I was on the Balcans road trip for 9 days. Just one lens with me. I did not do many photos. I do not like much touristic photos.

The many bays and harbors on Newfoundland's shores may offer refuge from the sea but the steep rocky shores don't leave much room for housing. I imagine good neighbors are an essential component in outport settlements.

Hopefully, having the two houses within 10 feet will keep attacks from the swallows at bay

My neighbor really liked this shot. He wants me to come back over to get more of the rusting relics

Happy Truck Thursday!

I wonder if it is the houses behind or the truck I am calling the Trashy Neighbor?

I experimented again last night with variable focus while my neighbor put up some fireworks for me !!!! I still need more practice .... got very few accecptable shots. Guess I'll have to wait till next year !!

A neighbor has an amazing array of sunflowers—and numerous other plants—in their front yard.

Just this past weekend I noticed the Bluebirds were paying a LOT of attention to this birdhouse on my patio.

It's an old terracotta birdhouse which was more for decoration than practical use, but the Bluebirds love it! It sits high on the wall, on the corner next to one of the beams, and is tied down so it won't get blown off whenever we have bad storms.

We had record breaking, below freezing, cold temps last night and I was worried there might be eggs in inside. Today I was able to catch both the male and female bringing nesting material so hopefully they're just now moving in.

Bad thing is this is my patio, where I go back and forth every day to feed the birds, do gardening, taking pictures, etc. Sure hope they don't mind their "giant two-legged neighbor" coming and going all the time. But if they stick around, there might be a few more Bluebird photos down the road.

I can´t help myself I´m simply fascinated with reflections and windows. I found these lovely tulips while wandering around in Amsterdam.

My beloved little sister Ruthie on the left with two of our longtime EHS campus neighbors: in the center is Sally Walden, whose father "Sleepy Syd" Walden coached Varsity football and baseball and taught Ancient History to freshmen. Mr. Walden never said much or smiled that I can remember. He threw me out of Ancient History class one morning for correcting his pronunciation of "Medici". During football games he'd walk up and down the sidelines screaming at individual players for fucking up -- in-your-face profanities that made you feel like utter shit. Or so I'm told -- I decided early on not to bother with trying out for the varsity squad. I played junior varsity football two years and had a fantastic time; plus, my dad was the defensive secondary coach for the jv's and I loved playing for him.

Sarah Latham's father "Uncle Bob" Latham had been teaching at EHS since the 1920s, finally retiring around 1970. The best thing about Uncle Bob was his family -- his children Penny, Joe, and Sarah were among our best friends on campus (as was Sally Walden) and his wife Ella was my mom's best friend.

Ruthie and Sally are both around 14 years old in this picture, Sarah 13. I love Ruthie's dress; the pattern is made up of brown dachshunds.

I was 15. My parents bought me a new camera-Zorky-4. I walked on the street, looking for smth to shoot. Then I saw my neighbors and asked them-may I take a picture of you?

They silently bowed the heads. And I did it.My first picture with this camera..

This is my neighbors yard, she has a really pretty flower garden, this sun was setting that is where the glow is coming from

Exploring and discovered new friends a country mile or so away.

Went to Bountiful to get neighbor gifts. (Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolates) I always get Tom a #2 Box of Dark Chocolates and then feed him some story about how I walked four miles to get his gift and stood in line for 45 minutes, or some such nonsense. So, he'd better love his gift because part of the gift was the torture I went through to get it! He seems to tolerate me in spite of the amount of nonsense I feed to him! (I'm the horrid mother-in-law)

Watching from the cedar trees as I walked by.

Have a great week everyone!

I was playing with my new Nikon 200-500 mm lens, as our neighbor's cat came into our garden during her daily inspection tour.
