P.S.

This person won't link back to my image, so I'm linking to their blog post instead. From what I can gather from Google translator, it has something to do with the lack of funding of Lithuanian libraries. I think all libraries need more funding!!!

kultuve.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/lietuvos-bibliotekos/

Just link back, people. The image is already hosted, ya don't need to upload it. Do I feel this warrants a rant about copyright infringement and a nasty email to the poster? No. I hate copyright rants and there's a good reason why the majority of my early photos are under a CC licence. Just bad "netiquette" is all.

Taking images from someone else's flickr stream and reposting them to your own stream as "your own" makes the kittens cry.

Options to try:

1) Add images you like to your Favorites using the "Add to Faves" button.

2) Use the Flickr "BLOG This" feature.

3) And ask for permission before posting someone else's flickr images (and credit the original photographer, owner and/or source of the image).

Please don't make me have to watermark my images. Keep Flickr fun.

Thanks.

(And yes, I know that 99.99 percent of you would never do such a thing, thank goodness.)

NOTE: For artists having a problem with your images being re-posted on flickr by others, feel free to utilize this image on your profile. Ironically, this is the one image from my stream you can repost as much as you'd like!! or email me for the code to insert this image in your page...

Netiquette is short for "internet etiquette". Just like etiquette is a code of polite behavior in society, netiquette is a code of good behavior on the internet. This includes several aspects of the internet, such as email, social media online chat, etc.

rules of netiquette for online learning and learning in internet spaces

We are a community gateway and an educational region, we organize and host lessons, events, artists and performers, because we believe in the culture and dissemination of art, music and literature in SL.

We believe that virtual worlds are an extension of the real world, so please respect the rules of the sim which, together with Linden Lab’s TOS, is a cornerstone of netiquette.

This idiot is using my COPYRIGHTED image without my permission as her MySpace background (she is one of MANY MySpace users that have taken this image to use in some way). The image has an EFFING "Copyright Anna Reid www.aflux.net" stamp in the bottom right corner of the image. I sent her a VERY nice message telling her it was my image and to please remove it in the next 48 hours or I'd report it to MySpace and she sent me back a message: "LOL"

Normally I don't care about stuff like this but her response pissed me off. Why is it always the moron MySpace sluts that have to act like complete douchebags about stuff? They have absolutely ZERO concept of Netiquette.

I sent notice to both MySpace and the site that is hosting the image ( www.nextsmallthings.com which redirects from www.http://www.coolchaser.com ) to remove the image.

I love the internet and sites like flickr but this kind of thing is starting to grate on my nerves more and more. It makes me have ZERO motivation to post my pictures so that bitches like this can use them with no regard to anybody but themselves. I miss the old inernet days before it was polluted by inconsiderate assholes.

Mistakes are inevitable. Better students make them WITH you where you can help shape their understanding and wisdom than on their own out in the open where their mistakes can potentially haunt them for a lifetime.

Bistoon inscription is considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Behistun Inscription (also Bisitun or Bisutun, Modern Persian: بیستون ; Old Persian: Bagastana, meaning "the god's place or land") is a multi-lingual inscription located on Mount Behistun.

The inscription includes three versions of the same text, written in three different cuneiform script languages: Old Persian, Elamite, and Babylonian. A British army officer, Henry Rawlinson, had the inscription transcribed in two parts, in 1835 and 1843. Rawlinson was able to translate the Old Persian cuneiform text in 1838, and the Elamite and Babylonian texts were translated by Rawlinson and others after 1843. Babylonian was a later form of Akkadian: both are Semitic languages. In effect, then, the inscription is to cuneiform what the Rosetta Stone is to Egyptian hieroglyphs: the document most crucial in the decipherment of a previously lost script.

The inscription is approximately 15 metres high by 25 metres wide, and 100 metres up a limestone cliff from an ancient road connecting the capitals of Babylonia and Media (Babylon and Ecbatana). It is extremely inaccessible as the mountainside was removed to make the inscription more visible after its completion. The Old Persian text contains 414 lines in five columns; the Elamite text includes 593 lines in eight columns and the Babylonian text is in 112 lines. The inscription was illustrated by a life-sized bas-relief of Darius, holding a bow as a sign of kingship, with his left foot on the chest of a figure lying on his back before him. The prostrate figure is reputed to be the pretender Gaumata. Darius is attended to the left by two servants, and ten one-metre figures stand to the right, with hands tied and rope around their necks, representing conquered peoples. Faravahar floats above, giving his blessing to the king. One figure appears to have been added after the others were completed, as was (oddly enough) Darius' beard, which is a separate block of stone attached with iron pins and lead.

Ben yukarıdaki açıklamayı, Elias Pirasteh'in flickr albümünden aldım. Ayrıca orada "face"tan bir başka foto daha var, bir göz atmakta yarar var (fotoğraf aşağıdan çekildiği için "foreshortening" çarpıtması oluşmuş"). Buraya eklerdim ama henüz flicker'la ilgil netiquette'i bilmediğimden ayıp olur mu, kestiremiyorum.

Use Your Netzsmarts! UYN

Over 110 2nd/3rd Graders at Cooper learned about "netiquette" ONLINE.

Superior WI is part of the ARRA-funded Wisconsin broadband project, Building Community Capacity through Broadband. broadband.uwex.edu

Yesterday, I gave my two cents on netiquettes following a rather harsh post on an opinion piece I did for Digital Photography School. The post however sparked another thought. Lets recap:

'I suspect that you are trying to make money from photography without putting time on the line and mastering the craft. This is all too common a phenomenon these days. As I said, when you have a body of work that involves 100,000 images you will have enough experience to look at these and see what I am saying. Maybe you will get it sooner or maybe it will never happen but get over the rejection from the stock companies and get some real experience. (...) If you truly wish to learn and advance, you must have thick skin and take the harsh criticism and learn from it.'

In my opinion, two ideas get tangled up here:

n°1: the photographer as an artist

n°2: the photographer as a manager of his own career

The amateur - originally meaning: being an 'aimant' or 'lover' of the craft - aspiring as he/she may be to become a professional, has one great advantage: he/she can safely focus on n°1 and is bound in this only by his/her own energy and imagination.

The professional can focus solely on his craft but is - sadly - bound by the secular needs of substance. He/she 'can' not only play with his passion all day but 'has' to, to make a living.

And so, while amateurs can be wise-cracking, remain stubborn and disconnected and be flattered simply by having their images published on obscure websites or small magazines, the professional approaching his/her business in similar fashion will very quickly find him/herself out of work. He/she enters a formal relationship with his clientele. Firm rules, good understanding and correct payment are essential to make sure it will be a lasting one.

I am increasingly more inclined to drive a fair but hard bargain.

I'm not in it for the money - frankly, I don't think there is that much money to be had in photography.

I'm in it to stay in it.

A good photographer, in my opinion, is one who manages n°2 with a firm hand but never forgets to insert enough of n°1 to keep himself satisfied. For me, n°1 consists of, amongst many others: reading and writing blogs, personal projects, pictures for friends (like the immeasurably sweet Louis above) silly jokes (try and find one here) etc.

I love photography and I live photography.

Making your job your hobby and living the dream is a huge leap into the unknown and your success can only be self-controlled to a certain degree. Having to take a step back because of poor managing however, is your own dumb fault.
