I finally got around to finishing up the pillow I started last month. I was hoping to give it to my cousin as a gift, and I was suddenly presented with an opportunity to get it to her without posting it, so I suddenly had a deadline!

The Nissan Pao is a retro-styled three-door hatchback manufactured by Nissan for model years 1989-1991, and originally marketed solely in Japan at their Nissan Cherry Stores.

First announced at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1987, the Pao was available with or without a textile sun roof and was originally marketed without Nissan branding, by reservation only from January 15 through April 14, 1989. Orders were delivered on a first come-first served basis, with the production run of 51,657 selling out in 3 months.

Because of its origins at Pike Factory, Nissan's special project group, the Pao — along with the Nissan Figaro, Be-1 and S-Cargo — are known as Nissan's "Pike cars."

In 2011, noted design critic Phil Patton, writing for the New York Times, called the Pike cars "the height of postmodernism" and "unabashedly retro, promiscuously combining elements of the Citroën 2CV, Renault 4, Mini [and] Fiat 500."

Another shot with the B+W ND 110 filter. The shadows are due to the long exposure (10 seconds) with the filter.

When choosing a color palette for home or business, people often mistakenly think that they are "settling" if they opt for a neutral color palette. The other mistake made is thinking that neutrals are only tans and beige hues. In fact, neutrals encompass warm golds, rich camel browns, buttery creams, greige, and other earth tones. Pair them with bold blacks, purples, any heather hues, and rich chocolates as well as beautiful natural wood tones and you will have a winning combination that pleasantly awakes the ocular senses.

One interesting challenge I had lately was a sunset situation using a ND filter for long exposure effect of the water. The challenge here was that the sun was changing every minute. The bright shots (earlier) showed the rock formation well and a nice sun reflection in the water, but the sun itself was very washed out. The darker shots (later) showed a well defined sun behind the clouds but the rest of the sky looked dull and the rock was black with a very poor reflection in the water. I found that by using HDR to fuse 3 separate pictures as the sun continued to set (i.e. 3 different exposure situations), I was able to balance out everything.

There is beauty all around.

I have days, sometimes weeks that go by where I don't see anything worth pointing out. I live for the days when I can see what was always there, waiting to be noticed if I'd just stop seeing things as we were intended to see them.
