In advance of my 5th anniversary on Flickr (in late summer), I'm starting a project to get a lot of the best stuff of the past few years (and pre-Flickr) posted. Maybe it can be called "WHY Haven't I Posted This Already?! Wednesdays." Or something catchier.
Coles The orginators of the French Dip sandwich, down town Los Angeles. Not to be confused with the cross town rival Philippe's who are the home for the beef dip! This is a true saloon style bar and sandwich establishment since 1908.
toronto's 1050 chum first opened in 1945 out of a small studio on mutual street in downtown toronto. some 14 years later opened their new facility at 1331 yonge street and hung this iconic neon blade sign .

Now known as the Carlton Inn. At some point a small two story building was erected in the center of the parking lot but does not connect with the main unit. The brick exterior was given a dark charcoal grey paint job too.
Rescanned negative 1-25-2015 replaces scanned print from 2007.
This old 'arrow' sign was probably pretty impressive in its day-----
not many like it left in this part of the country!
