This Yellow Warbler forgot that it's December! This is the first time I've ever seen this species in December in Metro Vancouver.
I find these birds very difficult to photograph. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time today!
I was so thrilled to see this Prairie Warbler in Vernon. They are such stunning little warblers. This one is an immature male.
I went for a walk with my dad tonight in a local wetland and had a nice encounter with this adult male Yellow-rumped Warbler of the Myrtle subspecies. I say nice encounter because it sat still :).
Thought I would take a quick break from posting my Thai photos for a minute. I have never found Townsend's Warblers easy to photograph but got lucky recently in Washington State. They really are such beautiful birds!
Merry Christmas everyone!
The Yellow Throated Warbler is small migratory songbird species in temperate North America. It has more extensive resident population in the Southern United States than most other Warblers. This is one of my back yard birds, they only come in the Fall/Winter to my Bird Feeder.

This male was singing like crazy right in front of me such a beautiful male that I rarely get the chance to see in BC since they breed in the northern parts of our province.
Blackpoll Warblers hold the record for the longest overwater flight for a songbird. Using a tiny light level geolocator biologists have proven that Blackpoll Warblers fly an average of 2540 km (1800 miles) non-stop over an average of 62 hours, up to 3 days, corresponding to about 41 km/h. They fly ovver the Atlantic Ocean to reach their wintering grounds in Puerto Rico, the Lesser Antilles, and South America.
The birds in Alaska fly the farthest of any of the Blackpoll Warblers to reach their breeding grounds and actually have developed longer wings to help them get to their wintering grounds faster.

It has been a good summer in Vancouver for Eastern Warblers, a Chestnut-sided, Ovenbird, Tennessee and now a Black-and-white! This bird was first found by Jacky Ip on July 5th and I was happy to relocate it early this morning.
