ORLANDO, Fla. – The 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Best Warrior Competition began in earnest today as 12 Soldiers from the 143d ESC and the 321st Military Intelligence Battalion demonstrated their physical power and mental might to complete a gauntlet of Soldier skills.
Dawn had yet to illuminate the lakes and trees blanketing Camp Blanding, Fla., when the Soldiers endured an Physical Fitness Test directed by Army Reserve drill sergeants from A Company, 2nd Battalion, 485th Infantry Regiment (Initial Entry Training) out of Jacksonville, Fla. After completing pushups, sit-ups and a two-mile run, the competitors had less than hour to eat, clean, change uniforms, don rucksacks and step into a van bound for Camp Blanding’s live fire ranges.
The 143d ESC cadre and A-2/485 drill sergeants managed the ranges that tested the each competitor’s competency with the M4 Carbine, M9 Pistol and M203 Grenade Launcher—all while wearing a gas mask. The Soldiers were then ferried deep into Camp Blanding’s dense forest. The troops applied their land navigation skills to physically locate three distant points on a map using only a compass and protractor.
As the hot, dry day relinquished control to a cold, moonless night, the competitors returned to the field with weapons in hands and night vision goggles over their eyes. Muzzle flashes pierced the darkness as the competitors attempted to eliminate their artificially illuminated targets.
The exhausted yet enthusiastic dozen returned then to their barracks to clean weapons, write an essay and prepare for another grueling day that begins with a 10-mile road march.

Built between 1941 and 1944 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the USS Missouri (BB-63) was launched on January 29, 1944 and commissioned on June 11, 1944 to serve with the United States Navy in World War II. Active in the Pacific Theater of the war, the USS Missouri fought in the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and took part in the shelling of the Japanese home islands. On April 11, 1945, the ship was attacked by a kamikaze pilot and was struck on the side below the main deck, with the ship suffering relatively minor damage, which is still visible today. On September 2, 1945, while docked in Tokyo Bay, a delegation representing the Empire of Japan surrendered to allied forces on the deck of the USS Missouri, bringing World War II to an official end, with documents being signed by Japanese and Allied leaders. The ship subsequently returned to New York after stops in Guam and Hawaii, and underwent an overhaul in the New York Naval Shipyard. The ship then headed on a training cruise to Cuba before heading back to New York and then east across the Atlantic Ocean, making a stop at Gibraltar before arriving at Istanbul on April 5, 1946. The ship then headed to Greece in order to assist in quelling pro-Communist groups in an attempt to contain Soviet influence in postwar Europe, demonstrating the commitment of the United States to European countries following the war. The ship transported President Harry Truman and his family between Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the United States in September 1947 following the signing of the Rio treaty, broadening the Monroe doctrine and establishing solidarity between nations in the Americas. Following the war, most battleships in the US Navy were decommissioned, but the USS Missouri was kept active due to sentimental connections between it and President Truman, as well as the ship’s status as a relatively new vessel. However, the ship hit a shoal near Old Point Comfort, Virginia on January 17, 1950, leading to it becoming stranded and needing to be refloated and repaired. Upon the breakout of the Korean War, the USS Missouri was dispatched to the Korean Peninsula on August 19, 1950, in order to support UN forces on the peninsula. The ship provided artillery support to South Korean and United States forces attempting to push back the invasion of North Korean and Chinese forces, and was active until the end of hostilities in 1953. The ship returned to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after the war, being overhauled before going on a patrol mission in June 1954, returning in August 1954. After this mission, the ship was sent to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in September 1954, where it was decommissioned on February 26, 1955, ending its first period of active service. The ship became a popular tourist attraction during its period of deactivation, remaining in use as a museum ship until 1984, with the surrender deck having bronze plaques and an exhibit set up to commemorate the ceremony that ended World War II, which occurred on the deck. In 1971, the ship was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in recognition of its remarkable state of preservation, and the very historically notable events that took place on and around the ship. In the summer of 1984, as part of an initiative to expand the number of active ships in the United States Navy under President Ronald Reagan, the ship was reactivated and sent to the Long Beach Naval Shipyard for refurbishment and modernization, with many original features and weapons removed and replaced with far more advanced modern weaponry and systems. On May 10, 1986, the ship was formally recommissioned in San Francisco. The ship participated in patrols and naval exercises throughout the period between 1986 and 1991. During the Gulf War in January and February of 1991, the ship was utilized to assist forces pushing the Iraqi army out of Kuwait, with the ship’s missile and artillery systems being utilized against targets on land. After the end of the Gulf War and due to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the ship was decommissioned once again on March 31, 1992, at Long Beach, California. The ship was returned to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, as part of the reserve fleet, where it remained until January 12, 1995, when it was removed from the Naval Vessel Register. The ship was not operated as a museum ship at this time, and was towed from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on May 23, 1998, before arriving at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor on June 22, 1998, opening to the public as a museum ship on January 29, 1999. The location of the ship in Pearl Harbor was chosen due to the significance of the harbor and the ship to the beginning and end of the direct involvement of the United States in World War II. The ship underwent an overhaul in 2009-10, which has ensured its continued preservation. The ship today serves as a museum to the operating history of the former military vessel, as well as the very historically significant ceremony on September 2, 1945, which ended World War II.

