

Resolution 1 - To eat fruit.
Here's the deal.. I don't eat fruit. At all. So my first New Year's resolution would be to start eating fruit.. Strawberry ice cream counts as fruit, right? :)
This addition to a crossing signal control made me smile. I hope 2024 is good to everyone, everywhere. The world at large needs a reset, and for any of us that need a reset in a big or small way, here's an arbitrary chance to have a go at it. Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends. May 2024 bring good things to you and yours.
365 {Day One}
Happy New Year!
I've decided to pull out the remote and begin this journey in 2010 with many other Flickroos. A self portrait every day for 365 days...hmmm...well the way I feel right now, forcing myself to pick up the camera each day could only improve my photography. So here, on day one, I suck it up (not in) and show my insecurity. Sure, I'd love to be starting this project out a wee bit more svelte and not sporting all this baby chub. That's why weight loss is at the top of my resolutions for the big one-oh (how original, I know).
Please don't view this large size. Seriously. Stretch marks don't get any prettier up close :)
Resolution Cake - Pear Caramel Cake of Christophe Felder
It was a very bad year with regards to photography, and especially with regards to food in my life.
So as a kind of New Years resolution - well knowing they never work - I made my favorite cake.
Because, everything is getting better, no?
Yes, there are no props in the picture, but at least its not snapped with a mobile..... BIG improvement.
So, I solemnly plan to be more active on Flickr (and in my kitchen) this year.
Anyhow, back to the cake.
A fluffy dream of pure and delicious calories ;-) taking (me...) at the least six hours to make...
A chocolate sponge. Ok, two of those.
Vanilla syrup.
Caramelized vanilla infused pears.
Caramel sauce.
Caramel mousse.
In short, the very best cake out there.
Actually, normally, it is also covered in caramel crisps - but, alas, time is a limited commodity. Well, a good reason to make it again. Some day ;-)
Well the last one of the year had to be a waterfall, obviously.
I'm not one for New Years Resolutions, I've never really revelled in failure.
Should you be the one committing to make life-affirming changes, then good luck and here's a track for you.
Another new year has just begun. Another new year full of new challenges, new worlds to explore, and more rebels to defeat. But Stormtrooper Bruce and the guys haven’t quite worked out their New Year’s Resolutions.
STB: So, did either of you make any resolutions this year?
TK-432: Yes, and I've already broken most of them. No more swearing. And if I do - put a credit in a swear jar for every infraction. So by the end of the year I’ll be rich.
STB: Let me guess. You’re already swearing. Not putting credits in your swear jar - because you never even bothered to make one.
TK-1110: I made some resolutions. Find those stinking droids. Track down the Millennium Falcon. Build a sand castle on Tatooine, and an igloo condo on Hoth. Become omnipotent like Q. And finally, build another ...
STB: Wait, you're joking, right? Those are your resolutions?!?
TK-1110: Busted. Those are the P's. At least I'm guessing those are the kind of things he hopes to do.
TK-432: Dang, I was really looking forward to that igloo condo.
STB: Well, as for me, I resolve to stop with all the pranks, plotting and scheming when it comes to Fett, and not enter any more of the P’s contests. Oh, and eat more veggies!
TK-1110: Great galaxy! We must be in a parallel universe because you sound so serious I almost believe you!
STB: What. I’m serious as a Sith!
TK-1110: OK, this must be where we all get struck by lightening. But actually, I resolved years ago to not make resolutions because I always break them anyway.
TK-432: That’s a shame because I was really, really looking forward to that igloo condo!
STB: And I was hoping you both were looking forward to some homemade lasagna.

You'd think it'd be easy. All I have to do is not put certain foods in my mouth. And yet, losing weight and eating more healthfully is an annual New Year's resolution for me. So, this year, I'm taking drastic steps. Reminders are posted! Barricades are in place!

One of my new year's resolutions is to start a blog. I never start on January 1st. Yesterday, I began. Have look, and please if you have any ideas, comments and/or suggestions - please tell me. Only one post so far, but it is a start. If anyone uses wordpress - can they give me some tips/tricks, please?
