Taking a walk along the canal at Lancaster, the ice was thickening up again despite the sun. It was clear that one barge had managed to get away though, leaving an ice-breaking trail along the canal.
In the early 1900’s the National Biscuit Company ( NABISCO ) produced a product under this name, seen here on an old ghost sign in Peoria Illinois. Uneeda Biscuit was one of the first prepackaged soda cracker products on the US market. Taken for granted today, it was an innovation in it’s time. Before that time crackers were shipped and sold out of barrels at local neighborhood grocery stores. Cardboard packaging, waxed paper wrapping, and a national ad campaign paved the way for NABISCO’s huge success. They practically monopolized an entire industry. The next time you break up a handful into a bowl of chili remember… uneeda biscuit. Cheers.

Well, what did I tell you? - This guy needed a good cool down, for this very hot and scorching heart, that we were getting here!
I felt the same as he did, in which I should have joined him too. Because I can't stand this heat wave we were getting them.
Still, it was nice to have some sunny days, this summer and made up for the long cold winter spell, we have had in the UK here!
Don't see Mother raccoon out during the day often; only when she needs food so she can return to the babies and be able to feed them. When the young ones were old enough to venture out, I saw she had been caring for 4 babies. No wonder she looked so ragged!

Please say a prayer for our Little Bungee this day as we have decided to go ahead with another operation in an attempt to help him have a chance at a normal life.
As of this juncture, he is dizzy, can't walk straight and refuses food and water.
His surgery will attempt to remove a growth causing this unfortunate physical symptom interfering with his life.
He is still very young so perhaps he will be able to overcome this infirmary.

Good excuse to get super close in then you need to fill the frame! This is from the centre of a Gerbera flower that seems to have mistaken being indoors for spring!
Took loads of shots of it from the abstract to the super sharp, this sits somewhere between I think. Estimated 5mm section of the flower.

Turn on the faucet! No words needed. I know he is feeling better when he jumps up and wants water. Thank you all for your get well wishes. He finished a found of antibiotics and is gaining back the weight he lost. He is sweet as ever. Happy Caturday from the boys and me.
