I don't usually do this, but as a parent I couldn't stand by and do nothing.

This is Dan (Dan-Dan) Nevoue, he is 3 years old, and the child of a colleague at the office. Three weeks ago he was hospitalized after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

As part of the first stage of chemotherapy he needs 3 blood units each day for 40 days. That’s 120 blood units!!! The hospital's blood bank stock is low and couldn't give it to him. We mobilized everyone we could at the office and car pooled 4, 5, 6 people at a time to donate blood. We were able to donate enough blood that will last till October 22nd.

Dan Dan needs your help, if you wish to do so and donate blood you can do it at Tel-HaShomer's blood bank (not Magen David Adom's blood bank) at the ground level of the hospitalization tower. You can check out the blood bank's working hours at 03-5302633.

When you fill in the form, please state that the donation is for Dan Nevoue (דן נבו) ID number 328464227, hospitalized at the hemato-oncological ward of the Safra's Childern Hospital. Please keep the slip/voucher they give you after the donation (you'll be exempt the parking fee if you present it at the parking toll booth) and fax it to 03-6836782.

If you can't reach the hospital or can't donate blood and still want to help, money donation will also be appreciated (I've been told it costs an arm and a leg to process all that blood into plasma).

Donations should be made in the name of Meirav Nevoue (מירב נבו), Dan's mother.

Bad news, it's been a little over a year since Dan Dan had received the umbilical blood donation (stem cell treatment) but the cancer had returned with a vengeance.

Dan Dan is being prepared these days for another round of aggressive chemotherapy.

Tomorrow, thrombocyte blood donation will be held for him at Herzel 160 Tel Aviv.

After a period of remission Dan-Dan condition worsened and the bad news are that the cancer returned 20% stronger.

For the last 3 weeks Dan-Dan has been going through an aggressive chemotherapy in preparation for bone marrow transplant.

The national blood sapling campaign that took place in January failed to find a donor for Dan or Amit (although 7 other kids were matched and the database was enlarged by 63,200 samples).

The planned transplant is scheduled to take place some time in August after the chemotherapy will end.

We hope Dan-Dan will survive the harsh preparations and that the transplant will succeed. There is a very slim chance of success because the donation is not a perfect match for Dan-Dan.

Ok everyone, I need your help. I have a bit of a mystery!!!

 

I work in a 3 storey building that is a heritage building & used to be a School of Arts building & prior to that a holding cell for the court house.

 

Several of our staff have said they have felt & seen things on the top floor. I work on the bottom floor…..but our offices are being moved to top floor in a couple of months…….(guess who won’t be working back after dark!!!!!!!!!)

 

I was working alone one Sunday & heard a noise upstairs that freaked me out, all I can say is I had the strangest eerie feeling when I walked out the back part of the building on my own. I have never had such a feeling in my life.

 

My boss took these photos while renovating the building & he has been told the spots in them could be spirit orbs.

 

Does anyone know anything about these things?? I am the biggest sceptic & look at them & say…..just dust particles, light reflections, etc.

 

What do you think? Check it out in large view..............Would love to hear your opinion

Interesting story behind this photo and greeting from Bona to a new arrival.

THE BACK STORY: For an estimated 17 years two Sumatran elephants named Natasha and Dino would entertain the locals on the beach front of Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia. Taking kids and families for rides up and down the beach on most days. Until one evening a local man broke into their holding area and from all accounts began to antagonize the big boy Dino by playing with his nether region. Sorry my safest description. This did not end well for the local man and I am sure you can use your imagination to fill that gap.

THE RESULT: After this unfortunate event Natasha and Dino were ordered to be transported to the elephant conservation center 4 hours north of Bengkulu. They were transported in the evening hours and arrived at the camp late in the evening. I was at the camp upon their arrival still hand feeding Bona on a daily basis. I remember their arrival and the shrill sounds of panic coming from both Natasha and Dino in the middle of the night who only ever knew life among crowds living on the beach. Who had only had each other for company for 17 years. The wild pigs were not a familiar sight and would fill them with fear and elephants screaming is not a sound one can sleep on.

THE NEXT DAY: Upon the morning light Bona had decided to investigate the new arrivals focusing on Natasha Bona put on a confused show of dominance and love for Natasha, which was hilarious to view. Bona’s short sharp charges were only met with love from Natasha who was lapping up a new friend and the attention and even showing natural maternal instincts towards baby Bona. It was something special to witness as Bona was trying to show the new arrival who the real boss was Natasha was loving having an instant baby to care for so it didn’t take long for Bona to give in and just feel the love.
