More than 550 fourth graders from nine schools attended the Agricultural Literacy Festival at the Lancaster Event Center on April 5-6, 2016. Students rotated between the following ten interactive stations: Beef, Dairy, Swine, Sheep, Horse, Poultry, Corn & Soybeans, Water, Farm Technology and By-products.

 

The Ag Awareness Coalition, led by Nebraska Extension, organizes the festival with the help of agriculture businesses, commodity associations and food industry companies. This is the 16th year the festival has been held in Lincoln. The festival helps students gain a greater understanding of agriculture and how it impacts their daily lives. Students learn about agricultural products, how they are produced and how they are used.

At Lancaster County 4-H's Furniture Painting Workshop held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, youth learned how to prepare new and used wood furniture by sanding, sealing, painting and decorating. Completed items may be entered in the Lancaster County Super Fair in August.

4-H Clover College is a four-day series of hands-on workshops for youth presented by Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Clover College has grown from 8 workshops in 1996 to 58 workshops in 2016!
