Around the corner from the one that is just about finished on N. Post Oak, is this area just passed Awty International School and a little east and north of the Marquis shopping center and Edwards Cineplex area (about an eigth of a mile north of the Katy (I-10) freeway. Lots of wildlife still hanging around, for now.

A blackwork sampler (my first). The design adapted from my old Collins Complete Book of Needlecraft (1978,1981) and some technique help from The Complete Book of Needlecrafts introduced by Caroline Ollard (1983,1984). The next quilt in my pipeline is what I'm calling "Ugly City". I should be able to get it started this weekend, so I've dragged the fabrics out from the stash closet in preparation. I bought this all kitted up at the quilt expo we went to in January -- the model of it was gorgeous, but when I looked at all the fabrics individually, I realized I would only have picked, like, 15% of them. It's going to be a fun project in the sense that all these ugly fabrics will have to join forces to become beautiful.

Whenever I see one of these, in my neighborhood, I am reminded of the the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Allison, a few years ago and I wonder what effect it will have when much of the flat (used to be rice pattys) land around my area is converted from commercial property to residential, reducing the ability of the land to absorb rainfall and increasing the already critical pressure on our drainage system.

I know its not quite 2010 yet but I thought I'd get an early start on a project that really caught my eye.
I came across Jeniee's photostream when I saw that she had done a project called 30 days of life support.
I was immediately intrigued and inspired. It seems like such a personal project and requires much less obligation than project 365 which I didn't succeed at a while back. I will do my first day of life support tonight. Tonight feels like the right night.
This project will help me recognize the things and people that matter most in my life and how grateful I am to be alive.
I am giving this project my all and I wont back down.
