Cyanotype on watercolor paper: photogram + contact print. 6.25" x 8"
this is a new technique that I discovered, which involves pairing 3D objects with negatives for contact printing.
The results of my first experience with light painting and the one benefit of winter coming, darker nights.
This is something that I have wanted to try for a while and tried it out with the PhotoSoc. I hope you enjoy

- This is a Light Painting by Candlelight -
I handheld a candle in total darkness to paint these amazing huge callas with the light of its flame.
I conceived this technique as a new discipline in the LP, inspired at the Masters of Antiquity because I don't like to use electric nor electronic lighting. In this shot, I started panting from the bottom line, high-lighting the stems up to the flowers during a long exposure. Here, most of the efforts have been profused in doing my best to equally distribute the candle light, avoiding my own hands, arms and camera shadows, yet obtaining the wished Chiaroscuro with maximal attention to not 'burn' with excessive close light every flower, obtaining a fairly good light absorption.
The stems lead upwards until the corollas (or chalices) to celebrate their beauty & bountifulness.
Every calla looks to me like a ballerina wrapped in veils but each one has a different shape, hence the title.

This is a monochrome rendering of my photo originally taken in colours.
I believe the B&W helps appreciating the leading lines of the lighted stems as well as the silhouettes of the Callas.
Camera in manual mode - Shot in darkness by painting each one of the flowers with the light of an handheld candle.

⚠️WARNING: As a pioneer of this technique, I need to add a warning: don't do it at home if you're not an expert
(so far, I know nope either than myself who does). High risk of fire !!🔥 Seriously !! Prefer to use well sheltered lanterns
with protected flames and leave them still on a stable surface without ever touching them !!

'Non gioco più'
- Peinture de Lumière - peint et éclairée par la lumière des bougies dans l'obscurité.
- Candlelit Light Painting Still Life-
Shot in darkness and painted by highlighting portions of the composition moving a handheld candle. Monochrome rendering.
I've been gifted some amazing callas. While shooting them via my newly appointed Candlelit Light Painting technique,
in their different shapes & positions, they started whispering a story and I truly saw them as they were personified,
dialoguing with each other.
This photo is the step 4: After a couple hugged (step 1), a third element enters the ménage...Captivating, trasgressive thoughts...A timid approach (step 2 called "Wonderful thought" where a calla touches the 'third'). Step 3: "I wish, I wish not, but...If you want..."
But, then, one walks away, -arms folded- expressing his will to not play with them anymore. The central element gives him the shoulders.
I didn't arrange the flowers to act a part, they just suggested me their anthropomorphic look & feel while I was shooting and especially when I watched the photos. What a Pareidolia! ( Have some fun in my PAREIDOLIA Album :-)
More in my Candlelight Painting Album and in the Callas & Amaryllis Studies.
A similar shot but in colour has received the Anthropomorphism 'Found in Nature' *EXTRA Challenge* recognition on 52frames.com/photographer/33141/photo/791443

Apart from the hunched spacemen looking like Mr Pilsbury, there are two stupid errors that I only spotted when I viewed this on the PC !
I briefly posted an image a few weeks ago with this technique but decided to remove it until I could find a more suitable application for it.
Enjoy it before it bugs me too much and I am forced to remove it.

The last image from December's foggy shenanigans and another successful outing for this technique. Apologies for the dumbass stance.

I don't have any proper tree pieces, so I was playing around with the grass pieces, and found this connection. I've never seen it done before, so I felt pretty clever. :3
From the other end, you know, the bit that shopping bags don't go in or maybe they do . . . . . anyway, I have know idea!
am trying slightly different approach w/ photographing RTH in garden today... as I plant Emrite climbing pole been in the trellis, after 1st removing spring garden peas...
will give the birds a vacation from photo work for rest of day, i think...
have some ideas for the coming days, though.
note about exposure: while using the tamron 1.4X SP PRO teleconverter w/ the Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 AF lens- if you look in "more properties" it will report exposure at say f/4.0 & focal length at 200mm. In reality it is more closely 300mm focal length at f/5.6 (one full stop) . in other words, while it works well in combo (my opinion), it doesn't report the "true" values. FYI... P.

"Not All Goldfish Swim"
The new technique I tried this week was free lensing. I found it very difficult; the worst part was keeping the lens out of the frame. Once I removed it from my camera, it had a mind of it's own. Tilt it too far and the rim showed. Don't tilt it far enough and it didn't blur anything. I'm not sure this is a technique I will ever use again for any reason; I think my lenses will remain firmly attached to my camera from now on But it felt good to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.
FYI - This is a flower on my goldfish plant which is blooming again! It was nice to have something colorful to photograph besides the white and grey of winter!
Candid, well for a start portraits aren't my strong point, let alone trying to get a portrait whilst the subject is unaware and MOVES!
This weekend I had the privliege of being the photographer for a Rio carnival themed charity event and what a fantastic event it was. The team who organised it planned the whole evening to perfection and everyone involved worked extremely hard to make it a success.
This portrait is of the very beautiful Jules, she was busy working and moved as I took the shot, but I like it.

I've most likely bored you guys enough with sharing my experience in Pripyat. So, I'll let the images speak for themselves.
This image was taken in a small vehicle graveyard.... the more well known one, was still inaccesable due to the radiation levels still present there.
