A few weeks ago, I realized that my reverse lights weren't coming on when I shifted into reverse. After a few quick searches on cherokeeforum.com, I determined that the neutral safety switch was the culprit.
When I took it off of the transmission and opened it up, I found that one of the spring loaded contacts stuck due to hardened dielectric grease. After some thorough cleaning, sanding the contacts, and applying new dielectric grease, it's working good as new!
Oh, I forgot to mention that a new switch would have cost between $150-250 dollars. Cleaning it myself cost roughly 3 dollars and a few scraped knuckles.
