...my friends Helen, Debbie and Marie I finally dusted off the LensBaby to give a go at a bouquet of grocery store flowers. To be honest, I think I should have cropped the top a bit - but I'm not going to fuss about such a thing today, maybe tomorrow LOL

This is a lifer. I caught these in open water in Haro Strait off Victoria, BC. while cruising with good friends from San Juan island WA. They very skilfully manoeuvred their 35 foot boat to get close with the best lighting possible.

This is another lifer from my recent west coast trip.
Named for the vertical white plate at the base of its bill, the Rhinoceros Auklet is a bird of the coastlines and open seas of the north Pacific. The only member of its genus, it is closely related to puffins. (Cornell Lab of Ornithology)
I caught this one in open water in Haro Strait off Victoria, BC. while cruising with good friends from San Juan island WA. They very skilfully manoeuvred their 35 foot boat to get close with the best lighting possible. This individual is a nonbreeding adult. The breeding adults have a white line that starts behind the eye and follows the curve of the head to the nape and another white line from the gape of the bill to the base of the throat.

On my way from Manhattan to Lansdale, Pennsylvania with my mother & aunt to volunteer for Obama. I know that everyone is sick of the coverage on and resources poured into both campaigns, but it's almost over. Three days left. I helped start up and run the Obama campaign in Lancaster, PA for the primary and spent 60+ hours a week working for over a month. Everything falls on grassroots efforts and face-to-face interaction with voters, decided or undecided. This weekend we will be getting out the vote, that is, going door to door to make sure people know their respective polling location and rights as a voter. The rest is up to them. We won Lancaster county in the primary because of our extraordinary volunteers on the ground and the support & motivation of the residents. This is the final push; we have done all that we can. It all comes down to what people want for themselves, the country and the world. And I have hope.