Bugsworth Canal Basin, the head of navigation of the Peak Forest Canal, was the largest and busiest inland port on Britain's narrow canal system and the only one to survive intact.
Famous canal and tramway engineer, Benjamin Outram, built the 14 mile long Peak Forest Canal from Dukinfield to Bugsworth, although plans to extend to Chapel Milton via Whitehough were never realised. Construction of the six-mile Peak Forest Tramway in 1795-96 linked Bugsworth Basin to the limestone and gritstone quarries in Derbyshire, and the canal linked Bugsworth to Manchester and the trans-Pennine canal network.
With these transport systems in place Bugsworth thrived commercially. However, as early as 1804, experiments using steam locomotives to haul iron were underway in Wales. The ensuing unstoppable advancement in railway technology would, inevitably, lead to the decline and ultimate demise of the canal system.

The Peak Forest Canal canal consists of two level pounds, separated by a flight of 16 locks at Marple, which raise the canal by 209 feet (64 m) over the course of 1 mile (1.6 km).
Whilst the rest of the canal was opened to navigation by 1796, insufficient money was available to complete the necessary flight of locks to connect the two halves, and a temporary tramway was installed until such time as the locks could be completed, which finally happened in 1804.

The navigation bridge, whose windows look out over the forward turrets. Chart tables, radar repeater screens, a voice pipes, phones, and a fire-control computer are all still in place, but there's a fair bit of rust on the structure.

Zenvo or Zenvo Automotive is a Danish sports car company located near Viby SJ on the Danish island of Zealand. It is managed by Jesper Jensen, the founder and financier, and Troels Vollertsen. The name 'Zenvo' is derived from a combination of their names.
History
Zenvo Automotive was founded in 2004. The prototype was completed in December 2008 and is in the final phase of testing before production begins in 2009. The designation of the car is Zenvo ST1. Only 15 cars are to be built and will be sold to approved customers.
Characteristics
The Zenvo is a high performance sports car. While power is available through its supercharger and turbo, it will still be driveable for everyday use. Its 7-litre V8 engine will achieve 1,104 hp (823 kW) at 6,900 rpm and 1,430 N·m (1,050 lb·ft) of torque at 4,500 rpm. Indeed, according to The Motor Report, recent tests returned a 0-100 km/h time of 3.0 seconds, while 0-200 km/h took only 8.9 seconds.
Despite its power and large alloy wheels, the car is small, at just 15.3 ft (4.7 m) long, 6.7 ft (2.0 m) wide, and 3.9 ft (1.2 m) tall. It weighs just over 3,020 lb (1,370 kg) thanks to carbon fiber body panels.
Zenvo offers keyless entry, satellite navigation, power telescoping steering wheel, and leather electrically adjustable racing seats.
Limited production
According to Jesper Jensen and Troels Vollertsen, the two-man team behind the ST1, some 250 Bugattis are produced each year. Though they are among the world's most expensive cars, exclusive customers will only buy them if they are unique. That explains why they have decided to keep the Zenvo series down to just 15 cars.
Danish design
The Zenvo is entirely a result of Danish design. The carbon fibre body is made in Germany and many components such as gauges, gas tank, ABS brakes, anti-spinn, airbags and such come from US or German cars. The car's aggressive lines were designed by Christian Brandt and Jesper Hermann who own the car design consultancy hermann&brandt. Brandt, who was head of design on the project, has also worked for Alfa Romeo and Kleemann, an after-market tuning company for customising Mercedes-Benz cars located in Farum, Denmark.
Cost
It is estimated that the basic cost of the car, without registration or tax, will be around five million Danish kroner, which is approximately one million US dollars. The cost of putting the car on the road in Denmark would be around 16 million kroner as a result of registration expenses. But Zenvo are aiming at the export market alone.
