Had a very enjoyable walk along the river from Triggs Lock to Stoke Lock. This part of the river is a real gem!
At the Blue Bridge at the confluence of the River Foss into the Ouse in York.
Taken while waiting for the York 800 flotilla of boats along the River Ouse which formed part of the annual Festival of Rivers and the 2012 celebrations of the 800th anniversary of York becoming a self-governing city. The flotilla was postponed from July, when the river was in flood.

This is a set from the construction of the Raygun Gothic Rocketship at Black Rock City in August 2009. I was fortunate enough to be a member of the wonderful crew of people that built the rocketship, and to install two of my handmade retro rayguns inside, as well as two bronze pennants depicting the mission logo, which was designed by Jody Medich.

Navigation House has [had] one of the most distinctive facades on the city's quays. The façade was of unusually good quality cut stone. The building had been extensively altered internally, but the exceptional façade was very significant and has to some degree been retained as part of the Navigation Square complex.
Navigation Square will, on completion, be a 310,000 square foot office complex at Albert Quay East located between the Sextant and Idle Hour pubs. It will consist of four separate buildings on a 2.25-acre site bounded by Albert Quay to the north, Victoria Road, Albert Road and Albert Street.
Early this year [2019] BAM Ireland completed the first block of Navigation Square, the first of four buildings in the €90m O’Callaghan Properties office development.

The Chesterfield Canal was one of the last of the canals designed by James Brindley, who died while it was being constructed. It was opened in 1777 and ran for 46 miles from the River Trent at West Stockwith, Nottinghamshire to Chesterfield, passing through the Norwood Tunnel at Kiveton Park, at the time one of the longest tunnels on the British canal system.
It was formally closed in 1961, but campaigners fought for it to be retained, and the Worksop to Stockwith section was designated as a "cruiseway" under the Transport Act 1968, meaning that it would be retained for leisure use. The rest was designated as a remainder waterway, and parts were sold off, with housing being built over the route through Killamarsh.
The Chesterfield Canal Society was formed in 1978 to spearhead restoration, becoming the Chesterfield Canal Trust in 1997. They initially sought to extend the navigable section beyond Worksop, but when progress was slow, moved to working on the Chesterfield end. Over 5 miles of canal, including five original locks and a brand new lock at Staveley Basin were navigable by 2017. The eastern end was restored from Worksop to the mouth of the Norwood Tunnel between 1995 and 2003.
Less than 9 miles of the original route remain to be restored to link the two navigable sections, but this will require some new lengths of canal to be built, to bypass the housing development at Killamarsh, and to replace most of the Norwood Tunnel, which cannot be restored.
